@@atomicgrave4340 not in the OFFICIAL ost, sure. However, I think the song you're talking about is the music box version of Drippy's theme, which plays during the lore segments of the Vault of Tears. Many other songs such as the golden grove theme and the original boss theme are also present despite not showing up in official ost.

@@atomicgrave4340 youtube doesn't like links, so I'll give you the channel name. "Tales of backlog" has a playlist of unreleased tracks from the original Ni No Kuni, some of which were reused for the Tale of a Timeless Tome. "Boss battle" is present in a lot of the Soloseum Slog boss fights, "An Ill Omen" and "The Golden Grove" are area themes for the main story, "Over the Waves" is the boat theme from the original that is reused as the post final boss dialogue (for some reason), and "Revelations" is present in a lot of the Conductor's dialogue. There might be more songs reused, I haven't played the DLC in a while.

Man, Bandai/Namco put a ton of effort into their sound tracks. Currently playing Tales of Arise and it has the same level of polish as NNK2. Really impressive. EDIT: Dragonball Fighterz as well, although not as cinematic.

I'm not exactly sure the sequel will ever hope to be able to live up to the original for me. In my opinion, wrath of the white witch will always be better. I haven't played it all yet, and dont get me wrong, theyre's cool mechanics like the troop battles, but having a drippy character that's way different and more childish, along with a real life politician and a furry as the main characters rather than the masterfully crafted characters of the first game along with them literally getting rid of both fairies (I think) and also familiars? How can you get rid of the best part? It's a no from me so far. Might update comment once I finally beat the second one. I haven't finished most of it yet still.

Yea i notice (from gameplay trailer) the 2nd game don't have familiar, which is sad. I thought Ni No Kuni Universe is all about familiar and fairy, but the 2nd is like totally different world with just same name. NNK Cross World seems get it better as sequel. (Btw i havent played all the original game, only play cross world)

I am one of the very few people that enjoyed the sequel more than the original. But I would be the first to disclaim my opinion on this because the sequel pays great homage to Level 5's Rogue Galaxy which is one of my all time favourite JRPG.

@@rockyescape8989 I can completely understand that! I loved both games completely, for me though I preferred the original. Revenant Kingdom seems like a stand alone game, it doesn't feel like Ni No kuni and I was greatly upset with the changes they'd made because it didn't feel like a sequel, but if my 200+ hours on both games says anything, it was that both were enjoyable in their own way . . Now if only they kept the emotion collecting

Good music can give a good boost to the game, but bad music can give a minus in all stats. For me, this OST is a clear example of how to successfully bury great potential. 90% of the compositions do not have at least some originality. It feels like the orchestra itself threw together some improvisations on its own in one evening. I love this game and went through it from beginning to end, collecting all the secrets and I will say that many of the musical themes are simply unbearable.

In what way does it feel like the orchestra threw together improvisations? There’s consistent motifs all throughout the score that are combined with different melodies and elements because the composer necessitated having different feeling themes for different feelings cities and moods. I also think calling it unoriginal is empty criticism when you don’t provide any examples. The only thing I can imagine being an example is some clear nods to other works, but even then homage≠unoriginal. All current art comes from existing art

@@klatopathian706, the thought and feeling that I wanted to express is poor work with music in general. Just a few nice melodic musical themes. And several melodies that begin to strain you after just a minute of listening, while you will have to listen to them for several tens of hours of gaming time. This is my feeling - it does not apply to you in any way. If you liked everything, I won’t try to convince you otherwise.

@@Scotl I mean, if you don’t like it that’s fine, but you can’t back out of the criticism by saying it’s your feeling when you state it like an objective statement. “90% of the compositions do not have at least some originality” is just an unprovable statement regardless of personal opinion. Same with your comment at it straining you as a listener. It’s all empty criticism trying to make it seem like there’s something fundamentally wrong with the music, when there isn’t, or if there is, you haven’t provided an argument. It’s just music that doesn’t appeal to you
