Lot of Dallas fans on Twitter angry about that 3rd goal...the thing is, they never blow the whistle unless the Stars have possession of the puck. Reason: then every goalie would just flop if his team was stuck in its own end to draw a whistle. Unfortunate, but no excuses in playoff hockey.

Bishop apparently wasn’t hurt so bad he couldn’t think. After the Blaise goal he put the paddle out in an attempt to trip him. I like Bishop, watched him play when he was with the Peoria Rivermen in the AHL. I could tell he was going to move up. But that doesn’t mean I give him a pass for being a thespian.

Considering the goal in which the ref did not blow the play dead, Ultimately it is the refs discretion and apparently they did not feel like it was that serious. You have to give them the benefit of the doubt since they are officiating and you/we are in our recliners. They also must consider if there are theatrics involved since they are behind in the score. Remember that Dallas has already been called for embellishment/diving in this series. If Dallas obtained the puck it would have been blown dead.

L C excuse me but I have already performed my research. Just because I did not include it in my initial dialogue does not mean that the ruling isn’t there. If you had watched the game and listened to the commentators you would have already heard that, therefore I chose to omit it from my post. When one says “ do your research “ it is always in a condescending tone. You have no reason to prove your education level to the masses, therefore please refrain. If you disagree please do so in a manner of a simple question. IF you read the last sentence of my post you will see that I have already stated this

Bishop plays dead because he lost his stick, not because he was injured. If you watch, at 3:15 his stick is already out of his hand before the puck even reaches him. Then he was embarrassed his acting didn't payoff and actually cost them a goal so he kept up the I was severely injured ploy. He'll be back in the next game with maybe a bruise.

I know what that feels like as a Leafs fan after how the 1st round went vs the B's....Game 7 back in St. Louis, now that should be a barnburner. So at 2:56 when Bishop plays dead, it's OK because the Stars are breaking out of their zone, but when he plays dead and gets scored on, suddenly it's the refs fault? Maybe the Stars should try playing hockey rather than diving, and maybe their fans should learn hockey rules rather than booing the refs for correctly officiating the situation. Stars fans are still probably trying to figure out that offsides and icing stuff too.

Rather looks to me Benn is knocking the stick out of his hand. So not a dive. However, I am not entirely sure what the rules say in NHL, but in SHL im pretty sure the ref only blows the whistle if the team are in control or the puck hits the goalie mask. So with what I'm more used to. It's right to keep the play alive. We'll just have to ding them in game 7. Go Stars!

With all due respect Wendel the ref was correct in not blowing the whistle. It is the refs discretion to blow it dead or not. Bishop had his mask on. If he would have flipped it off the ref might have blown the whistle. Again refs call. The Blues retained the puck so the play continued, again, refs call. If Dallas got possession of the puck then the ref would/could call it. And the ref has to consider if Bishop was hurt or not. Laying on the ice clutching his shoulder does not always mean a player is hurt. Dallas has started a reputation for diving.

Balls Mcgee The rules state when a player or goalie is hurt play shall not be blown dead until the team with the injured player gets control of the puck. If the player or goalie draws blood from an injury play will be stopped immediately unless the player can get to the bench. The Dallas Stars could’ve prevented the goal if they would’ve just gotten possession which they could’ve easily done the Stars head coach even said it himself in post game interviews and he said he was pissed at the players because they stopped playing thinking there was gonna be a whistle. In hockey even if u think there’s gonna be whistle u keep on playing till you really hear it. Blues 3rd goal was a good goal

Most of that is correct but in reality if a goalie throws his mask off with the intention to stop play then it’s a penalty. Which is another reason why goalies don’t do it because they don’t want to be the reason there team goes short handed and could cost the team an unnecessary powerplay goal

@loganmainord you are incorrect the rules state if a goalie takes off his mask with the intention to stop play a penalty, penalty shot, or a goal will be awarded. In this case of bishop takes his mask off the blues get awarded a goal because they had possession in the offensive zone and were in a scoring area.

And that’s not the perspective of a blues fan, that’s the perspective of damn near every hockey fan and analyst across North America. Lindell committed perhaps the most egregious dive in the history of the game and bishop has flopped on several occasions. These games are anything but rigged by the nhl. Rather a piss poor showing by the blues resulting in a series going about 3 games longer than it should.
