What a crazy result for the Caps. Sellers at the deadline. Played their kids. Still made the playoffs. What a second half of the season for Ovi and co. I'm happy for the Caps on making the playoffs. I don't expect Washington to beat the Rangers, but their season has been admirable. Charlie Lindgren has been a superb goaltender. Also, with Ovechkin's 31st goal of the season, he is now 41 goals away from catching Gretzky. The Great Eight's chase must continue in the 2024-25 season.

What is weird is Kuemper was supposed to come in and be this superstar goalie and it didn’t happen. Tell you the truth, I really didn’t even know who Lindgren was. The bigger question is what do we do with guys like Backstrom and Oshie? Backstrom has been damn near injured for two straight years and Oshie is in and out of lineup. Both those guys are franchise players but at what point do we need to move on? It’s hard to say that but we need to get younger.

@@jamescash887 get younger? you want the Caps to put high schoolers on the ice? the only guys left from the Stanley Cup core are Ovi, Backstrom, Oshie, Wilson, and Carlson. Backstrom isnt playing, Wilson is only 30, and Ovi is one of the best to ever play the game at any age. Carlson might be getting old but hes still one of the best offensive d men on the team. and the team has Pacioretty but hes basically a rental. aside from those 6 guys, only 5 of which play and 3 of which are crucial to the team still the rest of the team is AHL callups and younger players. so how much younger do they need to get? all teenagers that dont know how to play the game at the NHL level or what?

At least we made progress in a rebuilding year when most people predicted us to be a bottom 5 team in the league. We majorly choked to close the year and that still really hurts though.

As a penguins fan idk what we’re going to do. Seems like Crosby and Geno’s last years will be a waste of talent. All i know is something is fishy when you get new owners and miss the playoffs two years in a row with the talent they have.

@@letsgobrandon7297 The talent? The D has been traffic cones. EK is washed. Crosby, Malkin, Rust and a couple others REALLY stepped it up post all star break. But the first half of the season was just atrocious and couldn't ultimately be overcome. Sure there is talent here, but definitely not cup caliber right now. Not even all that close.

Phew!! I breathe a huge sigh of relief as the Capitals hang on to win a close game, courtesy of an empty net goal by Oshie! It was so stressful watching this game, every time the Flyers entered past the blue line I was biting my nails, praying they wouldn't score! Amazed at how hard this team played to get into the playoffs, as much as I love the Caps that team shouldn’t make the playoffs and the fact that they did says a lot about them. They don’t have much fire power offensively but they play hard on defense and have a great goal tender.

as a canucks fan, im happy for the caps. I really wanted the pens to make it, but im happy the caps make it. OV Will definately get more goals! RANGERS VS CAPS i have rangers in 6. rangers havent playing their bset hockey lately but they will def win. if they played the best they can, they prob 4-1 theres s sligh chance the caps make it. I tbh think the caps might win because of the "President trophy curse"

I give full props to the flyers penguins and red wings as a caps fan for fighting all the way here I’m one of those fans that shows affection for all teams even my rivals so all the flyers penguins and red wings fans sorry about not making the playoffs and it was a good stressful run against all your teams

What an overall great game, though!

That ending just didn't feel good as a way of concluding the last round. The Caps essentially gifted a playoff spot by the Flyers with that EN goal. The Flyers had to try to win the game but it just felt like a weird ending considering the Penguins and Red Wings situation.

And where is the super dream team from Pittsburgh? Not in the playoffs ;-)

Why next season will be better. This team won't change.

Flyers pulling the goalie despite being eliminated was odd. Torts answer of him not knowing until after is convenient, but the Red Wings seemed to know in real time exactly what was happening. They didn’t even celebrate their win.

bruh. the games started at the same time. wings went to ot/so, caps ended in reg. they knew they were out by the time the s/o was finished. also wings tied it up with 3 seconds left in reg so when the flyers goalie was pulled, the wings were still trailing in their game. pretty easy to glue that picture together.

0:59 can refs please stop randomly blowing the whistle when they have no idea where the puck is, especially in the most important regular season game for both teams? That denied goal potentially cost the Flyers the playoffs...

Noone deserved the playoff spot but Caps deserved it more than others. At least they beat RW twice recently and how they did it. I don't see any reason to cry about from RW. Better luck next time

Happy this dumpster fire of an end of the season finally ended. Maybe now the Flyers can work on improving their dreadful PP, their awful goaltending behind Ersson and maybe add an actual goal scorer or two in the offseason.

They had to, it was all or nothing for them at that point, they had to win in regulation, an OT win wouldn't have done it for them. Like the commentators said they didn't know it was pointless at that point, they still thought they had a shot.

ну посмотри таблицу перед этим матчем. Если ничья, то ФФ сразу теряет шансы на выход в ПО. А если выигрывает, то сохраняет

Caps so lucky to sneak into the playoffs. First of all, a legit goal by Philly taken away by the refs early whistle, secondly Flyers needlessly pull the goalie after Detroit already in overtime to basically hand over the win to Washington. Tough pill to swallow for Wings fans.

It's doubtful the Flyers were paying attention to the Wings game so as not to distract themselves. It's the Wings' fault for losing to so many bad teams and going on so many losing streaks. The Wings had their chance to prove themselves against the Capitals last week and they lost. Hard pill to swallow, but they didn't deserve to make it.
