Looked like a solid effort from the boys tonight. Adding Hanifin was huge since we don't have Martinez, who blocked so many shots for us. LT let in that one soft goal but he looked in the nets. Overall, good win against a tough team. Honestly, the west this year looks so tough, I think any team could win it all. Go Knights Go!

Hertl vs Pavelski is a win / win lose / lose for sharks fans. Both got to treat this like it is their final chance at a cup even if it is not. Seeing Hertl and Stone play together and sitting next to each other on the bench was really odd as a sharks fan and after seeing the video of them fighting years ago. It is cool that they both moved on from that old rivalry. May the best team win.

It's definitely been odd (that fight was epic), but apparently they became friends during injury rehab. 😀 The Stephenson/Hertl/Stone line is going to be a force in the playoffs. And then there's Marchessault/Eichel/ Barbashev...and the grinder line of Carrier/Roy/Kolesar back together. Karlsson and pick your favorite player on either side. This is definitely going to be interesting!

Stone hit Timo Meier clean but it looked like he hurt him and Hertl was just defending Meier and he might not have seen the actual hit. Hertl is generally a nice and happy person and seeing that Stone hit Meier clean it would be easy to forgive him and move on. Hertl and Stone both do not fight anyone that often so it was epic sure. Even as a sharks fan some knights players seem pretty likeable it is just a few do dirty hits and that can sour that. I feel exactly the same way about sharks players who do that though.

Not only was Stone healthy but he was second among Vegas forwards in ice time while playing penalty kill minutes. Really looked like a guy who just got healthy enough to take the ice. The NHL needs to investigate the injury review process because they clearly got fooled on this one.

Wouldn't worry about it if I was a Dallas fan. Vegas fluked a win here from a unusably weak game from Oettinger and bad bounces. Dallas played terribly by their atandards and still dominated shots and expected goals. Vegas might win 1 more game this series at most.

That Hill was benched for Thompson says a lot. If the knights had traded for a #1 goalie at the deadline I think they could beat anyone. They still have the ability to carry the goalies to victory again of course but it is asking so much more of the rest of the team.

Hill was benched and if you think Hill was the reason they won the cup it is a complete insult to the rest of the knights team that constantly carried all 5 goalies to victory last season. Not a single knights goalie had a losing record last season and it was not because all 5 are #1 quality NHL goalies. Hill did not even play in the first round of the playoffs last season and if Laurent Brossoit stayed healthy I highly assume the knights would have won the cup anyway even if Hill never played.

The GM's don't care, because they're only an extension of the owners, and the owners don't care because revenue and profit continue to increase for them. That doesn't negate the fact that the salary cap system is broken, and teams exploiting the loopholes are seeing huge success against teams who are not in recent years. So the question is, does the NHL want to encourage and even incentivise questionable accounting loopholes, or promote and encourage fairness and an equal playing field?

​@xXxXcrosbykidXxXx I get what your saying but fact is that ultimately it is fair, practically every teams gm voted for this kind of scenario and they could do it themselves seeing how Tampa was way more egregious than Vegas with this (18 mil over the cap t-shirts) and still they didn't want it gone. I'd be totally down for changes but until it happens as fans all we can do is root for the change but at the same time understand that the gms believe this version of hockey is where they think think they can win

Paying Hill 4.9 mill a year was insanity. I have respect for the knights GM and president but that move was like when they gave Lehner that extension with prime MAF still there. They have made many great moves though and I acknowledge that but that 4.9 mill could have kept Reilly Smith who makes 5 or it could have gone to getting an actual #1 goalie.

There is a cost associated with loading up on players at the deadline and most GM's are not as willing as Vegas' to do so. It's not like they're just signing people midway through the season. They are mortgaging their future for a chance to win now, just like every other team can do.

Am I going to regret having the Stars be my pick to represent the West this year? I had them beating the Golden Knights in 6 before the initial puck drop. Perhaps Vegas is the scariest among the wild card teams. Also, it's funny hearing people get dismayed by Mark Stone playoff magic.

It’s not possible for every team to do the same thing Vegas does because it would look so suspicious that the league would clamp down, but they don’t because Vegas gets away with it, how could you compete against the team like that that can fix the game like that by getting all those players and not paying a price when it comes to the salary cap?

@@babyyoda6549 it’s ridiculous to think that the league allows it to happen because of only a single team doing it. 16 teams are over the cap by end of year. All but Nashville in the playoffs are over the cap. Secondly, nothing can be done about the rules because that’s collectively bargained. They’d have to open the CBA entirely and re-bargain what players and owners agreed to.

Dallas has lost every game 1 the past i don’t even know how many series. I’d guess at least 4. I was expecting this although the stars looked pretty good. Ya get couple bounces the other way and this could have been a completely different story. I do like that the stars kept at and didn’t let any calls dictate this game.

And next year they can essentially ice the same team. Players on the ice, not signed to next year: Marchessault, Stephenson, Mantha, Carrier. All pretty solid, but besides Marchessault, none of the guys I'd call all stars. Then they have 7 million in cap space next year.
