Thanks for the contest I had a lot of fun with it. I was the Trenton Forces concept, I realized after that I forgot to add in my reasoning for the colours but they were the same colours used in the RCAF logo. Congrats to the winner, so many amazing designs!!

Completely agree about the Raleigh Red Oaks. Ultimately I wouldn't have picked it either, but I'm just so darn impressed by the level of work and thought put in! Wow!

Thanks for putting on this contest, Neil! I'm not surprised my submission was eliminated in the first round. I was worried that it was too derivative of the Minnesota Wild. Not my best work. Congrats to the winner, and all the finalists! I think I would have picked either the Allegheny Archers or the Brockville Armada, but those top 6 were all great!

So many great options, my winner probably would have been the Allegheny Archers. Because "Bridges" would have been a terrible name, and yet truly represents the area/city. Well done!

Thanks so much for considering me (and *very* good job with both my name and the Albion name. I really did consider making my jersey purple and gold since those are the colors of our college, but I ultimately decided against it because the whole town identifies more with the red and white scheme. Something to try for next time maybe.) Also, I wanted to point out that at 29:35- the Grand Rapids Fury logo also looks a lot like the logo of the Minor League baseball team in the Grand Rapids area--the West Michigan Whitecaps--so there's that to consider. 45:47: Rocky Mountain X-treme was actually a proposed name for the Avs, so it's kind of funny to see it revived.

Pretty cool to see my “Industrials” submission at 32:16. I honestly could not think of another name that suited the theme of this team, I wish I could of. It took forever to think of a decent name lol. Congrats to all the talented artists and designers, this contest was a lot of fun!

Awesome contest - there are some really phenomenal concepts in there! My entry was the Herald Harbor Newsies; for those who are curious, Herald Harbor was started in 1924 as a real estate venture by the old Washington Herald newspaper. Subscribers could buy lots in what was a quiet beach community. Thinking back, it may have been better to go with some variation of Headline/Headlines/Headliners, not just for the alliteration but also the "line" connection to hockey. Still, I had a lot of fun and learned quite a bit. Thanks Neil!

I absolutely loved The Armada concept and jerseys. “The Armada Nation” seems like you’re up against a huge number of soldiers ready to battle. Loved the colors too. That was my fav.

I like how many kids or young people entered or are shown just seems so cool to see their creativity

Is it bad i want to start a gofundme to get an arena built for each team so all can exist? Anyway, Congratulations to all who got featured and entered. Wish I could've entered but it was either that or come up with my Indy 500 to Hockey Jerseys (Hint on what's coming from me soon) and because I want to get the Indy ones done before mid-late April I sat this one out. Will try for the next one though.

Congratulations to the winner!!! You deserve it for all the hard work that you put in! I really love the fish logo with the scenery built into it! Keep it up and keep designing! My top six would have been (in no particular order): Horror, Archers, Les Griffangs, Reign, Harlequin, and Rosemont. The wild boar design for the horror is amazing! It’s also very relevant to the horror films industry as they use hog screams in the sound effects. I don’t think I would have used the train tracks in the way that it was presented on the jersey. However an outline incorporated into a more simplistic striping would have worked too. Regardless it is an amazing concept and I’m glad we got to see it!! The Archers?! Chefs kiss it’s absolutely stunning. I don’t really have any critique on it. The designer is so clever for being able to put that all together with the A, the bridges and the bow and arrow without it being lost in translation. The Reign was another slam dunk for me. I loved the home and away particularly. What sold the concept to me was the wheat along the bottom, really unique and adds just enough without being too literal. I do badly want to see the Harlequin brought to life. The striping was incredible, there was so much continuity from the markings on the insect and the angles of the stripes. A very unique design, wonderful name, the logo with the hockey stick antenna?! Great job! The Rosemont colors were perfect! Love the orange and red. The main logo is very intelligent! It’s so eye catching and clean, I would say that the secondary logo (though I LOVE it) I think would have done well to have a bit of aggression. The fox is very cute, so I feel that it needs a bit more attitude to serve on a hockey jersey. But it’s still a favorite of mine.

I loved your design. I have actually played around with green and purple as a colour combo for a team many times, I’m just not much of a designer and have never put it on paper. Raleigh Red Oaks might be a shout out to a North Carolina brewery aswell

Minus the "Canmore" part, the "Rocky Mountain Extreme" actually almost existed. When the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado and became the Avs, "Rocky Mountain Extreme" was one of the concepts being thrown around, until they eventually settled on the "Avalanche." Otherwise, I absolutely LOVED the concept of that submission; everything from the logo, to the color scheme, to the jersey, and even the name (despite it being one that almost came to be in real life) was great.

Cranberry is around the Pittsburgh area. In fact it is where the Penguins practice facility resides.

Absolutely can't wait for the next contest. So much fun!

I loved the winners design i felt that they definitely deserved to win, and even though I thought mine was pretty good, some of the people ahead of me had a great logo and jersey that was better than mine. However, i think i had the ultimate name as "Weeki Wachee Firefish" was too good and I'm glad you aknowledged it.

all were great options, i love all of the creativity. im a huge fan of the concepts behind them. i did have 2 small issues with some of the eliminations. They where based of being too close to the color schemes of NHL hockey teams, but then there were two that made the finals that were IMO close to two current hockey teams, that was the Barrie Lakers was literally 1 shade off being Seattle Kraken, and other being super close to Nashville Predators colors like the yellow was little darker but that's it. my pick would been the Archers. love the name i love the color scheme(huge Pirates fan), and the meaning behind the name is super unique.

Franklin, TN is a suburb of Nashville, so they kind of already have a hockey team.

It was fun entering this contest. I'll try to find a unique name for next time

I think I saw Kona in the logo of the Kona Lava concept. If so, I like that little touch.

The fact nobody judging thought to google renard seems weird to me. It literally would've taken 3 seconds to figure out it means fox which I thought was pretty obvious from the logos anyway so it seems like a silly reason to eliminate the entry. There had to be something else about it judges didn't like cause "nobody knew what it was" seems like a copout to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Still had a blast watching this video, just miffed by the explanation given for that one elimination. I'm hoping you'll run this contest again in the near future cause it was so fun seeing team concepts.

There were a lot of strong entries in this contest, so if we felt one team lacked in a specific area then we decided to eliminate it along the way. We felt like the name wasn't strong. Creating a name for a team that requires the majority of people to look up what it means, to us wasn't great branding. If a Renard is a fox, just call them the foxes, which is a more universally understood word. It's not a "copout" so we didn't have to crown it as the winner, it was a legitimate reason. If you're very displeased with our judging (which it appears you are), you're welcome to create your own similar contest and have people submit entries and then give a prize away based on who you think did the best job. It may be good for the community to have another opportunity to have their work showcased if you're up for it. Cheers.

You can’t really make the halibut first place if you’ve spent multiple entries criticising teams for not having aggressive names. It just seems like there weren’t very consistent grading schemes.

There were other factors in play for a lot of the other entries. I can't spent 5 minutes explaining the reasons behind all 100 entries, I'm not going to make a 3 hour long video. All entries were voted on, and some just received average votes, and I did my best to remember SOME of the main reasons they were eliminated. The Halibut was consistently voted high by almost every single judge. If you're displeased with the judging in this fun free contest, I would recommend holding your own similar contest and rewarding who you think should win with a prize that you provide. It would be a great opportunity for the community to have another chance to submit their work. Please send me the contest announcement video when you have it done and I will share it around. Cheers.

Love the Franklin submission. I know exactly where both of those spots are in the city. I personally would have chosen the rebels or something else related to the civil war. The town is so historic and if I did the contest I probably would have put a desaturated sublimation print of a war cannon.

The Halibut Secondary logo would look sick on a hat

I thought the Halibut would be eliminated for looking like Nashville in terms of jersey design.

There were also the Detroit Cougars before the Redwings

I was unfortunately unable to send my teams but I agree with the winner. Long story short my team was Called the Belfast Bombers and the colour scheme was khaki green, black, red and a tiny bit of orange.

Franklin Tennessee is a suburb of Nashville, within a half hour drive. Just make a plan to go to a Preds game I guess!

I don’t think he gave the Aviators logo at 40:50 enough credit cause the smoke coming from the plane is actually the yellow swoop that makes the middle line in the “A”. And I just don’t think he saw that

To me, it looked like that yellow "swoop" was supposed to be an "O" for "Oshkosh," as it was a different color from the rest of the "A", and had that shape about it. Absolutely brilliant logo because of that, and one of my favorites of the contest, by far.

Franklin TN is near Nashville

Can't believe I made it as far as I did. I literally finished the jersey and thought, "Hmm, maybe the volcano should be erupting... Oh well, it's done. I need to just submit it." So funny.

I had an idea, being in Surrey BC (just outside Vancouver) to do something for the Surrey Ti-Cats. I wouldn't have ripped off the CFL team in Hamilton, but the whole thing would have just been a rip on that Hamilton/Toronto has tried for a second team in that region, and here would be a second team serving Vancouver. It was good for a quick laugh, but actually committing to the idea just felt in bad taste to take any further.

It's possible to insert these logos on NHL23 ?

I think bird names were common because they aren't many in NHL. Only true bird is Ducks but their logo is a foot. Flyers and Red Wings are close but not birds. Capitals have an Eagle in a logo but the name isn't a bird. Most other leagues have multiple ones.

I don't expect everyone to agree with the final decision. There were A LOT of factors at play, and some decisions/votes by judges were strong to eliminate certain ones. I did my best to try and remember what the reasons were behind each, which was difficult because there were over 100 entries and 10 judges. I felt I described the reasons the winner won pretty well, and I do not regret the decision. If you think I did a poor job, you're welcome to hold your own contest and give away some prizes to who you think should win. Cheers
