There has been this inflation of attributes so that every player - even the average ones - are now 80+, so they had to introduce a new category of "super" skills to differentiate between average and exceptional players.

Nhl 22 is way more similar to 14 than it is 21, which is a very good thing. 14 was the last one that felt close to simulating hockey. Unlike the fast break cross crease fest that is 21

@@yellowtiger47 not like nhl 21, in 21 all you had to do was skate straight and force a pass through 3 people and you had a 50 percent chance of getting it through. That's not real hockey, real hockey has cross creases, but when there is an actual passing lane open to get the puck through. Defenders in the nhl are too good to let passes get by them over and over

Can you guys explain to me why the newer NHL games don't feel or look as realistic in gameplay as 14 did? I broke out my old PS3 NHL 14 for my 9 year old a few months back and on my new 85 inch tv the game feels so realistic in gameplay and we love it! Only problem is we made some current players and he doesn't like the fact the announcers can't say the names. That being said he went to his buddies and played 23 and besides the graphic boost he said the players move weird and the camera seems to be zoomed so much farther out? I went and looked for myself and had the same reaction. I wantwd to upgrade to a newer system just for the rosters but I'm really disheartened by this. Any opinions on this lads?

Am I the only one who cares about seeing empty seats on the middle of the week, so that once the playoffs come around a packed and loud crowd would feel different? ... 2 months into the season we are just above 500 and the crowd looks like its the finals.

not even close the graphics were horrible but this was my first ever chel i played so i love this game almost as much as 19,20,21,22*

u skated so smoothly in 14 u almost felt it

the scale of players to the rink ratio is so wrong in modern nhls, look at 14 how small the players look, it's much more realistic and gives more space to make plays, new nhl players are way too big for the ice.

No its not lol. NHL 14 the ice looks like international ice size. It's huge. If you ever skated in a rink before you would know its not that wide.

This is how nhl hockey is. Rinks are small with tight spaces for players. International however is more like NHL 14, big rinks with more hockey and less hitting/fighting

Nhl 22 players look like they're from a mobile game because of their skinny legs and oversized shoulderpads

i dont know why they cant keep the past announcers inn to get maybe 2 or 3 different announcers teams in the game… or a french canadien… just to get more variety

All I remember is in NHL15 if you played playoffs and were in the cup round, you could lay someone out and the crowd would go so insane that the camera would shake.

it happens. in old times the difference from nhl94 to 98 to 2002 to to 2004 to 2008 was insane and buying about every 3 years was pretty much mandatory. though frankly all games developed like that. now if someone shows me nhl10 and nhl22 its hard to pick any difference. even when there are changes it can be like the new game has 1 pro but the old has 2 pros so its really confusing. but what can you do. everything is damn near realistic and when the game is year after year like that then players start to get bored and studio needs to start make the game innovative aka unrealistic again.

NHL 14 even in 2024 still miles above NHL 18 to 24. 24 even is the exact same as PS4 NHL 15 despite using FROSTBITE 3 GAME ENGINE.

@@jonnysnipes3123 Um, looks closer to nhl21 to me than 14. What do you see that is resembles nhl14 particularly and not 21.

I feel like the skating has gotten light years better, but they lost track of the details. This year, there’s not even broadcast beyond the play by play, no intro presentations, you pretty much just see X factor bs all the time. The AI programming is awful, defense just charges at you and goes for big checks, makes it near impossible to set up pressure as your AI teammates just stand around and move a bit when you get near them. At least EASHL isn’t pay to win yet, that’s the only place I find myself enjoying the game anymore…. And that’s not even a guarantee thanks to truculence and close quarters cheese.

What are you talking about? The skating is awful right now. I don’t care how it looks. It’s supposed to FEEL real. That’s how those early 2010s games were made. They felt and played way more SIM than today’s games.

NHL 15 was one of the worst games made in video game history. That’s basically common knowledge. It was received terribly by everyone except apparently you.

This is why I wish games were based on physics instead of EA’s lazy cop out of abilities and animations. You go from skating normal to a choppy ass deke animation. They’re selling us arcade games under the false label of sports simulation. Miss the old days when quality was more important. They’d still make their money, they’re just showing us that they don’t care.

Yk the main difference? Here's a hint, one you can actually play it like how real hockey is played! Instead of just players skating so fast and making SCHTEWPID PASSES to each other across the crease! Take a wild guess!

How does a dying franchise creates so many versions of a GAME that, not one can be played with the other. PS5 can't play with PS4 or XBSX or XB1. XBSX can't be played with XB1 or PS5 or PS4 and all the combinations. They created 4 completely individual single games. So, if half your friends aay still gave Xbox One, the can't play with the same club member/friends on XBSX/S. PS5 And PS4 as well. I am all for that, in the making the game so much better and requiring more power but, HOW ABOUT EA TELLS CINSUMERS THIS WAY AHEAD OF TIME. You thought nobody was online before? You have 4 separate consoles that can't talk/play with each other. Awful marketing as usual from this corporation.
