I hope Veleno could go to Canucks, he would spice up the 2nd line a bit and could be one of the ones to possibly fill one of the holes the Sedins twins left

As a red wings fan, I'd be more than happy with Quinn Hughes. He's skilled enough to replace Ericcson his first year. Hopefully he does.

Tyler Greenaway No, if the top 7 turn out like that then the Hawks will want the player who will help them the most. Wahlstrom is insane and will mesh with Kane. The ratings in Chicago were down this year so they want a player who can make the NHL in the next two years. A d man like Dobson will take more time to make the NHL and will not be as good as a Wahlstrom.

SickStick39 only two forwards I'd want in first round are tkachuk or serron Noel. One be expensive to trade up towards. Then why would they trade down to take Noel? So hopefully Hawks get a good defence man.

It’s kinda funny that the wings got Zadina at 6 even though he was supposed to go at around 3 and we got Veleno at 30 when he was supposed to go near 11

I don't get it why Niklas Nordgren is not thought to go in the 1st round, he lead Finland in points at the U18s and had the most goals in the whole tournament

He's very small (5'7") and really slow. For a very speedy league like the NHL, his game will have difficulties to translate. Still, he's way too underrated

The success of DeBrincat doesn't mean Nordgren will become of elite player in the NHL, but he should be pick in the first. But like I said it won't happen because of those same exact reason.

Kotkaniemi will be top 10 mark my words.

Thats why you should do you're mock draft around draft day... lots of player gets scouted more or play in tournaments. You can see more of them. I remember myself not knowing the prospect.. i had Zadina 3 but went quickly with Tkachuk/KK at 3-4.

Great video as always man! It's a classic. Though I don't think Kotkaniemi will fall that far. He's gotta work on his skating a bit, but I definitely think he goes top 10

I really think Detroit is going to go for Bouchard, and I'm not entirely certain Carolina won't grab Zadina.

After watching this 3 years later I was laughing so hard on some of them i.e Floridas pick (Kotkaniemi)

Interesting to see only one Finn projected to go in top 15 in most people's mock drafts despite them winning U-18's. Imo one or two of them may jump to top 12 after their performances

Continue the mock draft after the second round with picks 16-27

It's funny that Finland won the U18s but there will be like two Finns that get drafted in the first round

Pyte depends since most of these players coming from the CHL are usually not avaible to play at this tournament it is hard to figure out where they would get drafted in order

i think the Canucks dropping from 5th to 7th was a blessing in disguise, get to the next batch of good D prospects, like you mentioned we have Boeser,Horvat, Pettersson up front, now we need to solidify the back end.from the goal out, Demko,Nilsson,Depietro, in net the next few years looks good. in an interview, Pettersson said he would have loved to have teammate Dahlin be drafted by the canucks, unfortunately that didn't pan out.

Actually, pretty sure Detroit would pick wahlstrom as they have kept an eye on him. There have been interviews on him by our news station before, and even a 10 minute segment pregame on him on TV. Anyway, good video!

I sure hope Chicago gets Wahlstrom. He is an idol for kids at a young age.

As Hawks fan im really happy with just being #8 and getting a good pick lol 2 guys id like are either Hughes or Wahlstrom and IF we get lucky Boqvist. But what I like about Wahlstrom is how young he is. He doesn't turn 18 for 2 more months and He already tore up the USDP. PPG avg hes up there with some great NHL talent right now so he should have a really bright future

well the Canes may need to use the number 2 to get a number 1 goalie...which is sad they have been placed in this position. They certainly need goal scorer but I don't see much goalie help in free agency.

Sakke Marjala The difference between OHL scoring and college scoring is vastly different. Saying that, I would currently take Bouchard’s offensive tools over Quinn’s. However, I think Hughes has a greater offensive upside in the future.

I think the Wings take Bouchard, they need righties and Bouchard has an incredible shot. Hughes is good as well, but on top of him being lefty, he runs around a little too much, much like Larkin does at times. Like Hughes speed though and wouldn't be upset with us drafting him

Aj Nocito I would kinda like that but what would they be willing to give, they do have 2 1st round picks and bunch of prospects but i don't see Hextall as the type of gm to trade his prospects. And they could use the picks to draft a talented winger and a right handed defenseman which they kinda need because Myers is the only notable right handed defenseman they have

I would never do #3 for #11 and #12 Zadina and Svechnikov are futur 1rst line player and Montreal have had a hard time drafting 1rst line player since Pacioretty, we could say Galchenyuk got the skills to be one but for some sick reason he seems to be the scapegoat of the coach. Drouin have the talents to be one too but i dont like his work ethics the dude offer no second effort when he loses the puck.

Zadina to Carolina Hurricanes with Martin Necas (drafted 11 overall in 2017 by Carolina Hurricanes) and Svechnikov to Montréal Canadiens

Kotkaniemi is top 8 or earlier pick

This mantra by people is solely based on hope they do take Zadina. You take the best player available. Drafting the inferior player because he had chemistry with one guy who might not even play next year is a bad idea and would only be a result of over-thinking it. It seemed like Waddell said they were taking Svechnikov without actually saying it, too, in his interview with Mike Maniscalco.

I actually work at USA Hockey for the NTDP, it’s crazy seeing all these guys in the draft! I’m hoping the Wings get Hughes or Bouchard and then Bode Wilde with the Vegas pick. Idk about Tkachuck. I think he’s going to end up either as a second line winger or third line center.

I can see AZ trading up. They have a playoff ready blue line, but they’ve got some holes up front.

If Detroit picks Hughes over Bouchard I think it will be a big mistake. Sure you can say that undersized defenseman aren’t as rare anymore but literally all of Detroit’s defensive prospects are undersized. I totally agree size isn’t as important any more but i think you need at least a couple of guys who can throw a body around.

Love the pick for the Hawks, when you're drafting in the top ten, you don't draft for need, you draft BPA. And Wahlstrom is def. BPA.

Look I know Svechnikov is amazing but I could honestly see Carolina taking Tkachuk... I know it won't happen but I wouldn't be surprised if they picked him. They need feisty power forwards, they already have scoring so I could def see them picking Tkachuk.

Disagree with the point about the rangers defense. Brendan smith can have a potential bounce back year. They acquired four defensemen prospects plus neal pionk proved to be a very good future player for them as well. They also got dangelo in the stepan trade last year and has yet to prove himself. All of these defensemen as well as sean day who has the most potential out of all of them shows me they really don’t need more defensemen prospects. They might try and move up and get wahlstrom or tkachuk because they could use a winger having drafted two centers last year and acquiring howden

Are you just transferring prospect rank list over to draft? Cause Hawks got several guys at forward positions climbing ladder. But no blue chip defenders really. So I say they be good to take Bouchard or Dobson. Who evers left at 8. Then with preds pick? I hope they can grab either Samuelson or Miller. That would completely bolster Hawks blue line for years to come. And if habs pass on tkachuk? That be ugly mistake. And Oilers would want to make blue line younger? Nurse, Larson, Benning, and klefbom are 24 and younger. Not to mention Bear, Jones, and Mantha ( 20, 20, and 21)

Correction:Saint John didn't just lose Thomas Chabot they practically lost there whole team because they all signed with NHL teams for a AHL deal. The only ones who stayed was Veleno, Reganato, Webster, D'orio and one of the Greens

Hughes over bouchard? I've seen bouchard play he did great on a crap knights squad maybe not the greatest skater but he's right handed first off his offensive skill is second to none in the draft he's smart with the puck usually doesn't make costly mistakes hes the proper size already detroit has fast guys on the team in anthanasiou and Larkin why get a guy who could cost you ?

Really hope some teams in the top 9 reach for a forward so the Oilers can end up with a defenseman. Otherwise trade the pick and assets like Sekera and Slepyshev to get a defenceman like Faulk, OEL, or maybe even Karlsson if he's available.

Galloway Sorry I didn't word that quite right. I think that the Oilers need to go after a Top pairing Defenseman, and I've heard rumors that Faulk, OEL, and potentionally even Karlsson could be available for trade this off season. I don't think that Sekera, Slepyshev, and a first would be enough for Karlsson, I just think that those three would be the first pieces that I would include in a trade going into the off-season

How would you feel about Puljarvi and Sekera for Benn and Galchenyuk? Yes JP be absolutely great in a year, or two, or three. Oilers need a true top six winger now. Not in coming years.

rugged english I'm assuming you mean Jordie Benn (I think he's on Montreal but not 100% sure tbh). If it were up to be I wouldn't take that deal. We'd give up way too much for very little. Sekera was our best defenseman last year (16-17) and even if he had a bad year I wouldn't compare him to Benn. And Galchenyuk hasn't done enough to warrant giving up Puljujarvi. If I were to trade for Galchenyuk and Benn, I'd say Sekera, Slepyshev and a pick would do it. Slepyshev is valued as a top6 prospect from what I read. What I've seen is completely different but still. Tbh i never know how much teams value each round pick lately, but for me a 3rd or a 4th I think gets it done and makes the trade somewhat fair. Idk if id personally do this trade but I think this would be even value for the players you suggested :)

X2Crow yeah, jordie benn. I don't understand the inflated value in Oilers faithful on Sekera. The way I see it. Nurse, Larson, and Klefbom are going to be top 3 d. Sekera and Russell. Too many times I've seen stand outside and wave their sticks at a guy while guy puts puck in net. I don't remember who it was, one or the other lied down in Oilers crease to block shot. Interfering with they own goalie while guy calmly put puck over him into net. It was laughable. I do identify as Hawks fan since Toews draft. But I love the Oilers too. And 9.5 million is a lot of cap for guys who don't rank in top three? Benn is a solid third pairing at very manageable hit. Puljarvi will be great. That is for sure. But when? That is the question. If Connor, Nuge, and ratti are top line? Cool. But that strands Leon alone. He was clearly frustrated when he was on his own line cause he had no support from wingers. It didn't matter who it was. JP, cagguila, khaira, cammellari, slepyshev (who is ufa, no trade value) or whoever. Leon would try to pass, set up plays or cycle with any winger, and the play would die. Oilers NEED a serviceable winger to partner with Leon. And with Sekera gone. Maybe a mike green would become affordable as #4? Galchenyuk, Benn, and cash to find a number 4? That looks all gravy if you ask me.

I want the habs to trade pacioretty for the oilers pick or one of the islanders pick so they can draft veleno

I think Carolina will take Zadina rather than svechnikov. Both of them are game changers and I would love to see philly trade up and get svechnikov, an established sniper with good hands that we haven’t seen since we had Jeff carter. It’ll be an interesting draft come June.
