Dan Marino getting 5k yards in 1984 is still crazy. Notable that the year *afterwards* was when the Bears had their star defense...
@markparker1353
14 күн бұрын
Coincidentally it was Dan Marino and the Dolphins who SCORCHED that mighty Bears Defense for 38 points on Monday Nite Football in 1985 (Marino threw 3 TD Passes). Otis Wilson, Wilbur Marshal, Dan Hampton, Steve McMichael, Gary Fencik, Dave Duerson, Richard Dent, Mike Singletary.............had no answer for Marino, Clayton, and Duper in '85. More Teams should have used those Dolphins Game Plan: PASS THE FOOTBALL! "Points come out of the Passing Game". Strong Passing Offenses will always out duel those "Defensive Minded" Teams because "Defensive Minded" Teams (like those '85 Bears) can't score enough points to "keep up" with a strong Passing Team.

@@markparker1353 nope all you got to do is play Time of Position against a high powered offense and play physical Defense a top notch QB can't beat u staying on the sidelines for most of the game
2009 was a crazy year for QBs. You had Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Kurt Warner who were all active and well known at this point. Aaron Rodgers was starting to get well known. Nearly a quarter of all NFL teams had a future Hall of Fame (or likely HoF for those not in yet) QB starting for them with legit hopes of winning it all. That's just the QBs that are either currently in or probably going into the HoF. Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Donovan McNabb, Philip Rivers, and Matt Ryan were also active. Some of those guys had SB rings or starts at that point, others would get one later or at least make it to the game. All of them were legit contenders to at least go deep into the playoffs. There are a bunch of pretty decent QBs I'm not mentioning that also played that year. This was a seriously stacked season for QBs. I don't know if any other season was this deep.
Dan Marino is on this list so many times against a time when defenses could still hit players over the middle. Still one of the best ever even without a ring!

Marino would put up big numbers, but not 6,000 yards. That is just a delusional take to have. That is assuming defenses do NOT adjust at any point during the season, which is flat-out wrong. Drew Brees never winning an MVP is not only a disgrace as someone else said but like…so weird. Whenever I think about great players in different sports that never won MVP, when I come to Drew Brees, the default in my mind is always, “Oh, but he won that _one_ later in his career”…even though he didn’t. The jump in pass yards from the 70s to the 80s is startling
Drew Brees was insane in his prime
Drew Brees played 20 seasons of NFL ball of the 20, 8 of those seasons were seasons where he led the league in passing yards, 4 of which for 5000+ yards 13/19 seasons he was selected for the Pro Bowl When he retired he was the all time passing yards leader, he was 2nd in touchdown passes, 2nd in completion percentage (first if you exclude Deshaun Watson's smaller sample size), tied for 1st in touchdowns in one game, most seasons leading the league in passing yards, amongst other accolades. All without a top 10 defense in 18/20 seasons with the Saints. He may only have one Super Bowl, but to me, he is better than Brady.
Honestly woulda never guessed Buerlin(99) or Lomax(87 Strike shortend)..woulda bin on this list
