Laporta tore his meniscus late in the season and came back and played in the bowl game even though he was going pro. These are the kind of football fanatics Lions love

The guys Chris likes seems to be in line with the guys Brad Holmes likes
This just in.... LaPorta is off to an amazing fast start leading or at the top of the league in passing stats. Also love his blocking.
Laporta topic needs to be revisited. If not for CJ Laporta would be the clear favorite for offensive ROY

Simms was dead on here both in breakdown and draft slot. Holmes agreed 100% with Simms. Laporta gets up field in a hurry.
Dude is a 10year vet in the NFL. About as sure things as they come are IOWA o linemen and TIght ends. They are usually low risk picks even if they’re not generational talents.

He will be better his rookie year thank hockenson is now. He can actually win a 1v1 and get separation, also great at YAK. From my research the top tight ends in the league run a sub 4.6. He’s gonna be a stud

@alschbchb Agreed 💯, and not to only add to the fact he'll get plentiful of snaps and time on the field due the 6 week suspension of that's guy( I forgotten his name) pretty much as TE1.

Yeah, he's on record setting pace for a rookie tight end and still learning. Both will be good though, it's not an either or situation.

Bears need to grab this homegrown talent
Sam LaPorta is approaching Mike Gesicki level. He's better at catching the ball than Kincaid. He is not as great of a route runner, but he'll get more yards than Kincaid, although Kincaid will get open more. He is better in terms pass catching production and is a greater TE than Kincaid. Kincaid is very good. LaPorta is very very good.

@Solo Mo No argument there, but we'll see. I think LaPorta is the better tight end. I just think Kinkaid is just more crisp with his cuts. LaPorta is going to punish most defenses, especially with the devaluing of linebackers across the league. Who can guard this guy?

Yes but he will get better as he learns more.
He's not a better all around TE than Mike Mayors. But he's better after the catch than him. breaking tackles, making players miss for sure.

Which to me seems he has the highest ceiling, and highest probability of becoming "superstar" talent. Now the question is, will he ever get there? I think being under Ben Johnson's scheme, will help him loads.
