    Yes, it was a very horribly officiated game, but come on! The guy being too timid about reporting? It has to be announced either way so the defense is going to know you're eligible. I also find it remarkable that this video (which I look forward to every week) focuses on that one play where Dallas committed Defensive PI was shown, but not the many plays where Cowboys' receivers were mugged without a call. And on that last drive, twice Parsons got mugged with what should have been offensive holding calls. These weren't "oh you can call holding on every play" nonsense but arm around the neck level! Bottom line, both teams were victimized by this horrible officiating crew and focusing so much on ONE call is simply silly.

    I don't understand how the NFL hasn't completely redone the referee system yet. They need to be 100% trained full-time referees that do nothing but this and spend the offseason streamlining their process, keeping up with the accreditations, rule changes, and practicing to make sure that they can actually make these calls when it matters, because there are clearly dropping the ball way way too many times consistently in ways that have massive repercussions on games.

    By rule, he was lined up too far from the ball to be allowed to leap. "Running forward and leaping across the line of scrimmage in an obvious attempt to block a field goal or Try Kick, or apparent kick, unless the leaping player was in a stationary position within one yard of the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped. A player who is more than one yard behind the line of scrimmage before or at the snap, may run forward and leap, provided he does not cross the line of scrimmage or land on players." If you're talking about refs not calling defense apparently lining up off side (eg: 4:51) then your statement implies that the center moved the ball forward. I'm not a rules expert so I don't know if this is true or not but in the past I have heard refs penalize centers for moving the ball forward before the snap, so pick your poison. It's not called very often, but apparently it is a penalty. So, either it's a penalty on the defense for lining up off sides, or it's a penalty on the center for moving the ball forward (I don't know the official name of the penalty)

  • @lubrew5862

    @lubrew5862

    @@andrewsercer9538yes it is a penalty, illegal snap or unsportsmanlike conduct, depending on what the center does with the ball. The center can tilt the ball and move it side to side a little by rolling it. The center cannot advance the ball or pick it up off the ground.

    He didn't "clearly report." 3 players approached the ref, how do you know who reported and who didn't? Did you actually hear him report? No. What is clear is that he didn't run his hand over his jersey number like he's supposed to when reporting. So, maybe he reported and maybe he didn't, but he definitely didn't "clearly report" because that would require the usual hand gesture.

    At 6:00, there should be an option to penalize only 5 yards instead of a 15 yard penalty. Essentially, what happened here is the receiver intends to field the kick and return, but senses he is about to get tackled, so he called the fair catch knowing that would be an interference call. So, for something like that, obviously the rules should be followed as they are on the book by the official. However, there is no malice there and it's only a technical foul. That should be like running into the kicker--a rule created called running into a receiver. It's incidental fair catch interference where the signal is late and contact unavoidable. It should be a five yard penalty enforced from the catch or if there is a fumble--five yards from where the fair catch signal was made assuming they don't muff it. That would be a fair compromise rule. Although, I get nervous granting any leeway to officials (because they suck)

    How about the call of a sack fumble in the Bills game on the first play when Allen was clearly down? They called it a fumble (recovered by the offense) but then moved the ball back 4 more yards?

    As many times as I look at it, the tripping call is justified but they called it wrong. The lions player had his leg out BUT it didn’t obstruct any players movement and it seems like he was trying to get his balance. 89 on Dallas holds onto the lions player and tips him causing him to have one leg out, I personally think that’s a holding call, not a tripping call.

    Everyone keeps saying full time refs, that will solve the issue. These SOBs make 200-250k a year, that is full time money tons of people would kill for that salary. They work 17-25 “days” a year, if you want to get generous and factor in travel let’s say 60 days. These are not some mistreated laborers, they are paid really well.

    They need to remake some rules because the Green Bay late fair catch is flag baiting. Returner realized he was about to get wrecked and then gets a free 15 with the tackler at his doorstep. Needs to be at least a 5 yard rule for defenders to readjust in time.

    Of course the latest bad call is the "worst call in history" because of clickbait, social media, and long term memory loss. 2018 NFC Championship had the worst no call that sent the Rams to an embarrassing loss in the Super Bowl instead of the rightful Brees vs Brady matchup.

    Someone needs to explain to me why that field goal block was illegal. I know the ref said leaping for the penalty. But...why is that a penalty when its not assisted?

    It’s amazing how much the refs gave chiefs the win. Yes, the Bengals still failed in a lot of areas and probably would’ve still lost. But the amount of missed calls and bad calls made (ALL in favor of the Chiefs) completely changed the game and allowed the chiefs to hold the bengals from scoring in the second half.

    As much as you don't want to believe it that was actually a good call by the rest in the Dallas game. They're clearly trying to trick the cowboys by sending three Lineman to talk to the ref, but instead they confused the ref instead of the cowboys. Maybe next time don't try to trick people
