That award and many others, if not all, are meaningless. The people who judge either don't watch the games, are fanboys who only vote for their favorite or players and managers who vote politically. It has got nothing to do with a player's performance and impact. If you realize they always try to make the awards about just Messi and Ronaldo with how they chop and change the criteria and if it comes to those two, Messi wins most of the time. Even so, if Ronaldo looks like he'll surpass Leo like in 2018, then they flip it so he doesn't. They are basically useless in gauging how good players are.
