I have just bought a refurbished one from next base,it didn’t have the sticker on the screen saying anything about charging it for two hours,thankfully I found your video.Thanks.

Appreciate the comment about not leaving the cam in parking mode for extended times and not using it as a surveillance camera since this invites eventual failures. Good tip...thanks

Great review , what an improvement on my 5 year old next base . I’ve replaced the internal battery once and it now needs another so it’s time to buy a new camera

Very informative video, just what I needed. Just a couple of questions though, what is it about the U3 card that makes it better if you have a rear camera attached to the front one ? Also, a very basic question, when you need to view the footage, do you take out the card & use a card reader, or detach the camera & plug it into a pc via a USB port. Thanks.

1. U3 is a card spec, you need a fast memory card to be able to record two cameras at once. 2. You can view the footage on the camera screen, via the phone app or by removing the card and using a pc.

Great video, I'm looking at this model for mine and my Son's cars. Are the 422gw and 522gw worth the extra money ? Can't see us using the Alexa feature on the higher end models, do they have options worth having. Do we just order the Nextbase kits for hard wiring ? Thanks

The 422 and 522 are mainly just higher res cameras but tbh anything 1080p or above is fine so no I don't think they are worth the extra over the 322. The image a 322 delivers is good enough to be zoomed in at night so a number plate can be read and thats all that is needed really.

Unfortunately the DAB interface on the rear camera is a deal breaker for me.

hi thanks for the video, a question for you, do these things work without a smart phone as i don't have, need, or want one and also i heard you mention that they only did 3 minute videos, is that because they overwrite after 3 minutes, cheers.

No smart phone not needed for it to work. Video clips record one after the other and the length of those can be changed slightly.

Its to be used if you have a DAB stereo so no interference.

Could you tell me what the cylindrical gizmo on the power cable is please. TIA.

It's a ferrite core. I'm not 100% sure what it is or how it works but I think they are there to prevent high frequency noise caused by the current in the cable.

@@mjribes Thanks for reply. Have just received a hard wire kit. Instructions confirm your thoughts. Also says best position on cable is approx 20cm from camera.

How do you play back the footage when needed ?

I bought this cam from halfords+rear view camera. main cam works fine but rear view camera doesn't work. I've looked everywhere for clues/solution but in vain.

Seei g as the rear cam is just plug and play it must be either a faulty rear cam or faulty interconnect cable.

I’ve had mine for over a year and the camera gets worse . It used to over heat and the rear dash cam stops working every now and then which is a piss take

Tried charging using the USB cable at home for over 2 hours and does not charge?? Will return to Halfords.

I am using a mains charger for my sat nav to charge for the first time,hopefully it should do the trick.

Can I just say there are plenty of clips showing footage and this camera works very well, from what I have seen. Best to drop resolution for night time; seems you get better results

Not impressed with this camera, the battery life is terrible, unless you hard wire it,meaning more £££ to spend

I had my camera hard wired at Halfords . This was 5 years ago and I think it was £30 which included the hardwire kit . They did a great install and all wires hidden . I’m just about to buy this newer version

How long is it supposed to last without power 1-15 minutes while in park mode,it’s designed to be only on while driving.
