this is a layman channel. explanations are structured in a way say a mom who wants to buy a wifi router and sees WPA3 on the box can watch this video and get the gist of what it is and if its worth the 10 bucks more it costs than the one next to it with out the WPA3.

You go to the sittings and you enable WPA , WPA2 or soon WPA3 for extra sec but if you don’t you have open network .. the. How open network have a better sec when WPA3 is out ?? That’s makes no sense you are not using hence Open WiFi

Yes you can when there is mixed mode of it..... but I will prefer you must use WPA3/SA
Layered networks and whitelists are still the best way to keep safe at the home and using the public wifi to do anything sensitive will carry a risk. Most hackers don't "pull your info from the air". Rather they port knock on a given device to "see" the packets that are being sent (this is where layering your networks come in handy... the more firewalls you have, the harder it is to get to the device). Equally important is the whitelist on a router. This allows (or bans) certain devices to connect by MAC address which means that you can have a network that everyone can see and know the password but depending on MAC permissions can or cannot connect to. I pull that one on the kids all the time to make sure chores are done before they can get wifi.

Unfortunately until everyone updates all of their devices to be WPA3 compatible, attackers can just use a downgrade attack to get around it anyways... assuming they can at least get through WPA2.
Tech Quickie, always good.
you should mention the "new" wpa-2 attack from hashcat forums, making wpa2 even less secure, so wpa3 will be a must-have

I really want to see another video about windows game mode, because I use that while playing Overwatch on my laptop because I get a better internet connection and 10 more frames per a second I think. I think that when you tested the windows game mode you were using better hardware and that the windows game mode is more meant for much lower end systems than an i3 and GTX 1050ti. Also you never tested internet speeds because I never want to close all my tabs and some have auto sync and because my internet is terrible (100-400ping while on ethernet) and I have noticed better latency with game mode on. BTW I am using an older i7 chip and my dedicated graphics is a Quadro K1000M and is a laptop.

Will I just be able to update my routers firmware to get WPA3? (I have a Asus ROG GT-AC5300)
So i just purchased a router less than a year ago will i need to get a new one? What will this mean for phones or older devices? And what if an older but still good printer that requires wps will firmware or software updates be arpund for those?
@ikannunaplays
5 жыл бұрын
wesley toulouse you would have to buy new ones. When the industry switch from wep to wpa I was sitting there with tones of devices that never got firmware updates as hardware makes just claimed it wasn't possible to just update the firmware to give it newer in security encryption (liars). So I just had configure my router to not use the new encryption and kept using the old weaker encryption anyway, until every device was eventually replaced. But that never happened, I still use devices that are stuck on WEP, like the Sony PSP, and other devices. So, I keep a special router connected to the main router that provides access to the older security devices in a way that if someone did get the access password they'd not get access to anything important.

Actually, the SAE encryption thingy is pretty friggin sweet, if you know what you're doing WPS2 is suuuuper not secure, like if you're a script kiddie with their head half way screwed on can use the RockYou page against a WPS2 network. So I rate WPS3, I'm on board for the rollout
Please tell me that mi pad4 does support fast charging
"Security is just an illusion"
I know you guys don't get to heavy into cyber security but I think a video on the vulnerability of wpa2 might be interesting. Maybe if it does well that would give you guys another avenue of content.

@@samsungemployee5243 would it not be possible to prime-map the charset and use a quantum computer to bruteforce the primestring and implicitly the password? The notation needs to be switched to chars at the check, so its up to the notationswitch algorithm to be as fast as possible. But I guess it could be done much faster with such approach. I would even guess that this is done already.
I just got an Asus RT-AC5300. I was hoping to use it in the future with a new Asus AiMesh enabled router. I sure hope that my RT-5300 will get a firmware update.
Hello I have a question what does an air ionizer do thank u

Anyone can capture the Handshake between the Access Point and client and take the captured handshake home and run it through hashcat or aircrack to brute force it.

Why would they sponsor a video that kinda suggests you don't need them any more? Granted its not true, even if your connection to the AP is secure you have no idea if the person running the AP are snooping on your data or if you are connecting to a spoofed AP, but the video doesn't address that.
I can easily notice that linus reading the scripts which moved his eye. Do something about your video to make it even better then ever.

Why wouldn't this just be a firmware update for all devices? Does it use a lot more processing power or something to achieve?

How could it? WPA3 encryptes the traffic between you and your router. Your router connects to your internet provider (the company you pay to get internet access). The government has open access to everything your internet provider sees (everything). VPN might be an alternative.
