Newsroom: Cape Minstrel Parade

The 2015 Cape Minstrel Parade is finally done and dusted after weeks of uncertainty. Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa said the annual Cape Town minsterls minstrels parade has a role to play in the construction of a united society. The parade was held three weeks later. It's is traditionally held on January 2, known as tweede Nuwe Jaar but this year it was postponed for religious reasons. It was rescheduled for January 5 but the date was also postponed for logistical reasons. It was the first time that parade was organised by the minstrels. The City of Cape Town gave the committee two-million-rand to organise the parade, but last week expressed concern over its state of readiness. Director of the Cape Minstels and Carnival Committee Patrick Brink joins us in the studio to give us an update on the parade.
