Newest Rubber Griptape!? Does it Really Work?

    To avoid peeling make sure you cut in 1/4 inch like they instruct you too and then file the edges of the grip tape until you start to see the clear plastic underneath (as they also tell you to do.) Then here’s my little trick, go along the edges with a lighter and melt (just slightly) that clear part and it will bond extra well with the board. I’ve never had my DKL peel on the edges doing it this way.

    i got this grip tape around 4months ago, the only cons i noticed is when your skate ground is wet, and the grip tape gets wet, it wont hold your shoes and it will be slippery. so not recomended for wet environment.

    I had the old version of dkl grip tape for about a year and I can safely say depending on what tricks you do and how constant you do it the rubber will be worn out, as for the shoes itself it does not rip it at all but it will look scruff and dirty and as for the traction for the bottom there’s really little to no change to it at all.

    Great video, I saw some people struggling with delaminating, but if you sand in the edges like you would traditional grip, then it won't peel up. But if you're skating every day, then your board probably won't last long enough to have that problem.

    Thanks dude! So, are you still skating dkl? also my concerns are 1- that it doesn't last, like it could be fine a for a few weeks but then it'll wear down, or tear, or peel off, and 2- that it doesn't look great, especially the edges... I don't want to get a brand new sick-looking deck and make it look bad with a wonky looking griptape. What would you say about those concerns? Thanks again!

    I'm curious, how did the cut-out "strip" area hold up in terms of peeling and wear? I haven't seen too many people cut designs in this grip and I know some folks have had issues with peeling around the edges of the board. I like cutting/having decorative designs in grip tape (and I'd be nervous to put paint on non-abrasive grip), but I probably won't risk it with my first sheet. Have you tried the No Rip brand? They make a clear version so you could potentially put designs underneath it. Great video, thanks.

  • @AustinSK8NYC

    @AustinSK8NYC

    Жыл бұрын

    That's exactly the reason I did the cut out hahaha to test to see if it would peel. It never did!!! It only peels around the edges of you don't cut it correctly. Mine has never peeled on the edges and where I did that design it never peeled up as well. Haven't tried the other brand, but I'm gonna stck with DKL and just start doing more fun designs 💪💪

Gets dirty just as fast as regular grip tape. Although it basically cleans itself. Ill go for a session and say, "hey I think it's time to clean it" and by mid session all the dust fell off by itself. Stays nice and grippy. It's been a month and a half and haven't needed to clean it at all.

It did get worn down a little bit, so it's not as grippy as it used to be. But it truly doesn't get holes in there. Heck, to be honest, I felt it was a bit too grippy, so got back into regular grip tape, only to find only the strongest grip tape feels good (MOB). Only one way to find out. The normal life expectancy for a normal skater should be between 2 weeks to 4 months. I ride a carbon deck and the grip has lasted a month and a half so far. I think it would reach its peak at 8 months but I could be wrong 🤷

    Honestly I've seen some people fearing that but it is for me a non issue cause my board would die before the grip.

    It becomes a little less grippy when dusty but just wipe it down with a damp rag to get it off and it’s back to new.

    Dang! Never heard of it before this! Think it’s gonna extend the life of your shoe? I reposition my lead foot a lot and find that’s the quickest thing to go bare (The sole of my lead foot). BTW #rippn👊🏽🤙🏽🌊🛹

    Totally my problem with shoes, I’ve had two pair wear out right on the balls of my feet behind the big toe. I’m talking a hole you could fit your thumb into. You’d think the Ollie edge would go first but this is my Achilles heel (ball of my foot) for shoes.

    Yooo thank you for the love!! Yea man it allows for quick feet adjustment, but still super grippy! Oh yea man I'm going on 3 weeks with it on and not even a scuff on my suede shoes! I love it! Definitely gonna have your shoes last longer!

    Then this is definitely the grip for you! I have the same issue but my shoes are solid 3 weeks in and my soles have never looked better!!💪🙏🙏
