Yet you'll only hear pundits criticising the opposition when we thrash them (regularly now). No acknowledgement of how it is NUFC that makes the opposition look bad because of how good we are. See the BBC fawn over Man Utd beating the bottom league team by one goal in what was an utterly drab, boring match? You had to scroll half way down their website before reaching the NUFC article

For so long we were a team that always had a negative goal difference, we were the team that always had the least possession playing negative football, we were always the team that the likes of Palace would come here and deserve to win after a piss poor performance, now we have the best goal difference, we always have 95% of the time have the most possession playing attacking football, it’s soooooo good! No matter what success we have in the future I will never forget this time and this group of players.

I like Almiron but Murphy offers so much more variety to the attack. The Almiron/Trippier combination is so predictable because Almiron can't cross with his right foot. Murphy creates many more chances for others as well as scoring himself. MoM today. 👏

Scored a few like that for England U21 where he's played as a striker. We have some attacking players who can score goals now mind. Isak, Gordon, Wilson, Miggy & Murphy are all capable of winning matches and we still have Willock & Barnes to come back into the mix. We have players all over the pitch who can score (and are atm) but keep our attackers fit & firing & we'll beat anyone.

Losing our lead to Liverpool earlier in the season is arguably one of the best experiences this team could have suffered. Killing games off is something weve never had the confidence for until recently. When teams now concede early goals to us we have the ability to shatter them. Incredible to witness.

Had we had not lost the lead late in the game to liverpool and not conceded that late goal to west ham we would be top of the league now. That is 20mins of bad play. And yes, it looks like we have learned from it.

I feel like the Liverpool game was an anomaly, normally when we score 1 or 2, we score loads, we score 4+ so regularly under Howe. The bigger concern last season was the 0-0’s, like a 3 against Palace. Games like the 2-0 win against Burnley and the 1-0 vs Brentford are the key results for us this season.

Murphy was unplayable today, a goal and two assists pure magic passing cmon lads loving it

Wilson positioning on that last goal is crazy and then to deliver the pass spot on is soooo perfect

Shar's ping passes are so under rated!!.

Some pure quality passeges of play today. Tripps is elite, Murphy man of the match & Longstaff is becoming a force. Clean sheet, Wilson goal, Tonali reception & some vital minutes for JL7 are all just happy bonuses on top of a magnificent display of football and fan dedication.

Agreed longstaff is improving so much he just needs to stop diving though it’s so obvious when he does it and when he does get fouled refs don’t wanna give him it cause they assume it’s a dive

Wilson goal is incredible, nobody need to touch the ball before passing and Wilson just need to trap ball on to his right with ease.

Liverpool fan here but what a joy it's been following this Newcastle story. Glad to be able to enjoy watching this team while Liv were so heartbreaking to watch last season

I can remember the heady days of the ultimately unfulfilled Keegan era. I never thought I’d see us playing football like that again but wow we’re on another level now and this team might actually win something.

Note to commentator, it looked all too easy because we are a bloody good team.

Fabian Schar is just a ridiculous player these days. Amazing passer, great long shot, can bring the ball out of defence and is solid defensively. Can't really think of any other defenders that can do all the things he can do.

I think high quality and stable management as well as player development have been our biggest assets since the takeover. FFP will restrict us on transfers until the club builds its brand and rakes in higher returns. Most of the starting XI was there when Bruce was in charge and look at them now.

Oil money only provided the stability (and maybe hype/morale?) The players mostly were already there!

For me, much better balance having a right foot on the right side ... Crosses for Gordon and Wilson goals probably wouldn't have happened with miggy. Both have their strengths, but just think we create better with a right footer playing there
