After getting some quick footage of the Garpac, I was directed just down the road where I found this clean-up truck moving along. I tailed these guys briefly, but then they took a quick break not long after I met up with them... that's when the Sidepak came roaring up the street right on cue =] After videoing the garbage and recycling trucks, I headed back to find this white rear loader collecting within some streets containing some decent piles. I was really lucky to get these three clips, as they packed out and were off to the tip not long after I caught up to them.
When I found out that Cleanaway did the bulk-waste collections in Newcastle, I pictured a young ACCO, a tough 28m JP5 mounted on top, the whole machine in a blue scheme and a Cummins engine roaring hard. Instead of my initial expectation, I saw this very old and battered 19m JP5 on an International, with the plain white scheme, operating at idle and not packing the hardest load. I don't think Cleanaway does this job anymore as the service has recently become on-call and the council just took on some new rear loaders. Not the fastest action on video, but the packer runs a little quicker a few times when the driver hits the throttle.
