To all my black siblings, who feel this good from seeing the Haka performed for you, we Native Americans know EXACTLY what you feel cause we saw it at Standing Rock. I beg my fellow Native peoples, PLEASE preform your dances for our black siblings, show your support, whether you'er an experienced powwow dancer or not, do it, show you're love, spread what the Maori did for us at Standing Rock.

I’m an American who has Native American ancestry, though a small percentage. My genetic makeup is primarily white. I watch hakas because they alternately fascinate and inspire me. I also tear up. I know very little about my native ancestry, as it has been diluted over time. I have no knowledge even to what tribes my ancestors belonged. I feel saddened when I realized how native Americans were nearly erased, their culture tamped down and forced to be hidden away. I am proud to be an American, but not of its legacy in terms of how non-whites were treated. America has to do better.

@Darren Scott no. Everyone can be racist. Sadly, I have seen racist comments from people of colour. Just because you're white, doesn't mean you're racist. But also, just because you are a person of colour, doesn't mean you are active in reducing racism. This is hard and difficult, but this is a fight against racism, constitutional, constructional racism. Racism embedded in our society. Racism embedded in our world. This is a fight against that. For a society where everyone, of every race, is treated equally and has the same opportunities as anyone else. No matter the colour of your skin.

We want equality for people, all people. We want to stand united and value each other's lives based on the fact that we're all human not by the color that human may be. What you said was beautiful because there is no us/them rhetoric. And it makes us all accountable. It says hey no matter what your skin color is, if you are saying things or judging people based on the color of their skin rather than the content of their character, you need to take a good hard look at yourself. But I digress. Thank you for your words. You're amazing.

From the beautiful Haka from the Maori in New Zealand, which come on, who DOESN’T cry anytime they are blessed to see a Haka performed? But, this time omg I felt the warrior spirit! Goosebumps!! Seeing all of our white allies in such large numbers, fighting, standing, and kneeling WITH US!!! I was literally taken aback. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 Watching my beautiful, strong, and resilient black community dancing in the streets peacefully in the name of George Floyd, all of the others we have lost due to police brutality, and justice brought back a joy I haven’t felt in so long. Yes, BLACK LIVES MATTER!!! We will continue to fight the battle as long as the battle persists!! Period! Sending love and blessings to all that read this!!!

It's like a huge weight was lifted from my back, and nothing's really even been done yet. To my fellow human race, i see you, and I'll never forget what youre doing for my people. Stay safe to all of you. Edit: to clarify, im not happy theres looting, rioting and violence, I'm happy to see the passion globally. Lets hope the fighting stops sooner rather than later!

I recognise the second one they perform as being "Tika Tonu" which I used to perform with a kapahaka group as a child Ki aro Kia whakaronga, kia mau! Hi ! Ringaringa e torōna kei waho hoki mai! Kss Kss Tika tonu! U - e! Tika tonu! U... e! Tika tonu atu ki a koe, e tama Hiki nei koe aku whakaaro, pakia! He hiki aha to hiki? He hiki roa to hiki? I a ha hā! E tama, te uaua ana E tama, te mārō Roa ina hoki ra Te tohe o te uaua na E tāu nei. Āna! Āna! Āna! Aue... Hī! ENGLISH The leader of the group says the following: Pay attention Listen up, take your stance Arms outstretched, out and back The rest of the group joins in with call and response: What is right is always right! (that's right!) What is right is always right! (that's right!) Be true to yourself, my son! You have raised my concerns, so listen up.... . What is this problem you are carrying? How long have you been carrying it for? Have you got that? Right, let's go on. So son, although it may be difficult for you. Son, although it seems to be unyielding no matter how long you reflect on it the answer to the problem is here inside you. Basically it was written by a man for his son, and although translation isn't exact due Maori and English being so different, it's a haka often used to express understanding, solidarity and respect for movements and events.

@ A more correct pronunciation of Ka mate is more like ka-mar-tear. with out dragging the A or R so you're basically just saying the TE part. probably doesn't make sense lol but saying tay is usually the way a white person would say it.
