Welcome back to the mother land! How are the kids accents now lol. Some of those caravans and motorhomes are massively expensive! The Aussie ones are a nice modern style compared to the UK ones. The timber just looks old school now. Retro vans were cool tho. We used to have a 1964 Oxford pioneer 12 years ago. Good fun getting out there. Cheers

they are so spacious, they're weights aren't to massive just a 200kg more than these Aussie vans. You'd really want to be travelling slow in one of those though, and you might find it a little hard to fit in some places if your getting to long.

Keen to know if you saw any electric camper vans there? I saw a couple in an Auckland caravan show 4 years ago but they were just prototypes and I haven't seen any on the road or for sale? I'm just converting an electric van to a camper right now in Wellington. One of the great things about them is you can keep your heater on all night and it keeps a constant temp while you're in bed, plus no condensation whatsoever. Another plus is when you arrive at a site late at night, you don't wake anyone up with a noisy engine; they're totally silent - happy days! Oh, also, all of my appliances will run off the enormous 400v battery, so no leisure batteries, controllers, monitors, or wiring jobs needed. And when you're plugged into a powered site, you have a full 'tank' of electrons by the time you wake up - for free!

  • @leopardsgowild

Yip there were a couple of full electric caravans with the electric stove tops which run off the battery. I think I only remember seeing one there though... I'd be keen to see your set up when you got it all done.

@@leopardsgowild That's good to hear; I think they're going to be really popular once we get some decent electric van options on our shores. Sure, happy to give you a rundown of my van once it's all done; I'm pretty busy so it's taking painfully long, plus I know nothing about DIY or electrics!
