New York's Ultimate Italian Deli

Meet Emilio and Jospehine Polito, who run a one-of-a-kind Italian Deli in Whitestone, Queens. Their three sons - Tommy, Mario, and Angelo - all work in the deli too, and will remember your name (most of the time), your order, and be the first to tell you that nobody's cooking compares with their mom's. Tony's is their home. We just might move in, too.

Unfortunately too expensive for the average Joe to go more than twice a month. People rather go to Aldi and Walmart.

Love businesses/people like this. Who cares if it is fully authentic, nothing is anymore. Embrace the love they have for the culture and good food.

"Fully Authentic" is a complete gimmick anyways. Cuisine and culture evolve rapidly, and thats how businesses develop a niche to secure themselves in. That's authentic.

When you goto Tony’s, it’s an entire experience, the quality is always the highest, on a cold day they hand you an espresso, and the holidays at Tony’s.

Thought I had one of these here in ga in a Walmart. Opened up a lemonade shop that’s really good and the dude running it is just like this. I come up and look at the prices one day and decide I’m not really feelin some $15 pretzel bites today and his demeanor went from this to just glaring at me like I’d wasted his time by silently looking at his menu for 5 seconds

Hard work fine but he also had a million other factors that lead to his success. Claiming you're a success because of hard work only shames those who worked equally hard and didn't make things work.

Don't shame his hardwork then. It's his shop so if he says it's pure hardwork then it is. Stop trying to project something onto him because that's how he sees his experience. From securing a spot to business permits and even getting that first customer it's a very arduous task and regardless if he was smart or lucky or anything else he views this as a labor of love and a product of hardwork. Hardwork is hardwork. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. Please don't put it on the shoulders of those who succeeded to not credit their achievement to hardwork.
