New York Public Library Gives Access To Commonly Banned Books

Efforts to ban books in the U.S. reached unprecedented levels last year, but the New York Public Library is launching a new program called “Books for All,” that aims to make some of those books available across the country. President of the New York Public Library, Tony Marx, joins News NOW to share why the program is so important and whether there are any common themes among banned books.

"so-called" it's supposed to be a Democratic (adjective) Republic (noun). Ever been to a Library? It's not a democracy. It's a Representative system. Supposed to be. In reality it's a MICorpratocracy.

Because there's a lot of ignorant people in this country who are afraid of any book that doesn't fit in with their narrow-minded world view, and who have no basic idea about how democracy is supposed to work.

Im not racist but if you watch anything on tv there is always one of every race and the blacks are represented as uneducated hood ratts. I have many black friends that have brought this to my attention. Theres no equality in race equality. We are all humans the common ground we share is existince. But to be made to exist a certain way is not up to anyone but the person living it. We have been lead like stupid sheep to cliff edge and we following the death of our childrens chance to make there own way in life. Fate isnt seen but doesnt mean it should be controlled.

    Maybe The South Needs Book-Mobiles

Are you kidding? Those Southerners now have such a right-wing mentality, they'd probably think the books in the Book-Mobiles are either written by Communists or pedophiles. (Marjorie Taylor Greene is a Southerner too, from Georgia)

Let people have access to any book they want, with the exception of adult themed books not given to children if they are deemed inappropriate for certain age categories, just like movies are rated… no book should be banned in America

The way I see it them banning books may have inadvertently awakened an interest in reading and learning. It treats education as rebellious. Reverse psychology perhaps?

I remember reading Catcher in the Rye in high school in 63 or 64. I think we kids had about five or six copies of it. We passed it around from one to another. It certainly wasn't a book we were going to find in the school library. We all had to hide it from our teachers and our parents. Probably more kids read this book, because it way forbidden.

I read it in the 70s because I heard they had banned it in some school systems. That made me look for it in my public library. It wasn't required reading in my school.

Islam honors all the prophets who were sent to mankind. Muslims respect all prophets in general, but Jesus in particular, because he was one of the prophets who foretold the coming of Muhammad. Muslims, too, await the second coming of Jesus. They consider him one of the greatest of Allah's prophets to mankind. A Muslim does not refer to him simply as "Jesus," but normally adds the phrase "peace be upon him" as a sign of respect. No other religion in the world respects and dignifies Jesus as Islam does. The Qur'an confirms his virgin birth (a chapter of the Qur'an is entitled "Mary"), and Mary is considered to have been one of the purest women in all creation. ____________________________

Religion just isn’t respected like it should be. It’s become tribalism. Sad, no one should be judged by their beliefs.

The Angel Gabriel was sent to Mary in the form of a man, with glad tidings of a child who was to be born miraculously without a father. “Then We sent to her Our spirit (angel Gabriel), and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: ‘Surely I seek refuge from you with the Most Beneficent (God) if you do fear God.’ He said: ‘I am only a messenger of your Lord: to announce to you the gift of a righteous son.’ She said: ‘How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?’ He said, ‘Thus [it will be]’. Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.’” Qur’an 19:17-21 Some claim that his miraculous birth is evidence of Jesus’ divinity. However, Jesus was not the first to come into existence without a father, as Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) before him had neither a father nor mother. God says: “The likeness of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: ‘Be’, and he was. This is the truth from your Lord, so be not of the disputes.” Qur’an 3:59-60

Islam is a monotheistic religion, i.e. belief in only one God. Allah is that Supreme Being who has always existed and will always remain. Allah is the creator of the entire universe and all its contents. Allah is the creator of man, animals, etc. Allah is the Creator, Nourisher, Sustainer, Provider, gives life and death, sustenance and rain, etc. Allah chose various men among His creation for the guidance of mankind whom are called prophets or Divine messengers, from Adam to Jesus to Mohammed (peace be upon them all). Muslims believe that Mohammed (peace be upon him) is the final messenger of Allah, and the final Divine book which was revealed to him is called the Qur’aan which Muslims read and follow. This Divine book is in the Arabic language.

It's not about the books. It's more censorship. The republicans are all about freedom of choice and freedom but they are ones banning books
