New York police raid Columbia campus and arrest protesters | BBC News

New York City police have entered the Columbia University en masse and are arresting students.
The NYPD told the BBC officers have entered Hamilton Hall, an academic building recently occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters.
The activists had taken over the Hamilton Hall building nearly 24 hours earlier amid two weeks of campus protests over the Israel-Gaza war.
The police were authorised to go in by university authorities, after student demonstrators defied a deadline to disperse.

The same way we remember the student protests in the 1960s and the draft. I have always viewed it as privileged kids not really doing anything but over valuing their opinion. But when Vietnam veterans, wounded vets from combat MOSs, that’s different. That being said, I am college educated and think Israel has gone to far and killed to many innocents. Hopefully some policy does change. Not only because of the excessive collateral damage, but also Israel balking its allies that support them so much.

British writer and explorer Captain F.V. Raper (of the 10th Bengal) has written an eye-witness account of gorkhyani in the Asiatic Researches (vol. xi.) At the foot of the pass leading from Har Ki Pauri is a Gurkhali 'chauki' or post, to which slaves are brought down from the hills and exposed for sale. Many hundreds of these poor wretches, of both sexes, from three to thirty years of age, are annually disposed of in the way of traffic. These slaves are brought down from all parts of the interior of the hills, and sold at Haridwar at from 10 to 150 rupees. - F. V. Raper

Very sorry to burst your bubble, but 75%-to-85% of the USA supports Israel. I say this as someone who has voted for the left in in the last six elections. Instead of opposition, a significant group (about 20%) of the populace actually want the USA to take brutal actions against the Arabs. In just the first three weeks there have been 774 documented cases of Islamophobic incidents & have risen to 1,283 as of Nov 7 2023. At least 100 major US companies have already blacklisted any students who support Palestine from any jobs with their firms & another 1,000 aren't saying anything, but those students aren't getting any job offers either.

At the time, the head of the European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) vaccines strategy, Marco Cavaleri, said that there was an evident link between AZ vaccine intake and blood clots in the brain, but maintained that the benefits still outweighed the risks. According to World Health Organization data, the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine has an efficacy of 72%. As of April 2021, over 17 million people had received the jab in the EU and the UK, with just under 40 cases of thrombosis, according to the company.

Some of those people also want to be free of Israel due to the unlawful killings done by Israeli settlers who go unpunished and are allowed to occupy more land. The primary focus however, seems to be the removal of Hamas as a governing body.

Wrongly said. Because the other side isn't putting limits on what they're doing and sometimes you have to cross the line to be heard, esp. when you've got little power. Those with great power and authority don't exercise their limits; why should only those with little or none? To save yourself you can, but to save others, sometimes you can't. And other times you mustn't.

Allow me to tell you clearly, we are called “the people of Martyrs” and we are proud to sacrifice Martyrs.” [LBC TV (Lebanon) website, Oct. 24, 2023] “We are called a nation of martyrs,” said another top Hamas official, Ghazi Hamad. “And we are proud to sacrifice martyrs.” He promised more attacks: “There will be a second, a third, a fourth.” When asked whether he sought the annihilation of Israel, Hamad matter-of-factly replied, “Yes, of course.” Was it worth it? Is it worth it? All the innocent Israeli and Palestinian children would still be alive and those in the future will be alive. Hamas thinks it is. If you support Hamas so do you Hamas wants to annihilate you. How will you respond?
