I remember this day, going back to work in the financial district after that day. I was working for a government agency at the time just blocks away. I was greeted with a lot of military (vehicles, personnel, weapons) and thousands of missing people flyers.

Did nobody think the commercial at 19:45 was slightly inappropriate six days later?

to be honest ..I really dont think people paid any attention back then ..besides this program was an inspiring and to courage people to continue and dont let the terrorists win with other words life had to continue ...and third but not least ..commercial blocks are already planned and scheduled weeks before going on air ...and fourth ..MANY who had commercials in there contributed the costs for 9/11 victims and firefighters and their families

Pretty inappropriate. Surprised it aired, I remember the attacks and the media was restricted from playing anything deemed insensitive, including a long list of songs being banned from radio. I just remember "Tuesday's Gone With the Wind" pretty clearly for some reason. 9/11 happened on a tuesday. So we were aware and sensitive back then for sure.

I visited new york city in 2002 the first thing i noticed was the smell it smelled like zippo fluid and burnt steak all threw the city ill never forget that smell some people i talked to said it was jet fuel and burned bodies this was 9 months after the attack i went to the empire state building i didnt want to go to the top it kept going threw my mind what if another attack happens and a plane crashes into the building but i said to myself to honor the victims i wont be afraid anymore the terrorist wanted everybody to be afraid but i didnt allow it to enter my mind anymore and went to the top when i got up there it was so quiet and i looked down and thought the world trade center was taller than this building and people had to make a choice to either jump or burn alive the people on the streets looked like ants how bad was it in those towers that they had to make this choice? I could only imagine the horror i left there and walked to ground zero there was a fence filled with pictures of people that were lost and their belongings at the end of the fence was another fence wall that had something over it so you didnt have to look if you didnt want to so i peeled it to the side and seen ground zero it was a giant smoking hole with a thousand workers cleaning up there were alot of people there but none of them said a word we all just stood there nobody could talk it was shocking to see and it was heartbreaking i havent been back since
