Yes. Its a twelve layer. By no means does that make it less impressive. Gorgeous cake. love the idea of assembling it in a springform tin. Impressive layer slicing skills doing it by hand. Most impressive. Indeed you are talented!

Yea I count this as a 12 layered cake I count the cake not the frosting When i make a 2 tier cake I have two cakes on top and held together by either dowels or frosting I wouldn’t call a 2 tier cake a 4 tier cake because if the icing in the middle and on the top

With the amount of frosting on these cakes a swiss meringue buttercream would be much better (French and Italian could work but swiss is the safest as there isn't any raw eggs and the egg whites are cooked while melting the sugar before being whipped into meringue)

Cassandra Karpinski, not sure I agree. American buttercream is just whipped butter with icing sugar (and of course chocolate to make chocolate butter cream). Consequently, it tends to dry out and harden, leading to a rather unpleasant texture. I am less inclined to believe it is American buttercream.

Hello, german pastry chef here. There is a very traditional german gateau called "Prinzregententorte" (prince regent gateau) which has 8 layers (or in your case 16) of individually baked vanilla sponges layered with chocolate buttercream, covered in chocolate. The filling in this vid looked like chocolate whipped cream to me. Shout out to the chef, nice Zenker knife 😉

@@stephaniejohnson583 Well, cancer cells feed on sugar, which is a well-known fact. As a cancer survivor she should watch her sugar intake especially carefully. I recommend at least to switch to erythritol as substitute. I have a sweet tooth myself and been using erythritol for years for everything sweet I bake and cook. It's the best sugar replacement out there with no harmful side effects, compared to other sweeteners. It's also recommended for diabetics especially, since it has no impact on the blood sugar levels and has no calories. Keto diet also helps a lot with those cravings for simple carbs. All in all, it's never OK to give into those cravings if they're insatiable, there is most certainly a deeper issue behind that. Especially if your mom never cared for sugary foods for the most part of her life. When the brain craves sugar/glucose, it mostly craves energy. The human body doesn't NEED any kind of refined carbs or industrial sugar. Maybe your mom's main diet is lacking in saturated fats/Omega 3 that gives the brain that long lasting energy it needs? How about other essential nutrients? You should talk to a nutritionist about that. I think it's important to get that checked and fixed.

rocknmalenurse It is probably a Swiss or Italian meringue buttercream, so not very sweet (and thereby more tasty), but I imagine this is meant to be shared by a table of at least four. If you’ve ever been to NYC and ordered a sandwich from a deli, it’s the same thing-too big for one person by far. I’ve never even come close to finishing half a sandwich. My husband and I always shared one and still had leftovers. The biggest cake slice I’ve ever encountered was one it took five people to eat. This is in no way 24 layers-just 12-but it’s still impressive. I’ve never baked a cake with more than three (a 6” cake it took two people four days to eat).

I love the sound of the food hitting the kitchen utensils. That's nice. Like a piece of music. As the chocolate powder and flour filter, it becomes thinner. The rustling sound is very nice. I love chocolate, but I can't eat too much. It must be delicious.😊😊

That's a 12 layer cake, not 24. No one I've ever known counts the icing layers. You count the cake layers. Look up any "blank" layer cake, and count them. You can even google "12 layer cake" and see images just like these cakes.
