New Years Day Auto Extrication | 1/1/18 | Levittown, PA.

1/1/18 On scene video of a traffic accident involving a large suv and small sedan in the Levittown area of Middletown Township.
Police and EMS were initially dispatched around 2:45 to the intersection of Bristol-Oxford Valley and New Falls Roads for a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries. Levittown-Fairless Hills Squad 154 arrived and found a female driver trapped in a Hyundai.
Fire rescue was then called bringing two engines from William Penn as well as two rescue companies from neighboring Levittown #2 and Newportville along with an additional ambulance; a medic unit from Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad.
Levittown #2 Rescue 13 arrived and quickly went to work stabilizing the entrapped patient's vehicle. Three members of Engine 77 took a fire suppression stand by position with their booster line. Newportville Rescue 82 arrived moments later and assisted R13 with removing the driver's door using Jaws of Life.
Engine 7's crew assisted medics inside the vehicle with patient care while rescue crews utilized "O" cutters to remove the driver's side B post so they could also remove the rear door for better access. The patient was extricated at 3:08 and taken to St. Mary's Hospital by Penndel-Middletown EMS. The driver of the Silverado was transported the hospital as well to be evaluated. Both patients sustained non life threatening injuries.
Middletown Police worked their investigation on scene with the assistance of Bristol Township. MasterCraft towing recovered the vehicles and cleaned up debris from the roadway. The intersection was cleared of emergency services by 4:00.
This video was uploaded with the intent of local news reporting and documentation of the emergency services.

    I like your videos. They are not overtly loud and as of yet, I haven't witnessed any blood/gore/deceased...you seem to take care of respecting the involved party's privacy and dignity. Yet you show a ton of the work involved and team cohesion between departments. I like that. THAT is what I want to see...the destruction and extraction...not the horror that the victims endure.... Thank You.

    Why was the Honda driver put on an incline stretcher? When there's a serious car crash like that, I thought they always put the victim flat on a spineboard even if only as a precaution. That's what they did when I was in a bad car accident even though my only injuries turned out to be scratches, bruises, and burns from the airbag.

But there's no way to connect the reality that goes along with it, unless you've seen it, or have been a part of it. I honestly can't think of another way they'd be able to successfully remove someone without causing further injury.

  • @rrobertsnot5150

    @rrobertsnot5150

    6 жыл бұрын

    That is the protocol for the departments this area. Two rescue companies for operations and one engine to stand by for fire suppression. William Penn has two stations which run all calls together so they bought an engine from each station. With these being volunteer companies they occasionally don't get enough trucks out so it's better for them to call more than not enough.

    It's not the total time it takes that matters, it's the time it takes once the situation has been assessed. they need to check the driver, then look for exposed wires, leaking fuel etc. Then check to see what is being carried in the car in case of risk . The tools take a while to set up with the relevant jaws. This was a fairly decent job, nothing stellar but speedy and professional. Well done to all involved.
