I still remember having a 1st gen X21 (D cell version) and how impressed I was that it could throw about 1000 lumens.

I have the original 1000 lm xr21 led lenser and that sucker is heavy I simply don't use it anymore

Very ankward. The X21R is to huge for having only 5K lumens. I like LEDLENSER in general. Especially their headlamps which are pretty much the best out there. My P7R is well, acceptable, it's almost too bulky, in a 1000LM range it's still ok to use. This X21R is no way haha. For the size of the X21R... from other brands you'd get a flashlight up to 100K lumens, even more. Which would make the sense of a big size.

We got an ummer. Umm.

For less than that money you can get an x70, which is more than 10 times brighter than this. The lenser brand was THE brand to have many years ago... Until the real competition showed up: Fenix, Nitecore, Olight, Acebeam! This is a very clear example of how it's just impossible to compete with Chinese companies now. It's good for the consumer though. I'd pay ~$200 for this light, maybe 300 out of respect for this company's legacy in the flashlight world.

Are you getting the Lenser quality and after service though. I think this is the main selling point for Led Lenser. I test for all those companies you have mentioned, none come close to the build quality of the x21r.

@@jyeprice9382 yes but X70 can hold 8000 lumens for 2 hours without step down, which is still much better than the X21R. And i think X21 R can't hold 5000 lumens without step down. The only advantage of Led lenser is the focus system which is efficient.

I admit, lenser is a bit overpriced. But you gotta remember that torches brighter than this that aren’t led lenser only last for like 2 minutes and then die. This one lasts for 2 hours

@@michael.pintabona5949 Acebeam L35 can operate at 1500 lumens for 1.5 hours without stepdown : 1lumen.com/review/acebeam-l35/#flashlight-performance and this is much smaller and cheaper than X21R
