I still have the first version of that lamp (2012). It's a relict of the good old past, well built, usable but superseded by a plethora of other lights. Every year these 'Cree' units getting more powerful. My 'Ace Beam 80' has 25000 lumens and that is already an old hat these days. I won't go any further than that. I love my 'Led Lenser' P7R a lot. Plenty good enough for everyday use.

so happy i found a dedicated channel to flashlights! i really enjoy the fair comparisons, thanks for that! but i have to ask the question you probably get often, can you recommend the best flashlight under $50? just need a nice and bright throw. was thinking either the sofrin c8f or the wuben l50, although im really leaning towards the sofrin, thanks again!

@@CharlesBridgTec Charles! i received my c8f and put it to use tonight, loved it! although for some reason i didn't receive a manual, got it off of Amazon, should i be worried? im new to flashlights and i feel like i might've gotten a returned flashlight, but maybe im over thinking it. also the seal on the battery was offset where only one side of the threads was holding it in place. but again, maybe it's normal and im overthinking it

Alkaline D batterers?? Im really confused and must seek professional help.

I had the previous version.. Led lensers just like Maglites are prety much obsolete at this stage. As a brand they are good quality built and parts are excellent no doubt but as a whole they dont really hold up to the quality of todays standards.. always thought they were way too over priced for what u were getting even back then in terms of Lumens or functions and battery life they still use the old Alkaline Batteries which dont last even close to what the Li-ION ones do. even the rechargeable ones But for emergency is actually still not bad. Good to have as a backup. I dont think they can compete with the quality range of lights anymore that we getting these days But The one thing i would say i really like about them and they got right was their Flood.. very large flood clear spill area no dark spots at all Lights up everything around u very crisp sharp light. good if ur exploring like u said or if ur with a group of people or even on an ATV it does nicely. I used to strap mine at the front worked really well.. It has one of the smoothest zoom functions ive used. that alone wouldnt make me get one, but for that Price drop Il definately be checking it out Charles! Its worth it for that price range and ur getting something thats a been around for a while and its a Trusted brand. Good review!👍👍

So which brand and model you think is comparable to this in terms of lumens and burn time etc but with the li ion batteries that you mention?

IF I were to bother getting this flashlight I would definitely mod something up to use lithium batteries in it. At 1500 lumens only, this is a big ass light! But would definitely be good for use as a self defense club, especially if you walk your dog at night. It having PWM though does not justify a cost of more than $100 imho. Charles was being nice in this review.

Actually its $78 dollars and its being retired. Plus runtimes are amazing for D size alkaline cells. Well worth this price. Thanks for watching!

Btw... you wouldn’t happen to know if 8.4 vdc would be too much for it?? That would only be 2.4 more volts than what the 4 D cells would provide. Do you happen to have a CS number for Led Lenser?? For zoomies you should do flood, medium, then spot all in one go to see the whole function

People know how to use the zoom feature of the light for I show this when looking at the LED's. Using the light is quite simple so main feature of flood and throw were shown and not moving the beam in and out. Thanks for watching!

Well... us Brirs can't get this at a reduction even if I wanted to on Amazon UK it's £213 and change I'm guessing that's àbout 250 - 260 USD
