Very interesting movie to watch. The world's were found on blood and deceit. The killings started a long time ago yet no total freedom.

Five minutes in and I'm marveling at how quickly - and with no apparent effort! - the colonists fire their muskets and pistols! Richard Sharpe would've been MIGHTY impressed! (I hope "historical accuracy" improves . . . .)

This is interesting to watch considering I live in Hudson, NY which borders MA... the First Nations Tribes here are the Hudson River Vally Mohican Tribe, made mainstream by the movie.. Last of the Mohican's, and the Munsee of MA. Now indigenous tribes and practices are mainstream and intrinsic part of the local culture. In fact there are real talks about reparations and bringing back the Mohicans to their ancestral lands. It's crazy how time changes everything. And how stories have many different sides to them and are definitely subjective.

I figure my ancestor must've been one of Cromwell's lot, because he was well known drinking, brawling and B.S. He ended up in the stocks a lot That doesn't sound too Puritan to me. It is good to see Patrick Malahyde get to portray a character more like those his younger years prior to losing his hair. He has too much talent to be confined to playing weasels.

Oliver Cromwell's mother was a Steward (Me too) which derives from the Stewart's of Scotland which King Charles in this movie descends. I remember in grade school (1960s) we studied the Puritans and they would put their fellow members in the stockade for getting out of line with things like drunkenness. ☺

Be careful in learning history through movies because movie directors many times use something called: 'poetic freedom' to portray historic figures. Therefore, we should watch movies like this with 'a grain of salt' and always look the real history behind the movie through good literature.

All ancient countries are blood soaked. The scandinavian and nordic countries are top scorers in humanitarian indices today...but if you know about the viling invaders and their actions you would consider their ancestors barbarians.if you do t believe me look up their actions at Lindisfarne..or look up the punishment known as the spread eagle.only someone from the new world would make such a naive comment lol!

Watchable, but wildly inaccurate historically. Three of the ten accused of regicide fled to America - Dixwell, Goffe and Whalley. Dixwell was presumed dead in Europe so never looked for, and Goffe and Whalley were never caught and lived through the War of Independence and the American Civil War. Going by the speed with which orders went from Britain to America I was surprised they didn't pull out mobile phones!
