I myself lost my grandmother to the nazis. My mother at the age of four, saw her mother,seven months pregnant, beheaded by a nazi ss officer in a small village outside of Sparta Greece. This story will be forever told, for many generations. This movie reminded me of my mother's story. Hopefully war and destruction will stop .

It's more European history, no harm looking into the Greek War of Independence, it's time most Americans study European history in general and not focus too much on the the 2 world wars. As it turned out The Russians, French and British came into the war on the side of the Greeks. Note the Russians kicked the Turks out of Crimea a few years earlier, hopefully that rings a few bells.

Because they're so isolated by oceans on both sides they've become so extremely insular. They think they have no reason to care about anything else or any other place. That idea is extremely narrowminded and stupid, and it creates so many problems for them, at home and abroad, but they believe it anyway. To the extent that they've become extremely xenophobic. Their country is a goddam disaster, but they refuse to see anything that speaks any truth about it. Instead they just yell "USA, USA, USA!" at the top of their lungs. Since WW2 the politicians have been using that war to manipulate them, and sure they had reason to be proud, but OMG! They've become delusional and arrogant! They think no other people or place are any good, so they of course are the best in everything, in every way. It makes us Canadians sick. We are isolated too, but we work at overcoming the problem of being cut off. We're bombarded by their bullshit 24/7, and it just seems to keep getting worse. Heaven help us if that maniac Trump gets elected again next year! We're far from having gotten over the last Trump presidency! Both of their 2 parties are are a disaster, and both are protecting Trump, who should be in jail for life. It's unbelievably depressing for Canadians. watching this film gives me a glimpse of the Greek history of independence that heroes and heroine are born Christina was embodiment of true leader tho her death is unacceptable but on one hand it gives strength and bravery for his people. Was this ever nominated for an Oscar? It sure deserves several! It's visually very beautiful, as well as all of the usual things we look for. So much perfect attention to detail in every way. It should have been a blockbuster! But instead the crap about stupid comic book charachters keeps rolling on the reels, or whatever they use in theatres now. That is so incredibly dumb. How Americans can be stupid enough to pay a huge amount of money for that, I'll never know! I wouldn't even be able to sit through one of those! I did try once. I forget if I left or fell asleep. I didn't see it all though. It was the first of the X Men series, and it bored me to tears. Garbage gets celebrated and great shows like this get ignored! It makes no sense.
