    @clintwestwood3539 What is being paid for with an Esse, is their outstanding warranty. Essentially you're buying two knives - a current and future replacement, for those who really thrash/abuse and neglect their blades. If Work Tuff Gear had a similar no questions asked warranty, you could expect a way higher price point. WTG only has a 6 month warranty after purchase - they obviously think purchasers will use their tools appropriately....

    @@TheScotchaholic Lame excuse considering how that’s the price of three knives in 1095. You have Slavs doing custom works at 200/220€ with CPM steel like Magnacut and S390 or M390. It’s unjustifiable to ask more than 80€ for a slab of 1095 even with a decent warranty. Keep on buying them tho, I’m glad they are going outside 1095 lately with A2 and Magnacut and said they will keep on doing this. Using 1095 in 2023 for knives (not machetes) is mind boggling.

    @@TheScotchaholic Don’t you have companies selling 80crv2 (arguably better @ 60 to 62 hrc) like Rokks at 100€ with the same warranty? It’s insane to justify it lmao I’m just glad people are tired of it and they are going for A2 and Magnacut now.

    Waiting for the ares. But why switch to k340 instead of sk85?

  • @d.b.hemlock

    @d.b.hemlock

    8 ай бұрын

    I did the first runs in SK85 at 5/16 thick and they are an absolute beast. So this last batch I went with Bohler K340 and 1/4" thick to lighten the load slightly, and provide a much longer lasting edge. Bohler K340 shares similar properties to CPM 3V and holds an edge very nicely. The K340 versions are just as tough as the SK85 versions and from my testing do stay sharper longer. Especially when battoning through some tough stuff. 🤘

    When Work Tuff becomes a real company I might patronise their them. They give knives away to reviewers, but I’m unlikely to find one when I actually have the money to spend, they seem to be laughing at me, and I do have some expensive high end knives, the trouble is WTK doesn’t care about the common man.
