New Wandrd PRVKE 21L Backpack - Review + What FITs w/ Pro Camera Cube?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Let's talk about the limited edition Wandrd PRVKE 21L Gobi Tan backpack. I even picked up the Pro Camera Cube to fill this thing up. I'm doing a full review of the backpack and then we're going to see how much stuff we can fit in this backpack.

    The roll top is great when traveling. I put everything I need to bin at the TSA checkpoint in one bag. MacBook Pro 14 inch, iPad, and Arcido toiletries kit. No other bag gets opened.

    Great video. Do you think a larger body camera like a D850 would fit through the side door with a 24-70mm lens attached? Also can you access the top compartment from the top with the Pro camera cube?

    Best review. I'm really feeling this bag because I don't like zippers and such exposed directly to the back where I can be easily pickpocketed. I like where they put the zippers. I can see using the upper portion of the bag for 360 gear and the bottom for my DSLR easily. Nice!

    Hi Des, great video - I know this one's a bit old, do you still have/use this bag or have you found something better that fits your needs? How about the PD tote pack? Which do you prefer between the two? Thanks!

    I’ve only heard amazing things. I’ve been considering it for a long time - if not just to review - but I find myself with less and less gear lately. It may be way more space than I need for my normal camera carry. I barely need the 21L anymore 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Thanks for the review. I carry a tiny musical keyboard with me (teenage engineering OP1, inside a case). I think it’s about 12-13 inches in length. So question is, does the divider between the loft portion and the main compartment zip open to allow me to put my long item in it vertically, with it perhaps extending up into the loft/roll top area?

    I am looking to get the 31L for travel with the standard camera cube. My plan is to carry an A7R3 with 24-70 F2.8, 16-35mm F2.8, a prime (probably the 55mm), a 1.4x teleconverter and my backup Sony A7R2. In the top section I am going to store my 100-400mm in the case it came in and then all my other s**t. I have a bunch of different bags / cubes but nothing like this that holds my "Holy Trinity" with the other stuff I want to take. My main other bags are an F-Stop XL camera cube to hold all my gear (great for long trips where you want to take everything - but take different suff out each day in smaller bags), a pack-safe smaller backpack that can hold effectively a 2 lens setup, a messenger bag for city trips, and an Osprey Stratos 36 - which is big enough for the Holy Trinity and all the other stuff you need for hiking all day - but is far too big to take on a plane. Super excited about the PRVKE.

    I have the 31L original bag in Green (the best color in the world) and I love it! I got the essentials + cube….I though about the Pro bag but I wanted half for cloths and travel. It’s my travel bag, but could also be my daily cary lol It is very comfortable. Great video dude!

    Love that idea! I think if I bought the 31L I would also go half cube. The extra 10L and the depth would be perfect. With this smaller size - I’ll definitely have a separate carry on or duffle day bag for clothes and non tech essentials. I tend to be a two bag kind of traveler. Normally a rolling suit case and a tech/camera backpack when I travel for work or pleasure. I’ve been thinking a lot about what a one back carry might look like for my needs - been watching a lot of reviews on the new Shimoda Xplorer V2 backpacks. Especially the 35L they make.

    @@ItsDesmond, I have the Explorer v2 35l. I thing they both have different style. Prvke 21/31 are for urban use and can do travel and maybe adventure. The aesthetics are nicer especially the Gobi Tan. The Explorer v2 35l is more adventure and can get away with urban and travel. You have less color options but it’s strengths are harness system, more access to bag than Prvke, no rolltop, all zippers, and Shimoda provides rain cover, waist straps, and one set of straps. And the interior is balanced with a light sea green/bluish lining and the camera cubes are light green so you can see your gear easier. I don’t have the Pvrke v2 but I just got the Frenweh for the same reasons that the Explorer v2 strengths and will try to cinch it down for air travel and see if I can get away with it. I also got the Gobi Tan as it’s a sweet color. Outdoor pack that looks aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for the video on the 21l!

    When you travel does this bag fit under the seat as a personal item. I was worried it would be too big and airlines would consider it a carry on.

    Is the "blemish" very noticeable? I am kinda considering it too as a smaller on-location daypack while traveling. Thanks.

  • @ItsDesmond

    @ItsDesmond

    Good question. I can’t seem to find it on my bag. So definitely not noticeable. There is some dark stitching I can see on the inside of the water bottle pocket - but that’s literally on the inside and covered. Not sure thats what they considered the blemish. And my thought when buying it was that with this color - you’ll probably create a couple “blemishes” after regular use. But again- can’t seem to find one on mine.

    Thank you for showing the pro cube in the 21L version, no one else did this (I've watched around 20 vids about this bag so far) I was struggling to find the right bag that would fit a few purposes; like everyday carry, essentials for portrait shoots as well as the ability to increase size for weddings when I need a bit more space for a second camera and stuff like flashes - thanks!

    This! My biggest complaint is the essential cube is so small it gimps the bag. I’ve only seen this bag reviewed by photographers/videographers not travel bloggers so clearly it’s marketed towards camera people. So it KILLS me that the waste so much space by having you put a thick bag inside of this bag wasting SO much space. If the camera cube was built in (like the lite version) and you can just add or remove dividers it would have so much more room. I was on the verge of selling mine until I saw this video but now I’m going to order the pro cube and hope it transforms this bag. Thanks!

    Thanks for watching! Hm good question. If it was just one - I’d choose the 55mm. The new bodies are good enough to compensate for slower focusing. And my new camera body is the A7RV - so using the super 35 crop mode basically turns the 55 into a 75ish equivalent.

  • @ItsDesmond

    @ItsDesmond

    Thanks for watching, Rachel. I think it depends on what you want to carry. The pro cube holds a ton of gear - but really just camera gear. So the bag is naturally a bit heavy. If you just need a camera and an extra lens plus drone - I would go with a light weight hiking backpack and maybe a Peak Design capture clip. I would not hike 7-8 miles in that bag. If I was going to hike I would probably go with something small like a peak design everyday zip - which is really light and the compartment a hood a good amount of gear. Probably enough space for your water, snacks and other hiking essentials. And if you want a mavic in the top area for east access - the normal cube should be fine - but there’s not compartments in the roll too opening without some kind of cube. But you can always throw your mavic in its own pouch

    @@ItsDesmond yes I was thinking the same thing. I normally hike with a raptor 14L osprey which still fits a 20L hydration pouch, Sony a7riv 24gm & 50gm lol. So I ended up ordering 20&26L sportlite & hikelite ospreys ($90 each on Amazon, not bad) for longer hikes when I may want to bring a 3rd lense and then the pryvke 21 with regular cube to be able to safely bring a drone along on shorter hikes. Hoping this setup works. I have the peak clip, love it just barely end up using it since I move so fast on hikes and the camera bouncing around bugs me haha

    The camera cube in the 21L is the worst design Wandrd ever came up with! And while the Lite has more space in the camera portion, it sucks when you put weight on it, as it digs to your lower back making it very uncomfortable to wear.
