Justine, how has this setup been working a month into it? I've got the same rig and have a few pretty big issues: 1) No face tracking when the external monitor is tracking. 2) The dummy battery really doesn't work (only get a few min of life, SmallHD wasn't any help). 3) Focus pulsing issues when doing tripod shots.

I think you could definitely tighten up the whole system if you put a smallrig cage on there and put the mic on a cold shoe and mount the smallhd on a small ballhead or just fixed into another cold shoe into one of the 1/4-20 holes on the cage rather than that huge bracket putting the mic off to the side and the smallhd high in the air. It would help some.

I'd like to see you go full iJ crazy with your vlogging setup (including but not limited to 360 camera, drone, and Specs)

iJ always does the full unboxing experience by smelling her items!

Thank you very much for the unboxing! I didn’t know the battery was so big. A little too big and heavy in my opinion for a Sony hotshoe. It might break after a while.

Really doesn't matter how the setup looks... it's how well does it work for you. This is what I use for international travel, wedding videos, studio shoots, etc. It's been great (especially because of that massive battery)

have you tried the atomos systems? they have a ton of features and record 4k 30fps onto ssd. i love mine.

The Panasonic Lumix as you say is much better with the flip out screen. That seperate monitor makes it very heavy to hold for a long time. Have to go to the gym.

Get you a Canon powershot sx730 hs, good for vlogging & it can go up to 60fps 1080p. That’s what I bought myself for vlogging. Plus it has 40x zoom & you can flip it right up to see yourself while you vlog.

Mostly the cameras you use are Sony? I thought you said the M5 was your go to vlogging cam? At least that's what you said when it came out.

Lol! We tried carrying something like this in public. It looked absolutely ridiculous! The difference was we also had a small recorder attached for the Ride micro because we were using the Sony A6000 which doesn't have a mic jack.

Is the need to check focus with the A6500 really that important? ... let's say you set it to autofocus continuously, register your face, set it to track registered faces... that should be it, face in focus all the time ... or is it more of a framing issue, which could be dealt with by practising? ... or am I just being naive? :)
