I picked up the $40 Japanese version based on your videos. I don’t even notice the play in the bit holder when I’m using it. Well worth the $40. It’s one of my favorite tools. 👍

@MORGANSMaintenance I only knew about it because of yours and bzeug’s videos. Other than buying Makita’s A-44672 bit piece, you have the best/quickest/simplest solution. Bzeug completely disassembled and modified his, and still didn’t fix the play/wobble.

Or just use Japanese double sided bits 👍. That Tone or engineer adapter we talk about work well. In a pinch wera rapidadptor does the job.

I have my two knockoffs (for different bags), so I don't need another. I've bought some more bits though. The magnet in the bit-holder grabs the bit, but not a screw. If I put a bit-magnet on a longer bit, that will hold screws.

Thank you for showing us differences that really matter when buying this kind of tool. That play is really interesting. Why didn't they make the collet/chuck that would fit the US bits better? And that price difference is even more interesting. Even with shipping from Japan, it's still cheaper than buying US version.

This is embarrassing. I have the Japan version and didn't realize that light was a speed button. lol I have only used it a couple of times so it must have been on low. I just received the Makita impact stick driver from Japan. Bzeug showed them on his channel. I really like it. He made a video about not being sure the Japanese charger would be OK for the U.S. and the comment section told him it's fine so that's why I bought it. So far really happy with and I also like the Vessel. I bought all JIS bits for it also. I have the Makita bit adapter #A-44672 It takes the slop out of the chucks if you want to use the other bits. Your spacer might even be better.

I use 2 of thr Japanese versions myself and never was left with wanting a 9mm chuck. I use the Japanese double sided bits a ton they are made well fit well no complaints. The bit that comes with the special edition color ones or even anex ratcheting screwdriver replacement bits are perfect for outlets and switches ph2/sl6. If you want to use your Japanese bits in usa chucks wera rapidadptor or engineer dr-22. I'm glad you tried this before me I don't think the us model is for me and even at that mine live with thr Japanese bits in it anyways. For thoes who want a local bit that fits in the Japanese check dewalt has a double ended bit sl/ph that is sold at lowes but won't fit in a US impact. Thanks for saving me from a return.

Most of us are too lazy to spin a screwdriver these really do help us save our wrists. Moat of what people do with these are outlet switches and assembly of very low torque things. It's too bad it doesn't work out for you since it's about the smallest powered driver you can get that's usable manually.
