Man that was a better race than I thought. That was probably one of the best short track races in the next gen era that I've watched. There was a lot more passing than I thought considering the comments Christopher Bell made. I felt like there was no dominant groove, which was fun to watch, not to mention the amazing NBC coverage. As a diehard Penske fan, A great start to the month of June. 85% on the groovy gauge. P.S I will say, in stage 2, NASCAR throwing that caution for Daniel Hemric hitting the wall out of turn 2 when others hit the wall as well earlier was super crap. Adam Stevens was 100% right with what he said on the radio.

Unless you want to watch the race will no sense of strategy or understanding of why the cars are driving how they are, I don't understand that. Bobby Labonte at Martinsville and Kyle Busch has done it twice ( I think both tracks he's done it at. He won all 3 races in a single weekend). I think this accomplishment deserves some recognition.

I, too, really like NBC’s coverage. The booth was really solid, even without Dale Jr. I think the three-person booth works a little better than with four. But their production is light years ahead of FOX. Not only is the sound mixing superior, but, as you noted, NBC offered multiple views. Another big difference was the shot framing. NBC noticeably pulled back to show more cars in the frame. FOX often is so tight on the cars you can almost see through the window nets.

I feel like bowman doesn’t get enough credit for today. He started 33rd today, and made it to 11th by the end of stage 1. Ridiculously consistent once again.

If Josh Berry doesnt hit the 47 under caution, or Rodney does 2 tires instead of 4, I think the 4 wouldve been a top 2 car. Pretty impressive run for whats going on over there.

As in, driving the 17? I know Brad said they're already $40M in the hole, so unless he and Smoke had a few cold ones at a drag strip somewhere and Smoke gave him a 75% off deal, in order for Berry/Childers to race at RFK Buescher has to hit the road and his crew chief Scott Graves goes in-house or is shopping for a new home.

I agree that NBC's coverage was a big step-up from Fox's. I'll be curious to see how it goes once the put Leigh Diffey in the booth in place of Rick Allen. I wonder how Steve and Jeff and the gang will work with Leigh.

Leigh Diffey may be the catalyst to move Letarte and Burton to Amazon and CW/whoever next season with Dale Jr. [IF they can financially handle just 10 Cup races vs the second half of the season.. but if you add in Xfinity and all the practices and qualifying, a whole work weekend FRI-SAT-SUN deal may be lucrative enough to them... IF There's room where Jr is.. Where's my magic 8 ball?! Haha]

Saying that Larson's move was risky is like saying going to the convenient store to buy a scratch off is risky, because you might get mugged. The risk level 1 out of 10 at best is like a 3, come on people.

I got a little bubble gut listening and having to watch Larson come through the field. Yes, we get it. He's the best thing on 4 wheels. Duly noted. It felt like I was watching Jimmie Johnson Racing, where cameras followed every. single. pass. and turn the man made. Glad NBC pulled the focus back though to at least show the other cars (and threr sponsors) as he slipped by. I appreciated the split screen during his charge through the field.

This is an obnoxiously long comment, but looking at the season objectively, Kyle hasn’t actually been that bad. He’s made some small mistakes (like all of the field), but many of the issues this season have had little to do with him. To recap: flys through the field at Daytona with no teammate help and gets sold by Chase Elliott at the end and lands 12th, has a top 5/potentially race winning car at Vegas (dude was holding off Larson on old tires for over 30 laps) and pit crew sells him (he also got a penalty towards the end, but the day was kinda ruined by that point), running 1st/2nd at Bristol and becomes to first person to have tires fail and it ruined the car, gets run over by C Bell at COTA ( salvaged the day but should’ve been a top 5), top 10 or even race winning car at Talladega but ends up 27th after getting sold by Ty Gibbs (who destroyed their entire lane), possibly race winning car at Dover but the pit crew doesn’t get the car fully fueled and he has to come back down pit lane and restart 7th instead of 3rd or 4th. Kansas, he was leading during the third stage and the field decided to go full stupid and have a caution fest, he just eventually spun because the tires were on cords (mind you, so was Larson- it was pretty much a game of who was going to let go first, Larson just got lucky that KB spun), but by the 21st to 8th comeback, probably had a race winning car. Charlotte- probably had a top 10 car but the pit crew had 2 penalties, plus a slow stop. Gateway had a top 10 car, but wrecks due to hard racing. He deserves some blame there, but I think people were still being extra hard because of the whole Ricky Stenhouse Jr. incident (even Larson admitted he could see why KB was upset because of how he raced him into 1, and I don’t think KB meant/thought Larson was going to lose it, he was just showing his displeasure (like everyone does). Minding his own business and on his way to a top 5 day when he gets Chastained at Sonoma on the last lap, and has a top 10 car ( and pit crew actually gaining spots for him!) but ends up with a mechanical failure at Iowa. The only races they’ve truly brought shopping carts to were Richmond, Phoenix (tbh all the Chevy’s were plowing there )and Darlington. Martinsville wasn’t great, but considering how horrible the short track program was last year, 16th was actually an improvement 😂. If not for all the bs, they’d probably have at least 1 win by now or be relatively safe within the cut line on points. They just need some luck, because something always happens when they have a good day going. I can only imagine how disappointing it is when you keep getting pianos dropped on your head for no reason and everyone adds insult to injury by saying you suck lol. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk 😂
