Personally, not a fan of removing seat tubes from bikes. You lose a place to put a bottle cage and that tube actually serves a second purpose to shield the rear wheel rotating into the wind at nearly twice the speed of the rider. If bikes had always been built without a seat tube, it would be considered a genius move to put one there for big functional and aero gains. Oh, and FIRST! Great work, David! Love your channel.

It’s been done before! Joker C4 carbon monocoque circa 1992. Remember seeing one in Graham Weighs bike shop window!!

@@galenkehler EXACTLY! I forgot about that. Modern materials make seatstays unnecessary and removing them actually adds a little rear suspension. Culprit made a cool one like that for triathlon.

A hardcore hardtail with cable routing going through the headset. Absolutely no way I’m touching that, heck no, what are they thinking.

The continental aero tire looks cool. She did a great job of explaining it. I’m ready to try it.

Suspension stem with elastomers was in 90's i have one still at home in papar box but with steel spring inside, works nice but wasnt much stiff at side push directions. It was super for small road bumps to 30-40mm travel.

From what I've seen, the Cane Creek Eesilk suspension stem is still the best out there in terms of adjustability, it lets you change the elastromer without unscrewing the whole stem, and it has a switch that can toggle the stem between suspension and firm. The one shown in the video is just the same as Redshift, only with a rounder look.

That OE SRAM AXS transmission & cassette with replacable part is absolute genius from sram. As a shimano fan, i have to admit, killer move from sram.

I find Sram's split cog cassettes their biggest usable innovation in years. I love their drivetrains, but having to ditch the whole cassette when the smallest cogs are worn down is a waste.

LOL if you're wearing through the smallest cogs on the cassette then it means you need a bigger chainring

34 years that's crazy and to make it an integrated cable stem another 30 years hehe

I can’t believe they’re using 15° yaw as their marketing number on those aero tires. It’s rare anyone even sees over 10°. But I guess 15watts sounds a lot better than 3watts

I'd like to see a suspension stem with internal routing (under). Redshift do one with BMC but they are 250 quid and not in the uk

That cassette with replaceable smaller cogs is a great move.

Yeah been riding for over 40 years and I have always thought that the airflow through my valves was slow .

I tried one of these with just a single pivot, the light changes angle quite a bit, I found it annoying at night.

That stem 34 years in the making of something that was around in the late 1990s 🤣. $200 for an elastomer stem. Dear lord.

No seat tube on a bike frame is a gimmick. I bet the bike weighs a ton because they have to add tons of material to make up for the unstable frame design. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Why would I buy that stem for $200 when I could just buy a Redshift stem instead for less???

What’s the point of exhibiting a suspension stem on drop bars when it doesn’t have a parallelogram pivot!?…..maybe for flat bar but for drops it’s useless

It seems to me like there are quite a few people who like the Redshift stem. This seems like a more tunable version of that. If you want a parallelogram pivot stem you can grab yourself a Kinekt. If you listened to what he said about the seatposts they've been making for a long time, people like their suspension seatposts because they look like normal seatposts. These stems look like a normal stem compared to something like the Kinekt.

@@rickybarker4023 if you’re in the drops your hands are at a similar lateral position to the pivot. This won’t provide suspension as you need to be off that plain …..i.e. somewhere like the hoods for this to work

Not true, my redshift still noticeably dampens bumps in the drops

I do wish the presta valve was better than it is. Dunno if the schwalbe one is gonna fly tho

Anything to make presta more like a schrader seems like a win to me. I liked that Muck Off presta-to-schrader coreless valve too. I just bought my first bike in 25 years back in November 2023, and I find the whole presta valve thing very annoying. The majority of general purpose air pumps require a presta adapter. I realize the Schwalbe doesn't convert presta to schrader, but it does remove that super fragile tip you need to unscrew before you can inflate/deflate the tire. So that seems like a good thing to me.

Currently use the Reserve valves… really love them! Pricey, but better than regular presta.

thats what we want to see man, real innovation, not like gcn going around reviewing bikes that we dont care about

Interesting comment from the Merida UK guy; Hardtail XC bikes aren't really a UK thing.....But why? Is riding uphill trails like too much hard work - and they'd rather get a lift and just descend all day......

I think it's mostly because short travel full suspension race bikes are faster so therefore more popular for racing

One, 70mm. Two, you can tighten screws on the elastomers to make them stiffer. From someone who just bought a Redshift pro stem (and seatpost. Combo plus a 15% discount put them at $200 each)

Conti lady was sweet but i think she meant to say the 60mm rim with the new tyres work like standard tyres at 42mm and under

I will ask the wind to hit me at an exact angle to enjoy the benefits of the new Continental tyre.

Welcome back to the eighties......I just love/hate the way gravel riders believe they are discovering new technologies that appeared and disappeared with early mountain-biking... most of it is total BS re-marketed..

Suspension on a road bike? Won't work. Unless, hear me out.......UNLESS Shimano pushes "stem suspension" to the masses, then it'll be popular. Like the unnecessary change in shifting and braking.

SRAM didn't learn anything from using "S" in naming lower level components? SX is awful stuff.
