So the issue with mesh is that they can get thier toe claws stuck. Tarantulas have clows that are really tiny and hard to see at the tip of each of thier toes, thats what gets stuck in mes and will cause them to rip limbs off which can cause them to bleed out and die. They also can get fangs caughtt which if a fang breaks off is vert bad news for them, they can also chew through messh and escapee, you can cut the mesh off however and replace it with arcrylic and drill holes in for ventalation.

@@laobejanegra926 true, when she said her tarantula does not dig, it's because she is not using enough substrate. It's also very soft and not as wet, so if he does try it will just fall like sand.

It looks amazing💕 It's not so much their legs getting stuck you have to worry about (although it can happen) it's their little claws that usually get stuck in the mesh

Hi my name is Rachel, I have three hermit crabs. I love your channel and your pets. And this is my story of how I got hermit crabs. I was at the beach one summer and all of us were getting hermit crabs for fun. They where in a very bad cage and it was just wire mesh but...if it weren't for your channel they all would all be dead, and now they are in a tank just like yours. LORI!!! PLEEEEEEEASE consider trying an ash purple hair dye (50/50 with conditioner) to tint it. It would go soooo well with your skin tone!!! I've been watching your videos all day and i cant help it keep thinking that lol ❤

I'd recommend mixing that Eco Earth with organic top soil. Eco Earth alone tends to mold very easily.

It's not her legs getting stuck that's the problems its her claws. Tarantulas have claws on their feet, regardless as to how small the mesh is it's always still a concern. I personally have that type of tank and it is very possible to have a T's claw get stuck. You can still use that tank but cut out the mesh and replace it with plastic or plexi glass. Even if you don't see her climb or move does not mean she doesn't. It's very common for them to stop what they're doing if they notice us looking as to them we look like danger. Edit: I have a couple T's myself and one has gone off food for 4 months and it promptly molted after. HOWEVER there are many reasons for them to go off food. if you touch them or move their tank too much before putting food in they very well could refuse food. So don't move the tank or touch her at all, just drop the food in and watch her to see if she eats. If after a couple hours she doesn't eat, take the food out.

@@LorisHartland tarantulas have a little claw ail, that's what can get stuck, not their actually paw\leg. Also... Much more substrate. I know you've mentioned she does "nothing", but at least try it out & add a hide 🙂 i feel she may be more comfortable & finally eat 🙏🏻

She could be dehydrated, which was why Cinnamon didn't eat. Ophelia could also be very old, not that I know her age, but when animals are older they tend to stop eating. Cinnamon was sick and dehydrated at the end of her life and her abdomen was shriveled. She passed away. Anyways, you could check her abdomen. If it looks like there are lines in it or it looks rough/bumpy, maybe check her husbandry/humidity. Kritter Keepers don't hold moisture well so moving her into a glass tank will help. If she is dehydrated, flip her onto her back and take a dropper. Slowly drip water into her mouth (between her fangs) and she should begin drinking. If she's not dehydrated or old/sick, it could be she doesn't feel safe/not enough places to hide. When we first got Orzo he refused to eat because he was in a much smaller environment, it was also extremely noisy because of our floors being done, but also he couldn't hide anywhere because he fell into our laps, basically, and so now he eats every meal I give him, but in the beginning for the first two times he didn't eat. Give Ophelia some plants to hide under (Orzo loves curling up in his fake plants and going to sleep) although Orzo's not a Tarantula haha and she may recover. Love you. Those are just some suggestions. She could also be about to molt, which can be frustrating and money-costly because buying crickets while in pre-molt is a disaster, I've done it and we bought like five bags of crickets and Cinnamon never ate in pre-molt. We wasted way too much money on pre-molt crickets she never ate.

I have a tank simular to yours for my hermit crabs 🐚 but it is a 20 gallon tank

I bought a 20 gallon tank for a gecko a rescued and it has the same type of lid

I love that tank so much! Hoe much did it cost? I have been thinking about getting a tarantula for a while and I absolutely love this tank!

This tank usually goes for $50 and it's not that safe for tarantulas. Critter keepers are better as tarantulas have little claws on their feet that can get stuck in the mesh so you risk your T loosing a leg with this style lid. You can cut out the mesh and replace it with plastic, acrylic, or plexi glass but if don't with to do that it's best not to get a tank like this.

When I got my pink toed tarantula she didn’t eat for months and then one day she finally took a mealworm

Tarantulas have been seen going on food strike for years

my goldfish that i got yesterday refuses to eat (he is still wery little) and I don't know what to do, i have a fishbowl they all are a part if a birthday gift and i know that bowl is not a good way to keep fish but it wont mind them while they are little and i will give them away when they grow up but i want to keep them alive for that time so can u give me some advise on what to do to make him eat again?

Tarantulas can go without eating for almost a year and still live. They actually shouldn't be fed more than once or twice a month. They can and usually will turn away from food at least once in their life time usually before they molt (shed their exoskeleton). Tarantulas are in general weird animals. They also technically don't have to breathe. They have external lungs on the bottom of their abdomens called book lungs and they can only breathe if there is air actively moving over their lungs

Tarantulas don’t really use enrichment at all. They barely even move. Subadult species like that barely moved an inch in a day. They can’t even see.

Most tarantula tank decoration is for the benefit of the keeper so they can have something nice to look at when your T decides to dig down and only re-emerge at night. They just need deep substrate and a hide or two and their water.
