@@TheWhiteTrashPanda absolutely not. He served as a very good mirror to jack, being mentored by him in Tales to becoming his own person, defying what Jack thought Rhys wanted to be. Rhys being just your everyday CEO is such a bad choice, Rhys should have been unique to every other CEO we've ever met. His appearance in BL3 and New Tales is a slap in the face to his arc in the original Tales

Kinda ironic that Telltale respected the franchise with the first game, but Gearbox themselves fail to do so with this entry. What a shame.

I think the reason why is simply the writer. Borderlands 2, Presequel, and Tales were written by Anthony Burch while the rest weren't. This would explain why Borderlands 1 has a skeleton of a story, 3 having poor pacing and annoying characters, and New Tales being well this. Anthony Burch made Borderlands that we know of and Brought one of the best and most interesting antagonist in gaming. Without him, the Borderlands series had been struggling to make compelling games. Maybe Burch could return or someone with similar writing skills can help Borderlands 4. So far, the DLC in 3 showed the right direction for the series but New Tales force the franchise to step back twice

Seeing what happened to Rhys hurts. Now I know how it feels to have your favorite character be assassinated in the writers room.

I mean, if the writers write in a reason for his anti-character development like say… he’s trying to get as much money as he can to fund a project to try and find Sasha, that’d be leaps better. Maybe add in a close confidant like Vaughn point out the parallels between him and Vazquez but Rhys denies these observations. Then through a series of events like him pushing away his close friends or hell, even losing someone (in a non-comedic way) for him to have a revelation, *maybe* then he could be fixed. Now a character assassination like what they did to Obi-Wan in the Kenobi Show, well that’s a massacre. Edit: Also Stapleface could’ve been pretty interesting, maybe she was a kid taken in by psychos and therefore not an actual psycho like the ones from the result of testing, because she’s so weak she’s never been able to fit in with her family, when she has “non-psycho thoughts” and her family ends up dead, this could create an internal conflict, after overcoming that in someway, we could’ve had an endearing story about her trying to get used to a whole new life, we could’ve had some funny jokes about her not understanding some very basic things, they could’ve done so much!

​@@walkingwhisperer exactly, 3, at the very least, has a potentially good story, more lore on the Flynt family, and decent gameplay. New Tales doesn't even have gameplay to fall back on, because it's a "telltale" game, so 90% of the gameplay is just making choices and doing quick time events.

@@TheNavigator4552 same. No matter how fun the gunplay and weapon gimmicks bl3 has, i always wind up going back to bl2. I absolutely can't stand the vibe bl3 gives. Good thing in the recent years bl2 exodus came out and it spiced up bl2 for me quite a bit.

When the story feels like bad fan fiction, and the reject ending feels like something Rhys or Fiona would have made up while telling their story to Loader Bot, you know you done goofed

It's even worse because the accept ending sounds like something Handsome/Holo Jack would come up with to make himself feel better. Literally just eliminating every single vault hunter, past and present, because a cosmic deity felt like it. Sirens? What are those? The destroyer being the strongest thing in existence? Not anymore. The existence of the shards spit in the face of literally every tidbit of lore we have ever received in this series. And it's even worse, because now in borderlands 4, we just have to deal with the fact that there's a cosmic deity out there that can eliminate all of our guns and erase us at any time, should it feel so inclined.

Rhys was naive, not stupid. He was raised on a civil world ruled by corporations. Then he was sent to a mad max hell world ruled by lack of rules having to adapt and not getting the people, because of Jack's hostile marketing calling everyone on pandora Bandit or Raiders

He wasn't sent to Pandora he was stationed above on Helios, he choose to go there for a career and financial gain and to be fair Pandora is an entire planet of insane bandits and raiders left behind by Dahl so Jacks words were not untrue, remember we are not the good guys of the story we're just another interested party fighting over the vaults

He had a means for defense, but they weren't unreasonable for his position in Hyperion. And they certainly werent god awful overpowered like whatever the fuck happened with fran

The Tediore soldiers being incompetent COULD have been an actual good part that made sense with established lore, since Tediore is a cost cutting company; you literally throw their guns because they’re so cheap. But that would require good writing, which New Tales doesn’t have.

In my opinion. The best new characters that was in the game were anu, stapleface and Louis. Rhys is still one of my favourites. Maybe something happened in between the events of tales 1 and borderlands 3/ new tales that made him like this. Is that why Sasha and Fiona left?

The tediore guards made me consistently laugh and that's literally the only positive thing I have to say about this experience

Its like whoever is currently in charge of writing Borderlands seems to really despise TFTB's success and popularity that they've gone to great lengths to make the TFTB characters as awful as possible in later Borderlands games

Randy pitchfork did something similar to Duke Nukem, trying to paint it as a joke/boring franchise when forever failed horribly, no idea why he would do this to borderlands but the fact that he fired the original Cl4p-Tr4p voice actor for asking a raise shows he is a pretty asshole and probably has beef with someone else

Anu's stupid siren gun is not only lame in concept because it makes Sirens less cool, but is an insult to the plot of Borderlands 2. Hyperion under Jack's control was dumping all of its near infinite resources and intellectual power into researching Eridium manipulation. SPECIFICALLY for things like replicating siren abilities, for activating the vault. They never fully succeeded. This Mary Sue just slaps on a lens that she made in her garage. Wow Gearbox, just wow.

Athena was also in the first borderlands game through the general knoxx dlc, but you would think that her entire character set-up for being an assassin would be reason enough not to fuck with corporations. The crimson lance (literally owned by Atlas) separated her from her family as a young girl and were directly/indirectly responsible for her sisters death... I feel like gearbox just forgets that Athena was an og character...

weird that Rhys, a trillionare, couldn't toss Fran 3,500 dollars for his favorite froyo shop

I feel like if they reworked it to where Rhys had put a sizeable chunk of his funds into rebuilding places that the laser ravaged, with stuff like the water park kind of eating up most of it, leaving Fran's Frogurts to be half finished, then it could probably explain stuff like Rhys' talk of money, or Fran's predicament, a bit better than it really did.

45:43...so a shard that can instantly heal anything...strange that it doesn't instantly get rid of Fran's disability...

I always kind of assumed it was like fresh wounds, starting off. Like, there was a certain threshold, before the wounds were unable to be repaired. Though, yeah, kind of a shame that Fran never at least commented on that, even if she had gotten used to life in the souped-up wheelchair of her's.

It's actually the source of her power.

When I saw Rhys just sit there and watch Octavio get tortured with Fran and Anu in cages during that board meeting scene, I knew the old Rhys was gone. In the original he had a soul and was a complex character, now he’s about as three dimensional as a sheet of paper.

After spending any amount of time with the 3 of them, I'd sit back and let them get tortured as well. Especially the fat one.

Pangolin or Anshin being the villain wouldve actually worked, as they are both health based corporations. Like they could be looking for the shards in an effort to make health hypos more powerful or force people to buy more. That, and a medical corporation having a private army is just unique.

The "army" could've been composed of orderlies/orderly droids used in mental hospitals to handle violent patients and guarding the facilitites themselves which would explain why they are so incompetent in actual combat.

Borderlands 3's story with its later DLCs was still somewhat good, but that's where this franchise died. The moment they showed that removed Maya's funeral, already showed that they don't give a FUCK which dumpster the story ends up going into.

Seeing Athena as Hyperion CEO was exciting for like 2 seconds.....And then I realize it doesn't make any sense. I guess that's Borderlands in a nutshell nowadays.

I could see it as atonement for making Jack exist. Making Hyperion have shields for more protection than killing. BUT she’d have a figurehead or be an unseen CEO. To stay low, since that was a goal of hers. But being ceo would allow her to keep SO safe with tons of cash. So if in that meeting it’d have a modulator so you didnt know who it was, and no model besides the logo. You could have even done a whole mystery in BL4 if finding out who it is for to be her. I’d be better than what we got

Regarding Rhys' character, you talk about his evolution in Tales from the Borderlands, but you fail to mention his FURTHER evolution in Borderlands 3! And in that game, he was a CEO who cared about his people and the planet he ruled over. He wasn't this!!! The only way I could see Rhys becoming someone like this is if he became bitter and jaded after Maliwan's attempted takeover. That being said, it wouldn't hurt for them to add a line like "After Maliwan tried taking over the company I'd worked so hard to build up from NOTHING, I realized that I couldn't run this company as a nice guy, buddy-buddy with all the employees. I realized I had to get ruthless if I wanted to stay alive and on top!" But no, he's just an asshole.

Have t played it. So let me ask this. Did they try to do the “external circumstances forced Rhys to do awful unethical things, that while necessary to avoid video tragedy made him a villain in the eyes of those he was forced to make victims?” Or the “absolute power corrupts absolutely no matter the intentions, and as he was isolated in his position above all his strong morals were being deteriorated until nothing was left?” Because while not what I would have gone with, I could see that being a good narrative to make Rhys the bad guy.

@@frankwest5388 Doesn't really matter; The original tales from the borderlands made Rhys realizes that even if he's forced to do things to keep a company afloat, he shouldn't undercut the people around him so flippantly. Tell me, even if it's just a joke, would the man who struggled to fight against the greedy, self-centered, and cutthroat personality of someone he used to look up to, turn around and make his company motto so corrupted and money-grubby? No. It is a bad joke that fails on it's own and a WORST joke that throws away all the character development of one of the two MAIN PROTAGONISTS of the previous installment. They had the golden opportunity to write a CEO character that fits in the morally grey area and threw it away because all these monkey type-writers can come up with is "company only want money, company bad, company kill, you need kill company". Borderlands' writing from Gearbox has never been thought provoking or interesting on its own. At best, their writing was good enough as an appetizer for the main course of brain-melting loot n' shoot action. What possessed the company to think that making a 10-hour narrative game with writing like this is nothing short of hubris. They've never done it before, and should never do it again, if this is the result.

3 was pretty good in some places haven’t played wonderlands. A few major IPs are being written by people that hate them which is what I’m getting from New Tales. I’m hoping they find writers that actually care about the world and characters of the series and give us a well written story

Rhys becoming the evil he hated would've been fine... if they actually _showed_ the development that led to that point. It would've been an interesting story at least, but it happens entirely off-screen, which _sucks_ for a development nobody wanted in the first place

With his whole character being focused on finding Fiona, he could totally be money hungry. Going from not valuing it as much to trying to make a ton of money all to use to help find her. Making his change make sense. Pic of her is gone, only pic he has. Plant, sedimental first emergency sell second for fiona. Be could have even gotten mad at mc smart head for wasting money on projects that don’t make money or help find her. The teleportation was a great lead, but not knowing where it led pisses him off. Imagine actual writing

This feels like a fanfiction. Anu is a self insert with all of the answer. I'm worried for Borderlands 4. I don't like where this is heading.

So This great war would be the vault Hunters plus those 3, fighting against Dahl, vladoff, and maliwan will fight against us to get to the destroyer. With the other companies also trying to reach the destroyer. It will be a war against those 10 or so mega companies.

I genuinely worry for the future of the franchise if this is the direction that the developers are going towards for the series

@@kilderok Much of the writing in BL3 is a big ass red flag, and it still seeps into everything else in the series. From the YASS QUEEN SLAY mentality, to jerking off Lilith (the dumbest siren to ever exist), casually killing Maya, Ava existing, denigrating the Tales characters and otherwise just ignoring the Vault Hunters when it actually matters for plot contrivance. The games story from start to finish is a big ball of fail, and it marked a point where the writing was going to go for the foreseeable future.

At this point, I'd prefer if they'd retcon most of the events of BL3, ignore the existence that is New Tales, and somehow but miraculously still work some of the concepts and ideas into BL4 (if we get it). However, that would require a team of competent writers that genuinely CARE for the franchise and the characters it was built on. Because at this point, whomever these writers are that are making these questionable and frustrating writing decisions are doing nothing but giving a giant finger to the fans of this series.

I think the quality of the writing for the Borderlands series has noticeably gone down since they started focusing on making it primarily comedic (Borderlands 3).

Yeah it does need to turn around. trying to be mostly comical doenst work. Sure you can have comedy but it CAN NOT be 100% of the dialogue. No one writes like that in a good story.

Its funny, because I remember seeing people prior to BL3's release complain about how awful and too immature BL2 and the Pre-Sequel's writing was and how they're glad that BL3 had a different set of writers. Boy did they end up getting the exact opposite of what they wanted.

I only played 2 and 3, but I couldn't finish 3. Technical issues aside (couldn't even boot the game for over a year because of Gear Box's refusal to fix its issues, requiring me to scavenge the internet in search for a mod that fixed the boot issues and macro stuttering), the story is so baffling! Maya's death wasn't a big "OH NO!" moment like it was with Rolland in 2, it was just a "I can't believe they did her dirty like that". The twitch streamers are terrible villains for Borderlands, especially after Handsome Jack showed how a cold blooded but very effective evil leader could be in a series like this. Movement and the guns are the best they've been, but menu navigation is far worse than in 2, and there are so many loading screens when the previous game integrated the menu into the Hunter's UI seaminglessly. It isn't just the writing quality that fell with 3, it was the overall quality.

you also missed that after Anu leaves the keepers place there is a corpse; the very thing she wanted RIGHT THERE in the dumpster

only in the first 15 minutes and my god they did rhys so dirty even in borderlands 3 he wasn't about the money, he seemed like the type of CEO that pays way more than is asked to his employees and actually cares about the people he's in charge of. The type that in the face of a multi billion dollar loss would just go, "that was cool but uh, gonna need you to do some overtime to pay that off, given that it's oh who cares, but i want it focused on that gun, device thingy."

Fr, im really surprised they did this with Rhys in Tales 2. In BL3 they showed Rhys to actually care about his employees; taking them to water parks to relax; and there are even Atlas soldiers voicelines that mention how great working for him is. And this is coming from someone that did not play the OG Tales. They did my man Rhys dirty.

I don't necessarily think the did him wrong...while he fired Anu, she wasn't exactly a stellar employee (constantly "liberated" animals on a spaceship, destroyed either an on-loan sculpture or his only photo of Sasha (depending on choices), and was failing to deliver a product despite massive resource allocation and time being provided). He didn't seem obsessed with money, just...panicked. He was working for a now-unprofitable company and seemed paranoid about another possible invasion, which I imagine is why Altas moved it's headquarters onto a mobile ship from the planet's surface in the first place.

Lmao, didn't think about that. It literally healed a bullet wound through the brain without long lasting damage and 13 or whatever deaths in a row without any long term damage. (Neither physically or mentally) .. they act like she was just born that way or injured very early in life (like a birth issue or something) so like, magic crystal should heal that fine... but we did watch one of these most pain tolerant character archetypes I've ever seen die by a bullet wound to the shoulder in less time then it'd take to bleed out irl, that it .. just couldn't fix? Oh yeah and when Ana loses a leg by shark, water thins blood causing bleed out more quickly and they even show massive amounts of blood and the fact she is showing signs of shock from the wound. She would've died there very quickly, and it seems to take nearly as long as the physcho to die from a shoulder wound that is literally a singular bullet wound by appearances then all that shit. Fuck this games story.

If they really wanted the disabled character to be the toughest character, here's an idea; why not reveal that, years before the game, Fran was a Vault Hunter herself. She traveled the galaxy living a life of adventure and danger, looking for riches, blowing stuff up, fighting bandits and corporate goons, etc. However, she was severely wounded and ended up losing her legs and becoming hoverchair bound. Her vault hunting life cut short, she became despondent and depressed until she agreed to help her parents frogurt shop. Much to her surprise she actually grew to really care about this little shop, and it means a lot to her. That could explain why she's hyper competent and athletic. Maybe you could even give her a plot line where she's torn between accepting her Vault Hunter career is over and moving on, or deciding to give it another shot despite her disability, and allow the player to decide. You could use it too as an opportunity to do a bit of world building and add some seriousness to the story, pointing out that as fun as the games make it look, Vault Hunting is incredibly dangerous and most Vault Hunters meet gruesome ends. I just made this up but it sounds way cooler to me than what the game did with her.

yeah, the being in a wheelchair in the borderlands universe doesn't make much sense, especially when you have people with cybernetics overcoming disabilities like limbs in the case of hammerlock and rhys, and things as complex as wilhelm's cybernetics to overcome his bone wasting disease

Woke-induced laziness and utter hatred for gamers and the Borderlands fanbase happened. The staff doubled down on the same crap they did with Borderlands 3. They gave precedence to labels and checking boxes, from making the vast majority of relevant characters “sTrOnK WhAmEN”, to making an uber-powerful, super-confident, wonderfully intelligent, morbidly obese disabled version of a Mary Sue with unlimited power and pulling stuff like “Free Labor” that should be targeted at the audience of Sex and the goddamn city, and they thought that these pseudo-virtuous dog whistles would be a valid substitute for a decent plot and lack of character development. Well, sorry to say but 90% of people who play video games are the exact antithesis of the audience these companies think they have. This is just the tip of the iceberg, but it’s representative of a wider phenomenon in modern entertainment that has seen good writing and character development flushed down the drain in the name of “checking boxes”, assuming that those boxes will automatically make your product better even if your writing sucks. Newsflash: they don’t.

Even if there were stuff that I did enjoy (Fran, L0U13, Stapleface, the idea of Tediore being the next corporate antagonist, as possibly a response to being labelled a laughing stock for so long), the rest was kind of a mess. And making the events of this game mostly be from a film Octavio had made, of his claim to fame and badassery, with several exaggerated things in there, would at least make more sense.

Fran tucking her legs as she cannon balled into the shark tank broke me ive actually been laughing at it for near 10 minutes now

I am not an emotional person. Seeing Fiona at the end of this long review and the prospect of them obliterating her character actually made me shed a tear.

I actually like the concept of a character who wants to stop the killing in a world where everyone kills and is maybe forced to confront that reality but damn they don't do anything with it

You realize that whatever character this is, fights 3 battles for every conflict. One battle against both sides, and the third battle against both. (Struggling to get both sides to stop killing, then getting caught in between the two warring factions) This would likely turn said character into a pyscho who stops the killing the only way possible.

@@masterjoda999 The joke is that all modern game stories have to be an allegory for the corporate drone's worthless life.

The more time goes on, the more bitter I get at how they ruined Rhys' character. Based on how Rhys was at the end of the original TFTB, there is no reason why he should be acting the way he does now. They turned him into Handsome Jack Lite. His entire arc was going from a Hyperion employee who looked up to Handsome Jack to a man who saw past the rose colored glasses he wore for so long. He grew to reject Jacks ideals because he finally understood that Jack was not a man people should aspire to be. The writers of this game decided to throw all of that away in favor of making him yet another unlikeable prick because apparently that's funny.

I wouldn't be surprised if they decided that this story ends up not being canon or just not brought up at all in future titles, they will most likely sweep it under the rug, rather than trying to salvage the chaos this creates

I never thought GearBox would create a villain worse than Commandant Steel, but Susan makes Steel look like an 10/10 villain

To me there is 2 types of bad characters, forgettable and terrible antagonists, Steel falls in the forgettable villains sections, Susan falls in the terrible villains section. Both are bad characters for different reasons.

Honestly, writing-wise (and not model art-wise, like ship or soldier design), this seems 100% plausible

You know what Athena could’ve been CEO of? A mainly forgotten and/or dead company, like S&S. I know there are little hints as to S&S still being around in 3, but I would’ve liked to see the return of their gear, in my opinion. Hell, they could’ve even made her CEO of Anshin, or Pangolin, or even Vladof, for God’s sake. But no. It just HAD to be Hyperion. Edit: F U C K I N G P L O T A R M O R Double edit: I’m gonna go with the replies and say maybe just don’t make her a CEO of any company. At all.

The should've made Blake the CEO of Hyperion and if they really wanted to shoehorn Athena in, they could've made her a consultant or something. It would give her enough money, a peaceful job Jeanne would agree with and she would use her knowledge of weapons. It would also explain the shields on Hyperion guns in Borderlands 3.

I actually like the idea of a “tales” game with the og vault hunters and here’s why: - It would set us back in time to the original wasteland vibe that got lost in later games - chance to have characters that we’ve never seen before make sense - since it’s before the main entry they would not have to worry all that much about the current clusterfuck of a story that’s going on - Cool way to blast us back to the past - We could go to places we’ve never seen before involving the og vault hunters - they would be forced to tone back the humor, because it would prove the writers are brain dead if they tried to pull a “lol constant comedy” story and not a more laid back, dry humor, but still impactful story

thank you soooooo much for retelling this game! what gearbox have done to rhys is such a massive backstab, like the whole point of a character thrown into a trash bin for three scenes is infuriating! ugh just let borderlands die if you don't want to write something that atleast coherent to the previous games.

Why and how does Fran have a wheelchair that can easily turn her into a vault hunter and why is she not one, it has deathtrap and iron bear levels of power, legitimately why is she concerned with running a froyo shop, she already has the attitude and plot armor of a vault hunter for crying out loud, she's legitimately in the wrong game

Also downgrade her wheelchair a bit and make staplerface a permanent member in the party so the team doesn´t constantly rely on her when it comes to the fighting. A question I'm asking is how she's paralyzed at all. I thought she was just so fat she was disabled at first. Now considering there are nervous-system interfacing cybernetics in this game, there's a huge plothole. A device that restores nerve function to a damaged area shouldn't be an issue. And the stupid Jake Sully "not rich enough to afford" defense can't work here either, there are near homeless people and psychos in borderlands with augmentations. Hell, people build their own out of scrap in this universe.

13:00 - Rhys has a moustache. As Star Trek has taught us, that's not really our Rhys, but an evil version from another reality.

Even though the graphics is an improvement over past Borderlands games, the use of realistic motion capture combined with the stylized look of the game makes every character super uncanny

I know it's been a few weeks, but I actually like the idea of Blake becoming the new CEO of Hyperion. Since he seems to be one of the nicer and less "evil" affiliates, maybe he could've started redeeming the Hyperion name. But instead we get Athena for some reason, who you'd think would be done with corporations after working for the Crimson Lance and Jack.

When I knew they were creating a sequel to tales from the borderlands I went CRAZY the first one is one of my favourite games and it has a special place in my heart but after hearing about the decisions they made and how they butchered the character of Rhys I felt a type of heartbreak that I've never felt for a game before.

I love how they literally took the whole model. Didnt give him a suit or any different clothing, just kept him the knockoff Zero armor

Very well done video. I think the issue with New Tales is multi-faceted: -Price. $40 is ridiculous for this. -Story: I did a bad decisions playthrough so I thought I got a bad ending because of that... turns out a LOT of people got a "1 Year Later X is now dead, surprise!" ending. That's BULLSHIT WRITING. -Main cast: Annoying more than endearing. To be fair I found Sasha and Fiona annoying at times in the original Tales. Rhys was always a self-obsessed jerk, but seemed like he was changed over the course of the game. BUT I wonder if there's some remnants of Jack going on in there... There's the line in BL3 where he asks if his voice is changed... I always thought that felt important or hinting at something. -Humor: I enjoyed a bunch of the jokes, but then there's other ones that they just hammer too many times (Free Labor comes to mind). -Wasted cast: Stapleface, LOU13, Radon, Diamond Danielle, Rhys, Paco, etc... anyone that was even remotely interesting just seems to disappear after the first chapter). -Pacing: this game takes forever to make its point. I'm not a story in video games guy so this was the most annoying thing to me. My original review, made moments after wrapping my playthrough was a low C (7.25), but then I lowered that even further when I discovered that the ending issue was there for a LOT of people. Unacceptable. This is a $15 "game" where what you do doesn't make much difference. It also has an ending that could undo the death of Handsome Jack, Scooter, Maya, Roland and more. So... would fans be cool with that level of retcon? I doubt it.

The fact that Tediore (one of the very few morally good factions) is trying to combat Atlas…did the writers not know that Tediore is considered a joke and their weapons are comparable to bandit/scav/CoV weapons? The only saving grace is that you essentially have an extra grenade…that eats away at your ammunition unless you have a pistol and the infinity running at the same time. Maliwan attacking Atlas made sense since they’re on equal playing field in terms of how useful their guns are

It sometimes feels like gearbox made borderlands by accident and have been desperately trying to recreate it since, like an artist spilling something on a canvas and creating a masterpiece but not being able to do the same thing when they actually try to

They made rhys purposefully bad yet the most reasonable when confronting anu, which was actually doing harm for the company she works on and even gave her a chance to see what her weapon could do and even then all the options just make it worse.

This makes the Borderlands 3 story look amazing when compared to this. I was thinking of buying it because I like the Borderlands franchise, but this is just so horrendous beyond words that it almost killed my entire hope for the franchise as a whole. You're absolutely right about the ingame movie being the best solution. That would actually make sense. LMAO

Between this game and the Saints Row reboot it's like a lot of writers forgot about the basics of storytelling.

Isn't it possible that rhys kept Jack and eventually gave in to listening to advice after maliwan almost took over atlas? The blue eye always bothered me

The only joke I actually enjoyed was the Keeper of the dead not only being a supportive mother but the out of nowhere fact that she makes candles

1:14:00 - Mr Blake is like an Anti-hero CEO, he actually helped Teddy Baha move to Pandora to avoid getting Assassinated for his TKs wave blueprints. Also odd that Vladof and DAHL are not present or at the very least the Anshin and Pangolin.

If her wheelchair did nothing at the start, but as this story has a lot of rich people in it, there were rich and powerful people known for having trillion dollar wheelchairs, and so they are more strong that an able-bodied person, pissing fran off enough that she learns how to do things with her limited wheelchair and makes additions to it WITH THE HELP OF THE INVENTOR. Maybe Anu could make some overly ambitious mods at the start that malfunction and just hurt Fran more, and the both of them grow from this leading to Anu putting more care into her inventions and Fran, even though she can't have these insane contraptions that billionaires have, actually becoming someone interesting. Look, this probably sucks too, but I was at least interested in where it could go while writing it.

Holy shit Athena being a combat instructor for Atlas is a genius idea! The corporation she once hated and vowed to kill every last employee but is now helping Rhys with running Atlas. She is helping to make Atlas a better company. It's also something Janey would approve of. She's not vault hunting anymore but is still using her skills in a productive way.

Fran: is paralysed from the waist down Also Fran: pulls her legs up when jumping into the water [I could be wrong but it looks like she moves her legs by themselves, not pulling them up with her arms which is uhhh not possible when paralysed from the waist down lol]

Same, I noticed that shit and was like, how did she do that, and secondly how the fuck can swim after considering we never see her do more fitness activity then punching things or operating devices. That shit is a major strain and can tire you quickly... and she just fought sharks, is holding a fucking person with one hand and managed to grab a leg while down there and still not only swim one handed while holding someone probably in shock without dropping said leg, but without a body used to heavy physical routines, she can swim paralyzed below the waist one handed and wade.. like... that women would be auditioning for a csi drown victim full time after

I saw it too. Yeah, she should have belly-flopped on the ledge and had to crawl in honestly, that much dead ass under her. They've ignored physics before though, this is after all a cartoon. Another thing is why aren't her legs atrophied a bit more? They look healthy.

Props for making such a long video on this. Borderlands peaked with BL2 when the story had heart and detail. Seeing how far it has disintegrated is really upsetting, but calling it out is necessary.
