New take on a 100+ year old tool. Introducing the GLYDER 82 Combination Square from TrigJig

Ғылым және технология

A new tool project we've been working on for over a year, and this is the finished article. CNC machined from high quality T6 aluminium here in Great Britain, the GLYDER 82 is a new take on a traditional tool that has been mostly unchanged for over a 100 years.

Excellent design and well thought out. Will be adding these to my list of tools I use on a regular basis.

This looks like a “how long did it take to put wheels on luggage” improvement. Buying today

I've been waiting for this. Just ordered one, along with both rulers.

I’m puzzled. Is there not a link to your website, or purchase site? Typically that would be included in your video description. Might want to add that, so we can all easily navigate to it.

I got one from my girlfriend for my birthday present. As a kitchen fitter it is fantastic to use. I cant fault it. Ps. Its a rule. The King is a ruler.

Yeah it's hard to not say ruler when I have since a kid, sometimes I remember but mostly not. Although I was told it's a 'rule' if it measures from the edge, a 'ruler' if the graduation marks start further in from the edge. I don't know how true that is? Glad you like the GLYDER though, probably my current favourite.

How does the mechanism prevent the ruler being pushed out of alignment during use? in one direction its pushing against the wear pads, but the other direction there is only a spring right?

There is a nylon bush that sits centrally and opposite the two wear pads. It's designed so that the nylon bush is the main sacrificial part as opposed to the 'wear pads' themselves. It's a cheap, replaceable item that increases the lifespan and squareness of the tool.

Hi, what about the replacement nylon pads, is it available on your site?

They will be soon. The nylon is incredibly resilient though, so it's highly likely you'll never actually need to replace it if the tool is used correctly (i.e use the release mechanism whenever adjusting the rule).
