Jiufen, which was rich in gold mines in the early days, was known as the "Golden Mountain City". The settlement prospered due to the influx of gold mining people, but later became quiet after the decline of gold mining. In the 1990s, the movie "City of Sadness" came to Jiufen for filming. The beauty of mountains and seas, retro architecture and unique sloping landscapes jumped onto the big screen, making Jiufen a beautiful mountain city that fascinated domestic and foreign tourists.
