Sun Moon Lake (Shao dialect: Zintun or Zintun a Wazaqan[2]) is a semi-natural freshwater lake and hydroelectric power reservoir located in Riyue Village, Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan; the lake is the second largest lake in Taiwan ( Second only to Zengwen Reservoir) and the largest semi-natural lake and power generation reservoir. The average water surface elevation of the pool is about 736 meters, the normal area is about 7.93 square kilometers (about 8.4 square kilometers when full water level), and the maximum water depth is 27 meters. It contains rich natural ecology, but many of them are exotic species.
