I must admit that suzuki make good reliable machines , plus they are one of the few manufacturers that still build all their bikes "in house" at the Toyokawa production plant in Japan. Great video again Chops 👏 Hopefully you might get to ride it again on some british roads with some decent rubber on it this time. 😊👍

350pounds for an ECU flash another 500 for an exhaust system and You will be easly looking at 155hp+ at the back wheel it will make the throttle more responsive low down. A set of S23 and You got a lovely ripper for the UK back roads! And You still will have a bulletproof engine with a nibble chassi for less then the XR.

Like I said on the first video, always interesting to see a youtuber I enjoy watching, having a chance to enjoy my local roads. It's a shame that the rear tire didn't give you enough confidence to properly enjoy the bends, although you did get lucky with the sun, it has been rainy on and off these days over here. We do have some amazing roads, but we also have horrible, bumpy (holes so deep you can probably get your foot in there up until the middle of your shin), unmaintained rods, that when it does rain, it's almost scary as an all-year bike commuter. We don' have many days of rain per year, but when we do have them it can get pretty heavy. Just this past 30th of November we had around 60 mm of rain throughout the day. At least for us that's quite a lot. Anyway, great job and cheers Chopsy.

Great couple of review vids Chops. Seems like a decent & very capable machine if a little underwhelming maybe? I imagine an ECU reflash, braided lines & pads & some new tyres, which are relatively quick, easy & cheap fixes, would make the world of difference. Hope you do get one as a long termer.

It’s an interesting bike I’ve got the Naked version 16’. One of my favorite motors of all time after full pipe and tune. I think Euro 5 has these bikes kinda flat performance wise. I also have a 22’ 1k XR it also lacks in areas noisy motor has not much power under 6k rpm. It’s a good bike does everything well and runs good at full tilt. A buddy has the new Suzuki GT and it’s just as quick as the XR in real world. I’d love to test ride the GX I’m a Suzuki guy down deep.

Thanks for yet another great review Chops! You're right about the OEM Dunlop plastics! My traction control was always kicking in.. I swapped those Dunlops on my 2023 GT with Avon Spirits and voila.. a totally different knee scraper is born! I also acquired a programmer and removed the rpm, speed and throttle map limitations in the ECU. I can't brag about the change in performance here unfortunately but it was quite an eye (and nostril) opener!

Portuguese Custard Tarts. Tasty as is the bike. Just seems that Suzuki have shot themselves in the foot a little with the tyre choice. As a fellow tall person I just wonder about that screen. Two positions and tools required to adjust? Noise and turbulence is the thing that drives you nuts on long tours. Great that so many of the other journalists spare the time to chat and give their thoughts. The most enjoyable of all the launch vids I've watched

Tbh I’ve been having pretty shitty experiences with OEM dunlops for years, especially when it starts raining. 3 bikes, 1 scooter all massively improved by binning the dunlops. They’ve obviously nailed how to win OEM tenders for a tyre supplier but tbh I don’t think it’s worth it. But yeah I’m with you on the G&T’s these days chops. Not the old mother’s ruin but there’s so many really great gins around nowadays. Tbh it’s almost a shame sometimes they pack so much of a punch. We were at an expo in Melbourne last year and they had these lovely concoctions that were navy gin, a bit of cider, lime and soda and they were just really really delicious. It was almost a shame they knocked you totally sideways because I could have drank those as long as the sun stayed out lol

While im not in the market for a tourer of any sort....i think the complaints about the tyres are moot point for a couple of reasons....the first one being mainly that the OE tyres that come on pretty well any bike 1. dont have as much tread depth and 2. made to a lesser quality. Essentially the cheapest shit that they can put on so the bike rolls....if your buying decision was based on the tyres that came on it then youll probably never own any bike (from new).! Time may have been spent talking about other stuff...essentially - "the tyres are shit like most OE tyres" end of...

Honestly, although we don't get that many days of rain per year (we get around a 100 or so per year), there was some luck involved, it has been quite cold, and very wet on some days as well. Greetings, Chop! I have been away from the riding scene for a bit, but I am back! I have thoroughly enjoyed this video presentation of the GX/GX+. I'm a GSX1250FA owner. I bought that bike new in 2011, and I have to say that it's been wonderful. Through all these years, it has never left me on the side of the road, and I have had massive fun with it. She's got over 65,000 miles on the clock now, so it's definitely starting to show its age. Except for the engine/gearbox. She is still an absolute stonker! When I saw this 2-part series on the new GX, it got me thinking, for sure. I do believe I would choose the GX over the GT, especially at this point in my life, a gentleman of 63 years. That said, the price gave me a bit of pause ($18,500 here in the US) as well as certain other things that only a test ride will resolve one way or the other. But overall, this one got my attention. Yes, secretly I prefer the S1000 XR, but I am not convinced that it is worth the extra money I would have to spend to option it out the way I would want it. Further, I am not sure I trust BMW to be reliable anymore. I will have an eye on this new GX when/if the time comes to replace my old friend the FA. Thanks again for the great video.

Prefer the GT all day as I like a traditional tourer like vfr800,fazer 1000,cbr600 etc that type of bike which there is not much choice either suzuki or kawasaki no honda as the got rid of the vfr800

Chopsie, this is a touring bike. Most of the negatives you mention of this bike are sports bike based and are completely pointless in this sector, with the exception of the Dunlop tyres! 😢

People say they love what Suzuki are doing the last year or so but all they’re doing is sticking A 20 year old k5 in different frames and that underwhelming parallel with no top end in different frames

I think I’m starting to get where Suzuki is coming from. They aren’t an aspirational brand and they know it. No-one aspires to a Suzuki anymore. They were the working class hero with the gsx-r etc…. These days their customer base is older and have a certain avoir dupois so they can relive their gixxer fantasies on essentially the same bike but now with added comfort. The rider demographic and weight change is the same for almost all manufacturers of course but the difference is no-one young is going to want a Suzuki but they will want a Yamaha, Honda and of course the premium Euro brands. What they have to watch is pricing because it needs to be cheap and I’m not sure this is cheap enough?

Gotta think the demographic of BMW is in the Harley range - same for most of the Triumph line. Not sure on the rest - though they tend to price out young people. Where I live, lots of the I4 boys who rip around town are on the s1000s with their Yashis.

20 years ago I had a Bandit. It was dispassionate but I had passion for it. Modified the heck out of it. It was a great bike but most people discounted it because it had an old engine, steel frame, and basic suspension. Bike plus mods totaled no more than 9k. I couldn’t buy a GSXR for that but my bike was perfect for me. I really miss that one. Not the carburetors though.

It's what they do best now, all while hitting the parts bin. I was shocked when they put of a new paralell twin and the V-Strom 800...but the price is steep. I remember when they were innovators giving us the GSXR 750, TL1000S, 500 Gamma etc. Now they give us bikes like the useless Katana. They try to rip off the Ninja 1000SX...and fail. And in a world now full of boring paralell twins...they give us more boring paralell twins. And their build quality has taken a huge step backwards. Don't see many new Suzukis on the road nowadays...not hard to see why.

I thought that about the GT when I first saw it but after a test ride I bought one and have to say it is the best bike I have ever owned , and I have been riding continually for over 40 yrs and have had more bikes than I can remember. Never make judgement until you have personally ridden a bike, everyone's opinion is subjective.
