    Hi I ordered my new suzuki gsxs 1000 gt in november got it 5 april 2022 I have been riding bikes for over 50 years and have owned dozens of bikes but I can safely say this is the the best bike I have ever owned, It has its faults front brake needs a hard pull to get the best from it. Seat is sore after 100 miles i have the touring screen makes a huge difference 180 miles to a tank but the best part is the engine it is a fantastic pull from any revs just fantastic

    His review routine is exceptional because every detail is followed up with close camera work. The video is VG and the sound quality is not muddled talking from his helmet. Most of all, I learn things about the bike the other reviewers leave out. Ride testing on the open road is the proper place for it rather than a ride around the city. He gives an honest opinion in the final analysis.

    Just done a 5 day tour of Wales on mine(about 1100 miles total). No issues. Plenty of comfort, seeing as I’ve come from a GSX-R1000R. Plenty enough power and was in B mode the whole week. Was nice not having to come up with yoga positions on the bike this year. 😂

    Great Review Mark, i have been a Member of the Bulletproof Suzi Club for 8 years. The Gsx1000 is a Hell of a Package. Why would you ever waste a Ton of money on a BMW with their Reliability and servicing record? This Bike has Winner stamped all over it, already a waiting list.

    Fabulous bike, bought one a few weeks ago, the engine has immense power and a great ride. I had the wooden feel on the front brake, changed the pads to sintered for £60 and the brakes are now really sharp. Seat doesn’t work for my boney butt on a longer trip so will be looking to see I can fit as a replacement.

    I ride a 2004 BMW K1200RS which is getting a bit heavy for me as I get older. I was looking at the R1200RS in my local dealership & the salesman suggested the Suzuki to me. It had not been on my radar, but at 2/3rds of the BMW price, it got my attention. Thanks for the review, I think I will take one for a test ride now!

    Great review Mark. This is one hell of a bike, I test rode one last week and was very impressed with it from that fabulous engine to the secure handling. During my test ride the skies opened but the bike behaved impeccably. On my test ride I had in in mode B as I had a lot of urban traffic to contend before getting out on rural roads. My local Yamaha dealer says its ugly but I like the look, the only thing stopping me getting one is my fear of losing my licence!

    Got one with a touring setup, screen and panniers. I love the balance they found between analogue and the modern age. Brilliant bike, nice positive review. I was torn between this and the SX but the GT just feels a bit more raw. As a VFR fan It would be good to see the likes of Honda come back into this area again, I am glad the sports tourer is still living.

( happily your height and inseam measurements match mine so it's a good fit for me)) I added the factory luggage and a Givi topcase and rack which were compatible with the Suzuki pannier mounting kit( no interference whatsoever) I had a gen 2 'Busa prior to this and the GT is lighter, more manageable and comfortable for me and still has plenty of go! Thanks again! Steve in OZ.

    It looks ideal for one up touring for the chap or the chapess that still craves the early naughties super bike performance feel, I’ve watched another review which was over a few hundred miles and the feedback was all good, for me I’m a ST1300 advocate for touring and would take a lot for me to move away from it, don’t think any of the current sport tourer bikes do that. Excellent 👍 review Mark.

    Another very positive - and one of the better - reviews for the GT. When they are actually available in the US, it'll be time for a fitting/test ride. Although not exactly apples-to-apples, this and the NT1100 are the two on my list. In your estimation, is the gearing a bit short for touring work on the GT, something a missing tooth might take care of? 5K at 70 seems a bit high for a grunty motor like that. I would think it would get better mpg, as well. Keep it up! Thanks.

  • @markpulling12

    @markpulling12

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the comment.....I think the nt1100 makes a bit better tourer the engine is more relaxed...the gsxs is definitely more sports orientated with it's livelier revvy engine...but yes a slightly higher gear would be better for touring cheers mark

  • @landedzentry

    @landedzentry

    2 жыл бұрын

    adding a tooth would work I think - at 07:57 , 15mph is 2,250 rpm which seems quite "spinny" /not long legged - so raising all the ratios wouldnt make 1st gear too long for slower speeds. Besides its a grunty engine. As you know some bikes have a close ratio gearbox and a very tall first gear -this isnt one of them. State side mile munching definitley requires a more relaxed cruise. If yr happy with the lower powered, heavier Honda NT1100 you could significantly raise the gearing on the Suzuki, accomodate a slower acceleration and still be happy!? The big plus with this one is the quick shifter - which is the best ever by all accounts. Personally I'd have the Kawasaki Z1000 bike. Looks much prettier -lol kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpudsqN8g8LaYM4.html&ab_channel=MarkPulling

    Wow it's like a super Bandit. I had a 2005 Bandit 1200K5 oil/air cooled bought new for the bargain price of 8K Canadian and I thought that was a torque monster. Good on Suzuki for upping the game. And yes I agree with you, the suzuki transmissions have one of the slickest in the industry. Don't like the screen though I like analog dials. But it does seem to keep towards the sport tourer sort of bent. My bike had very similar bars, they were not clip ons. It was a straight bar with just a little bend so you could adjust it depending on your height or riding preference. You could push them forward a bit to get a more sportier riding position or rotate them back to have a more touring profile. Not the greatest, but at least usable within a few inches for rider preference. Once I upped the main jets and pilots up a few points and added a slip on, holy moly, hang on to your hats! LOL. Good on you brother for giving her a go.

    This bike was on my short list before I bought my new bike a month ago. Other reviewers were saying that it was a bit high revving in 6th at 70mph compared to the Kawasaki nina1000sx making it less economical. Someone suggested to change the back sprocket to remedy the issue. I test rode the naked version of this one and I was a bit disappointed, the brakes felt woody although being brembo and the mirrors were terribly viby. The bike also has more or less 25 ponies more than my Kawasaki Z900 and it didn't really felt like that. Anyway still a great bike at a very good price, I like this colour as well and the naked looks way better in the metal than on video. Nice one Mark as per normal. 😉

  • @markpulling12

    @markpulling12

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks yes it is a little high revving for a tourer in top gear ...and it dynos about 138 bhp at the rear wheel ...so that's probably why it doesn't feel massively faster than a z900 but great bike all the same :)

    At legal Road speeds this bike will do over 50 UK mpg and it is a bit vibey around 70 mph but a 190/55 rear tyre will help with that as too would soft foam grips. My thoughts are it's a great high mile one up sports tourer and I very nearly bought one but a second hand tracer 9 Gt came up at a good price so that's what I got.

    Nice review. I like it although I think it's not as polished as the Kawasaki ZX which has an IIMU, adjustable screen & remote preload adjuster. I'm not personally too bothered about the IMU but I imagine lots of potential customers are. I think Suzuki still need to tweek it a little bit for next year to get it fully on par with the Kwak. On a slightly separate note, is there any chance you might be able to do a little review on the 2022 Katana. I know it's basically the GSXS1000 but I'd still like to see your impressions of it compared to the GSXS which after all is probably it's biggest rival.

    I'm very interested in one of these and had a good look at one in my local dealer while getting my SV650 serviced last week, and I'll be getting a demo very soon. One reviewer claimed the brakes were a bit wooden, he didn't like the tyres, or the short gearing. But, many other reviewers haven't even raised those issues? Talking to the mechanic, he said just changing the pads makes a big difference. I just wonder if Suzuki have done just that. The gearing doesn't seem too bad, for what I've seen, and the tyres can be changed later on. Looks like a cracking bike. It was this or the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, but this has the better around package in my opinion, and that K5 derived engine is a peach!

    Great review as always Mark. Whilst many people naturally compare it to the Z1000SX both bikes have issues for me. The Suzuki,s motor stands out in the power department but it seems to rev too much in top gear for my liking making it busy at speed. Add to that a questionable passenger seat and no centre stand, although it's definitely lower in the seat height than the Kawasaki which suits me better. The Tracer 9 GT seems to address all the above apart from being lower in bhp department and it weighs the least I think from memory.

    As always, another great review Mark! I've got a 2018 Vstrom 650 DL and a 2023 Ninja 650 (KTR edition, ABS etc). I've max'd out on available room in the garage. When I saw this GSX S1000GT, I started to wonder if this might make a good compromise btw the two bikes I have. My Vstrom is so forgiving with the mistakes I make and the Ninja is just a fun bike to get on and go. If I did any touring, the Vstrom would be my "only" option. I'm around the same height as you and wondering how you might compare weight/feel etc btw this GSX (lower center of gravity) and something like a Vstrom. Seat height on the Vstrom is taller and the weights are comparable - I think. Is the GSX "forgiving" like the Vstrom? Having the option to do some decent distance/touring is more inviting with the GSX and that inline 4. Just haven't been able to let go of the V-twin. Anyway - this Suzuki has peaked my interest, can't seem to find them here in the U.S. Great analysis and thanks again!

I'm wanting something like an adventure, sports tourer could even be a Supermoto bike. Id like similar power as my R6. Ill be commuting to work and back and out for weekend blasts. I've around £ 6000. So much choice, Please help ha.

    That's your preference, I liked the Kawi for the IMU, remote preload adjuster (although I rarely carry a passenger) but I got the GT because it is so much smoother across the range and that quickshifter.....smooth as silk up or down and the reliability.

    Hi I would say you wouldn't gain much the passenger seat looks small to me ..but reasonable padding...the only way you'll get decent comfort for a passenger is to get a dedicated tourer really...not just a crotch rocket with add on seat ...I've got a tracer 9 gt and my passengers find it very very comfortable with the top box aswell Cheers mark

    Nice deep blue, same as my Triumph Sprint ST1050. This GSX-S1000GT has a slightly melancholic look from the front I think. Would prefer if all the fairing was blue, no black panels, but it is ok. The engine sounds awesome. How does it compare to your Tracer 9 GT Mark?

    This is a new model so insurance companies have no data to go off. They're going to judge it based off the nearest competitor. Your insurer probably mistakenly chose rhe GSX-R1000 as the comparator rather than the Ninja.

    I test rode one on Saturday, I currently have a Versys 1000, I didn't think much of the Suzuki - the engine was peppy but the handling was a bit slow into the bends. I'm not impressed with the build quality or the TFT screen, it all looks cheap. I was also averaging 38mpg, which is shocking in 2022. Personally if I was in the market for this sort of bike, the Ninja 1000 is the better value choice.

    @@terrellgarren7125 they're very different propositions, the Suzuki feels much closer to a sports bike and physically much smaller. Personally I prefer the Versys as it's smoother and low speed handling is better but it's weight is higher up so you have to be aware of that. Certainly the Versys is screwed together and better finished than the Suzuki. The Versys feels more grown up. The Suzuki has more shove and the engine is more lively because of the state of tune and the gearing but I've had high powered stuff before and once that novelty has worn off I prefer the more laid back feel of the Versys. The Versys is more comfortable and when I carry a passenger I barely notice they're there.

    I just test rode it and personally felt like it turned in just fine. I was shocked at how playful it is compared to my GSX-R1000 despite the GT being heavier. The wide handle bar gives you so much leverage. Bet it turns even quicker with a 55 tire on it.
