The classic faced space marine helmets look so good on newer kits it's a shame the Tactical squad will probably never be updated to be in line with the new chaos and Horus Heresy marines

@@ChrisFrosin Seems youtube hates links that go outside youtube; my conversions are just simple switches of the head/backpack/arms/boltgun while keeping the Mk6 body to keep the marines in their newer scale.

Always had a soft spot for the beeky style helms. was my first spade marines back in the day and still like them the most. Not sure they can be used on primaris though. mifght be a bit small :)

Beakies fit "mostly" fine. There are a few gorgets on particular Primaris models that stand too high, but you can make it work.

Has this Sternguard kit opened the door for a wider variety of Primaris 'looks'? I'm excited to mix up some wargear. Just need to get a lot of mkvii heads, now! Which old armour are you going to scattter around your army?

Would love this marines for my ranged intercessors kill team units

I've been replacing all the helmets from my intercessors with mk7 ones, along with bolt rifles with classic bolters, and any new bolt pistols with classic bolt pistols. I love the new scale of the primaris, but I can't stand the design changes. The best kit for mk7 helmets is still the "firstborn" tactical squad box. If I remember right, it should have 10 mk7 helmets and at least 1 mk6 helmet, and since it's a fairly recent kit, the details are pretty sharp. Looking at the sprue on the GW web store it has 13 helmeted heads, but it's show from the back, so can't tell them apart. The assault squad kit is also good, though it only has 5 mk7 helmets, but it's a good source for classic bolt pistols and jump packs. I believe primaris jump pack assault squad is in the pipe, but looking at the new Dante model, it's likely that they changed the jump packs as well, and I'm not a fan of the new design. Once I'm getting my Leviathan box, I'll be converting my sternguard to all have mk7 helmets as well, and will be replacing the combi bolt rifles with classic combi-bolters from the old sternguard kit. I'm also converting the infernus squad to be devastators, since the way their arms are positioned, they look perfect for holding heavy bolters and some other heavy weapons.

Yeah im just converting all my sternguard from spare deathwatch, devastator and tactical marine bits. Don't want my army being all different sizes, already bad enough one of the terminators is the leviathan one while all my others are old metal ones. Watch brother biggicus wishes he could get cover behind walls

just a quick question on the glue - is their own brush necessary or can i get away with using one of my own?

You can get away with using your own for sure. I quite like the length of the bristles on their brush, but I do regularly use an old size 1 that might be sitting on my desk every now and then, too :)

Also some of the Mark 5 helmets could work.

SternGuard will be only Space Marine left in Codex in year or two?

Since they are going to be iron hand veterans I’m going to need to break out all the tech bits. But so far this kit looks very nice.

Does this now mean they are now part of the Dark Angels. Especially since GW said every Space Marine in this box is "supposedly" completely chapter agnostic.

Older mk helmets definitely look better on these

The weapon merging is nice for modeling, but I absolutely HATE it for gaming. I play 40k as "3D Roleplay", I want the granularity

I'm very disappointed with the new sternguard options and the change with all combi weapons. The sargent lost melee weapon, pistol, and rifle options. The heavy weapon guy only gets the heavy bolter now over how he use to get all heavey weapon/ special weapon options. Lastly Combi weapons have no anti vehicle anymore or flamer profile just anti infantry. And to those asaying it wouldn't fit in the card just look at other first born marine data cards and how filled they are.

I wouldn't be surprised if GW do something like the Intercessor Sergeant weapon upgrades again. Over time the unit gets given more equipment until the 10th Ed Space Marine Codex 2.0 gets released....🤨 EDIT:- Anti-Vehicle 6+ and Devastating Wounds duplicate effects on the combi-weapons so that Devestating Wounds is GWs equivalent of a Combi-Melta.

I hate them - with such a passion. They look straight worse than the last ones. I feel like this whole Leviathan was one large space marine shaped mistake. The nids are ok

The Firsborn arms are waaaay too skinny and short for Primaris bodies.
