The very start, the loading.... that's about 0.2 seconds faster than the 1st..which was lightning fast. Also Ghost of Tsushima had hella fast loading.

an simple dice game got 800K players to play on steam, reviving the CRPG genre. spiderman has GOTY potential but its not even TOTK scope with x3 map Hopefully the side quests and activities dont become mindnumbing boring like prior spiderman. 2 spiderman character stories,graphics,loadingscreen upgrade are truly irrelevant if the gameplay is mid

Man I feel like web wings are starting to open up a whole new world to flying and how it should look, insomniac definitely leading the super hero games franchise.

Woah woah ...., hold on Seamless switch, fast travel and faster exploration and here i thought starfield was pioneering the teleportation simulator technology todd promised we were not ready for this amount of seamlessness

It would be cool if u play has one of them and u can see one of them swinging with you when your not playing has them

Can we just take a moment to scold the NPCs in this game for requesting one Spider-Man over another!? Imagine a bunch of helpless civilians on a runaway train, someone sends out a text to Peter Parker. In swings Miles Morales: "I'm here to stop the train and rescue everyone!!" "Nah, we don't want you, we wanted Peter. We've seen him do it in that movie before... Go get Peter!!"

We got so many good games this year, what a way to close 2023...SM2 is gonna spoil me all over again. I remember having trouble re-adjusting to the Batman Arkham games, though I used to love them (Origins is heavily slept-on BTW!), because Insomniac just put everything about those games on a checklist and improved on all aspects. Combat, traversal, side missions, unlockables...I'm honestly surprised how much better this looks compared to SM PS4, because that raised the bar pretty high for superhero action. PS5 is definitely doing them a lot of favors here, and I'm glad they've been equipped to take advantage of the hardware to this degree.

I have to disagree about the combat encounters in SM 2018 becoming tedious towards the end of the game- after you've reached level 35-50, you're not only loaded with tons of abilities, gadgets and skills, the encounters get insane, where there's larger groups of guys, turret guns, a variety of enemy types including more brutes, flying enemies, more snipers, those Sable guys who shoot the ropes at you and the Shockwave stuff you can't touch.. it gets wild, and with some of the suit powers you have at that point, it makes you more powerful but required to be fast reacting and aware of all your surroundings. (For context though, I played the game on its hardest difficulty, "Ultimate", and that's what i recommend for anyone who is very familiar with combat systems like this, like the Arkham games, Shadow of Mordor, etc )

Looking forward to the main event on the 24th when metal gear trilogy drops

I noticed you can now use L1 and R1 to select gadgets and do moves. While I applaud it simplifying combat, I really wish they used haptic controls. Allows for greater number of gadgets and move sets. The tiniest complaint. The game looks incredible. Insomniac are amazing developers.

I'm hoping the enemy density is just for the demo. It's not unusual to up things like that so people can experiment with the mechanics more (since they have less time and less of the game to work with). I agree that near the end of Spider-Man the waves of enemies could be a bit of overkill. And it's why I completed most the game but ignored some of the missions that were just eliminating waves of enemies.

someone who played tested the game said it was faster, but it was better idk, although I hope they improved it, I barely ever wall crawled anywhere, just ran though the walls, but yeah, they need to improve, it's awful to get stuck on a ledge because it only works on flat surfaces.

Im pretty sure GTA 5 on 360 took longer than 20 seconds to load alot of the time my guy, I was in either 4th or 5th grade when that came out and I vividly remember being pissed at the loading 😭

to me the gta5 swap was fast enough, it took 9 seconds from one place to another an that was on HDD, but it looks far better with mod removing the swap screen filter

Id rather a faster traversal mechanic that keeps me engaged in the game than a fast travel everywhere kind of game, which is what starfield is. Tod doesn't want you going fast, not because you miss details, but because you will quickly see how limited and restrictive the game world is.

Back when I was a fan of spiderman games in the ps3 gen with spiderman 3 the game I always wanted more interactive NPCs and more open webswinging thats manual. Disappointed a bit with especially the brain dead NPCs. If we have the black suit it would be cool if we could attack NPCs or at the very least ruin Spider-Man’s reputation

@@TB-BBB those aren’t unrealistic expectations many other games are much more ambitious than what I described. And anyways insomniac isn’t making a spiderman for that type of audience. If they wanted too they could’ve. But spiderman 2 is at its core just more of spiderman 1 and that’s all. No innovation. Which is fine if you enjoyed the first game

There just isn’t much keeping me in the game for another 50+ hours just wanting to explore. But I’m still going to play it because the main story is always amazing

From a press release later after the traielr was shown, apparently they have included several villain boss fights that can only be accessed through side content while also makimg many rewards for doing side content unqiue suits with special powers. I was on the fence for this issue as well, but it seems like they learned and at least will have more villains as a reward for grinding the side content.

Of course it loads really fast... The open world is just window dressing with zero depth. None of the buildings have internal geometry and the game is loading off of an nvme drive.

You never realize just how little most developers care about their game until you see how much love and attention is paid to a game like spiderman. Compare this to mirage or even a recent mainline AC game. No comparison

It’s PlayStation Insomniac. It only makes sense that it’s crazy. PlayStation Studios are one of the very few that can use the hardware to its limits.. The $399 hardware btw. No $5000 PCs that do the work by themselves if at all.

Let’s be totally honest hear, see starfield Xbox 1 party with all the bells and whistles then you see Sonys first party studio with all the bells and whistles, with the load times and cut scenes there no comparison between the two star file looks like an indie dev and Spider-Man top quality

It really isn't that hard to understand, Insomanic develops mainly for Playstation, and they are marketing towards PS4 users, back on PS4 they didn't have an SSD, now they have, and they're like "look at what we can do with this SSD, we couldn't do that on the PS4". I understand some PS fanboys might make it look like PS5 has a magic SSD that doesn't exist anywhere else, but not the developers, they are being straight about it, like "The PS5 has a powerfull SSD, and we can do cool shit with it that we couldn't do before".

I find it ridiculous that at this generation they can't do 4k 60 ultra settings on modern consoles

Literal hypocrisy, has Insomniac never produced a game below expectations?! Because they haven’t produced a bad game we do not expect them too. Under that logic if CDPR did not put out cyberpunk when they did you would have no skepticism for them.

The reason it works in Spiderman with moving fast and it doesn't in Todd Howards game is because Todd Howard is and always has been full of shit, and the real reason was people would realise just how small each map is if u could travel through the world fast!
