Was anyone else taking notes? I would be totally prepared if there was a pop quiz lol. This entire video is sprinkled with a ton of little golden nuggets that pretty much anyone can apply to whatever space they are creating in. Plus you can see that this space actually functions with real world applications, and isn't the usual 'pristine pinterest sewing room' tour🙄 This was a lovely video to watch and thank you for sharing! ❤

Laura, thank you for sharing. After I lost my husband I moved by my kids to Portland, Oregon, no basements in this area. So I searched for a home with living room open to dining room , it’s my dream sewing studio. Since I have a separate kitchen open to family room I’m all set. I used PVC too! You shared many great ideas, thank you. You are my sewing angel!

I'm so jealous. I wish I had a sewing room. Instead, I sew in my bedroom and it's such a pain to have to use my bed and put everything away when it's bedtime. So often I'm in the middle of a project and have to put it all away and then get it all out the next day. I need to win the lottery!

You can buy a belt for your treadle machine on eBay and they are not expensive. I know this because my husband restores Vintage sewing machines. He has 300 to 350 machines out in our barn. He has a few treadles, but mostly electric machines. Your sewing room is fantastic! I'll be making my sewing room over, hopefully this year. I share my sewing space with my husband's repair space up in our big barn. My area is about 25 feet by 15 feet. I plan to use a lot of your ideas in my area. Thank you so very much for showing us your space!

Great video Laura! I loved the tour of your new sewing room. You have given us so many good and practical ideas. I love the story of the evolution and history of your sewing path. My father bought my mother a beautiful Singer sewing machine and cabinet when I was just a baby. That is 60+ years ago now. My sisters and I learned to sew on that faithful machine. I think each of us would like to inherit that machine one day. I purchased a White treadle sewing machine when I was visiting in Chicago for $35. The people were hapoy to get rid of it. I was thrilled with such a treasure. I hauled it in the bed of a pickup truck all the way to Alaska, so I could sew without electricity. I sewed lots of baby clothes for my daughter with that beautiful machine. Thank you for sharing your life and stories with us.

I went down to my sewing area after your video and saw that my sewing machine is too high for my chair (I don’t have 90 degree angle with shoulders and elbows. An amazing sewing space. So refreshing to see a studio that has not walked out of a catalogue. I love the way you have repurposed, what most of use would throw away.

Don't get rid of your couch just get it reupholstered I have one that's very old but I bought used and springs were gone in it I just put cardboard boxes under the cushion to kind of make it firmer and it works all right

You are one beautiful woman! Thank you for sharing and providing lots of inspiration...like, me dashing to my craft room, unpackaging all my measuring tapes and stringin' 'em high to get the wrinkles out (I'll probably have to cover them with a thermal sheet and press with a very low temp iron).

Thank you for the tour of your terrific sewing palace! I am still using my kitchen table and sometimes the dining room table! I really appreciate the tips you offered.. I kept my Mother's sewing machine, I am downsizing but refused to give it up. It was the first thing my parents bought on credit, they paid cash for everything else, if they didn't have the money they didn't buy. It is in a beautiful cherry wood cabinet and it is a "keeper"! I have good memories of Mom teaching me to sew. Thanks again I enjoy your videos so much!

Wow! Just WOW! You’ve done a marvelous job designing your new sewing space! A few ideas for you: You might can consider reupholstering your couch. We redid our antique sofa in white brocade and it’s just gorgeous. Also hung tasteful lace curtains on the window behind it. Lace curtains for your windows would let the light through. The thread up high seems a little unhandy. Maybe your husband could rig something cool, like in the closets in the movie Overboard or the movie Princess Diaries 2. I’m itching to see inside all those drawers and cabinets! Maybe you’ll show us in a later video. Last idea: A labeller would be a handy thing to have for labelling your projects area, drawers and notions. All in all it’s everyone’s dream space! My great grandmother used to say, “A place for everything and everything in its place!” And that’s what you’ve achieved. Way to go!
