In this quick tip video, we'll go over a new feature in After Effects 23.0 beta, Selectable Track Mattes. Now we have the flexibility and power to select one reference matte for all our layers, without having to duplicate, re-arrange layer stacks, and clutter our timelines. We still have control over using the luma or alpha channel (and their inversions) for mattes. Hope to see this feature roll out soon in the public release.

Are you guys excited for Selectable Track Mattes? Many people are bringing up how we've always had the "Set Matte" effect to achieve something similar, but that effect tends to fail with vector or continuous rasterized layers.
I'm glad Adobe is finally adding these features we've been asking for since CS3.

Facts. Now imagine them reworking shape layers or even text animators. That would be very welcomed.
now they have to improve continuos rasterized layer and precomp in 3D mode. they always have so many limits.

to combine the matte can you track matte the paper layer to the venisian layer so that it stacks?
my track matte only says ‘no matte’ is there a fox to this
