BEAST MODE = SCANIA MODE!

no this is normal as they tend to shift in the lower gears slightly slower to reduce excessive load and shock loading on the gearbox and driveline but if its abnormally slow you may have a issue. as for reverse as in most gearboxes including scania they don't have any syncro rings in reverse gear this means the clutch have to fully disengage before it will select reverse I work for scania as a mechanic and have rebuilt plenty of those boxes bloody things hope this helps.

Love scania since I was 2 I'm a big fan I have a scania r730'my dad brought it me when I was 20 so it's my home and car

I have driven an old 124 400 horsepower Scania with a manual stick for a few months now, and the company I work for has also got a R500 with opticruise and the worst thing possible is hitting a red light behind that truck when both are empty, when I shift the old manual box for the first time (at the top of the green band on the rpm gauge) the opticruise has made thee to four changes, forcing me to ease off the throttle each time

My favorite trucks in Euro Truck Simulator 2 are the Scania

@alfx75 if you drive a scania V8 without muffler and 7" straight pipe that's a hell of a noisy truck but they are kinda quiet in sweden.

I drive a Scania now to be honest, or well it is a SAAB but it says SAAB SCANIA on the car and I like that as I am from Sweden. I bought the car before SAAB and Scania splitted up in two companies. I drive a SAAB 9000i 2,3l from 1991.

ive driven this one (2016 model) pretty good truck, compared to 2012 iveco stralis - brakes are very powerful, seat slides very far back, which is comfy for a tall driver like me. What i didnt like that mirrors shake slightly when driving over bumps, and wide angle mirrors are waay too small, cant see shit in them.

There was a Scania truck dealer in Charlotte. I don't know what happened, but now it's a Peterbilt dealer.

Fun that my uncle is the one who created the opticruise system

I have opticruise on my g380 but the transmission has a delay in selecting reverse and when taking off in 1st gear with only a small load it drives slow and selects the next gear slowly, could there be a problem in the software?? service personell here in Australia have limited knowledge and have to relate to technical data to understand the problem.

What is automatic rocking mode

Scania's Opticruise needs to include a Tiptronic option with their future trucks, with the gear selector bolted to the driver's seat armrest just like the Volvo's do with their I-Shift equipped trucks. Much more comfortable for the driver who wants to be in control of his gear changes. That's the only thing I dislike about the Opticruise. Otherwise its a good transmission.

In USA trucks have no retarders yet. The best truck is Volvo also Paccar brings a lot of out dated technologies from DAF & Iveco which for Americans are a space tech from future they can't serve it no money also to afford it!

Mercedes has optic cruise since 2006 but it cost 2 mutch i hope in scania it will be cheap or included as a gift lol

If you have looked into running a truck it is not for the faint hearted. Anything that can improve the profitability of your business has got to be a main concern. Fuel can account for around 30-40% of the operators cost's. That's why your not driving vehicles with 20 year old technology. Trucks have changed and so will a good driver adapt - Bad ones wont

I-shift is bette. But a Scania have a better look... ;)

Because planetary gearset & torque converter automatics have no place in big trucks. They're fine for garbage trucks and other smaller vehicles.

In USA atleast 90% of trucks still use stick shift old Eaton Fuller box with 7-10 gears which is hard to shift but easy to miss!

If they came over to the states, they would wipe out the domestic makers overnight. People would not want to go back to driving those wartime Kenworths and Petes once they drove one of these. The driving experience will be as different as day and night. US drivers would see they've been hoodwinked to think they have the best trucks all these years when in fact...

Nope, they pot the tourqe down becus the gearbox coud'nt have that high tourqe, ( if i have to belive a friend of mine that is working in the MAN garage)

Even the new opticruise is still one of the crappiest auto gearbox I have ever driven. Miss i-shift :(

Worst gear box ever how can an automatic have a clutch pedal mine constantly won't select gear when clutch pedal flat to the floor and is very slow to engage and a weird system that slows you down in cruise control before reaching the brow of a hill , cab is small bed is narrow and uncomfortable I'm not a fan it needs a whole new re vamp from the dated look it has had for a decade

Kevin Burns That weird system is Scania Active Prediction. May be you don't know how to operate the opticruise. Go for some lessons

Opticruise is bad very bad, volvo i-shift win the competition, hope scania using volvo i-shift like daf n man.

scania has more tourqe so man has only 2500nm of tourqe and 620 ( scania has 3000 ) so the scania is the 2e powerfull truck ;)

lovetogokiev Especially when going downhill. There are good reasons, why there are so many brake check parking lots for US trucks, before going downhill. The technic of the last century must be controlled

to skid the wheels @ 3.38 to hook up semi trailer is poor driving..

Scania have a good truck but the Opticruise is no where near as good as Volvo Ishift

Volvo is better, their i-shift is the best gearbox out there
