If you could take one mountain bike on a road trip, what would it be? After riding the new Santa Cruz Hightower, we’re convinced this may be that bike. The versatile all-rounder receives just a few tweaks to its near-perfect formula in the way of progressive geometry to keep it more planted on the descents and a new downtube storage bin, the Glovebox.
We sessioned every bit of single track and jump feature we could find on our recent road trip to the PNW, and the Hightower won us all over. Gearheads Brad and Chris breakdown what you need to know about the updates and if the trail bike is for you.

5’6” Hightower rider. Definitely interested in the Bronson.
Bronson still takes the cake for me. DH beast.
I'm 5'7" and it's like someone dropped the Bronson from a magical place in the sky. Came from a Ripmo V2..... really similar to the High tower and although an amazing bike....being a shorter rider the mullet setup without a crazy long reach ticks all of the boxes in almost any scenario I'm finding.
Blur and Tallboy! I like to pedal
I have a 5010 and a Megatower. But this or a Bronson seems like a nice compromise.
I have a Tallboy 3 (110mm) and will be picking up this new Hightower soon.

Just came back to say that the Glovebox isn’t exactly weather sealed. Some water does get in when washing.
How does it ride compared to the V2?
V10 + Hightower is the ticket
BronsonMX and BronsonMX. I'm that 5'8" guy you were talking about.
I am very interested to see where the next generation Tallboy is going to sit, travel/geo wise. I'm planning on buying a new Hightower, but depending on how capable the next Tallboy is that could be the true all day trail bike.

Tallboy 5 actually got a little less capable (stiffer and faster though) than the TB4 was. With the Blur TR getting more capable and the Hightower 3 getting more responsive, the Tallboy is less necessary.
Got a v10 and mega, going to sell the mega, dont know for tallboy or hightower 😅
Maybe I missed it?…..What spec or level is the bike you demo’d CR or CS or XO?

Hightower and V10

How does the new Hightower compare to the V2 Hightower??

Better in just about every way; pedals better, handles better, freer suspension (less pedal kickback), frame storage. Only downside is that it’s a pinch more weight.
Chris, how tall are you? I’m 6’2” and questioning if the xl is too big

@@pgjudo yeah I tested out the large and i felt like my knees were going to hit the handlebars . I ended up getting an XL ibis ripmo
Hightower and V10 all day
Tallboy Megatower would be my 2
Any thoughts on rider weight limit for this bike? 260 a concern?

If you’re planning to long travel the bike to 160mm, why not just gat a Bronson?

Hightower is a 29er, Bronson is a mullet.

I felt Bronson got updated at a weird timing. It's not getting the glovebox and the new GX specs. Missing the sag window. It feels so last gen.

Looks-to-be the very same rig that's in a dozen other videos. I wanna hear from owners. All youTube has is commercial reviews to sell products. Expensive products.
