@@dothedeed I speak from experience when I say it is a parent's job to get their child socialized and ready to meet their peers. My mother did not do a good job of doing this for me or my younger brother and we still feel the effects of it today. I don't blame the kids in my class for treating me differently because I dressed awkwardly, didn't shower as often as I should have or have the proper etiquette. I blame my mother. Perhaps the kids at school could have been more gracious about the experience, but thinking society should have a greater interest than the parent of the wellbeing mg of the kids is a recipe for disaster.

My real-life friends who post the most pics of themselves looking fabulous are the saddest, loneliest people I know. They post beautiful pics in an effort to make themselves feel good. Bill's line reminds me of an episode of All in The Family where a friend of Edith's was talking about how sad she was in her married life and said how the books and articles she'd been reading made her feel like, "there's a party out there," and she'd missed it. Edith responded, "I don't think I'd go even if I was invited." LOL

I quit FB in 2019 but came back in this year due to the pandemic. What I did different was that I kept my friends there to actual friends and family. Prior to that I would friend colleagues and co-workers. People I went to HS with but wasn't friends with. One thing I never did was to accept requests from people I didn't know in real life. I also stopped posting almost completely. I still have my opinions on most things, but in the glut of insanity which the trump years has been, I find it redundant and pointless to post the latest idiotic thing that he has done. It is exhausting. I also quit Twitter, though I rarely used it to begin with. Twitter is a complete wasteland. There isn't an issue out there that Twitter is an adequate venue for discussion about it. One cannot share a complicated, nuanced position on something, which most issues worthy of discussion require, in the limited format Twitter provides. I have an Instagram account, but never use it. Not even sure if I could manage to log in again if I wanted to. "Social Media" is an oxymoron. There is nothing social about it.

She threw my scholarships in the burn barrel and I ended up doing 20 years in the Army. Tackled hard by my mother! But I do have 3 degrees with the top being an MBA and my military retirement. Jesse Wright Again I sense that you are in a lot of pain. I know all about feeling isolated. You may think that I’m judging you but nothing could be further from the truth. I hope you have friends that you can talk to. You calling me weasel may be a sign that you feel that striking out will make you feel better but that will only last a second or two, and then that black dog of loneliness, and isolation will descend on you again. I will not report you. Who could I report you to? But I’ll say that you need to talk with someone, be it a friend or maybe some kind of counsellor that you feel you can have a connection with. A friend would be better. Just don’t hurt yourself, or anyone else. Listen, your karma is your karma and you’ll do whatever you’re going to do. But know this, the word is a better place with you in it. I know that sounds corny but it’s the absolute truth.

I've never been on Facebook and I once read an article that read people should be weary of people which aren't on Facebook because they are probably hiding something, which made me laugh because I have never hidden the fact that I don't want to see peoples vacations snaps, pictures of their children or that they've just got engaged. These people don't do this because they are introverts or socially awkward. They do it because their standard of living sucks and need to blame someone else for their troubles. This is why Trump shines for these people. He channels that anger towards people of color. It becomes a battle for survival in their depraved minds. And if we know anything about nature, it's that it is justified to kill to survive. Trump and Fox news should be charged for inciting violence every time they begin to claim that there is an "invasion". If Bill thinks a recession will hurt Trump, then he is an absolute fool. All it will do is increase the number of angry people looking to blame someone else for their troubles.

Based on what Bill Maher is saying, the Nazis had the best possible formula for Human Society: A dominant culture, based on mutual love, respect, fidelity and heritage, taught in all public schools, with emphasis on both physical, and mental fitness. Intense military training aimed at preserving the unity, and continued existence of both that Nation, and Culture. A comprehensive screening program, as part of the education system, which weeded out all those of weak character, and mental defect, and subjected them to special intensive education. The small number of students who continued to display violent behavior, and mental defects, were subject to Euthanasia . In Germany's Third Reich, there were no criminals; there were no mentally defective, because these were promptly eliminated. The hopelessly mentally defective were gassed, or injected with deadly poison. Those convicted of violent crimes, were tried and beheaded, in the basement of the Police-Station-Courthouse, upon being found guilty. Each and every citizen, in Germany during the 1930s, was instilled with pride of community. Under such conditions, engaging in criminal activity would mean bringing shame upon their whole family, and community. Violent attacks upon the citizenry, were dealt with swiftly by well armed police.

This is actually one of the most compassionate takes I've heard on the subjects - Bill doesn't just write off "the losers" and makes an effort to educate people on the dangers of loneliness and finding an echo chamber that distorts your perspective. The internet is great... but like Bill said, while it makes communication easier it doesn't necessarily make it closer. It's a facsimile of the real thing.

...a sweeping categorization on why millennial's have mass shooters, being related to loneliness and low sexual satisfaction? Logic is not only lost on this generation but Bill Maher has figured out their direction for social policy. How pathetic that school shooters and serial killers have something so in common with this line of logic. Men who have become so incompetent that they blame their loneliness and lack of sex life on others and Bill Maher will agree, "this is why they are shooting up schools." How about this is a waste of time. Does it not remind you of the idiots who blamed the rise of serial killers on violent movies and pornography. So it has nothing to do with access to guns, child abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, intolerance (which is clearly stated in the motives of some mass shooters), etc. Any number of things that actually determine a persons inability to show empathy towards others but you think centering on the every-day common man's plight of having to watch your friends be successful on social media is a key factor. This is not to mention any of the neurological factors present in serial killers and other violent offenders. You and Bill Maher must be having a bad day and want to kill someone lol but I assure you, you are unlikely to do it based on not getting laid in the past 6 months or seeing your ex-girlfriend eating paninis with her fiance.

@@DeadDancers They have stricter gun control laws/regulations....But before you might think of saying "Amen"--- ask yourself if you REALLY want to live in those other countries. There are plenty of CHINESE that would rather live HERE, I'm willing to bet. I am also willing to surmise that other countries may not have mass shootings like we do,but despite their their strict gun control, still have significant gun related crimes in their major cities never the less.(We know for a fact that MEXICO doesn't have any firearm problems😂😒) Also remember the journalistic motto: "If it bleeds it leads!" Regular gun crimes like "angry husband shoots wife and lover" or "desprado shoots gas station clerk", or even gang shootout kills two" is too blase and boring--Mass shootings are MUCH more exciting to report on. Most people aren't going to get that vibe from you. Just focus on the positive-minded people, and dismiss the others. People who try to direct negative attention to others, are people who RECEIVE a lot of negative reactions themselves. And they don't know how to deal with it, so they just try to redirect the negative attention to someone else out of desperation. Don't feel humiliated when people are like that with you. Most people understand that the instigator is the one with the problem. ✌
