Great review. I love the new front end but now the angular front doesn't match the curvy rear so it's not very cohesive. Disappointed with the performance so I think I'd rather go for the Kamiq.

The new front end looks terrible.
Just got a 2021 Diesel version for £12k. 40,000 miles was a bit higher than I wanted but after getting well over 60mpg even with plenty of town driving I think it makes much more sense than a hybrid for £30k+ I’ll accept not everyone’s happy with a diesel anymore, but I think they’ll be missed. It just pulls so easily in low revs. Buy used!

I agree with you on diesel cars. I love the low down torque and ease of driving in diesels not to mention the extra economy. I can see the market for used diesel cars rising and lament the decision of so many manufacturers ditching them, a very premature move I think.

Similar for me mate. I wanted a Suzuki Vitara (SZ5 Allgrip, mild hybrid), it's £29k new. Just got a 72 plate a couple of weeks ago with 14k on the clock for £18700! It's in amazing condition too, it's practically brand new. Getting 48mpg everywhere it seems, i love it. All the best with your Captur, you've got yourself a great deal there😉 I too miss Diesel and still think they make both financial and environmental sense for some
I wish Renault would give a heated windscreen option in the UK. Skoda and Nissan (and of course Ford) manage it.

'Car for living' is probably the translation from the French « Voiture à vivre » which is a bit difficult to translate. It means a car that is practical, that you like making a part of your life. Interior is also new actually because this car is close to the newly introduced Symbioz. Finally on the base trim level you got the same infotainment but on a smaller screen.
@whatcar

Thanks! All versions sold in the UK will get the 10.4in infotainment screen as standard, although a smaller screen will be offered in other markets.

@@whatcar Thanks! I didn't know that and based my assessment on continental Europe apparently.
Even the quickest 0-60 version would be considered massively slow in the states. Pick up trucks would be literally running you over on hills and stoplights.
Of course, in RHD form the glovebox will be tiny.
‘Des voitures à vivre’ was the French strap line for a long time. It means ‘cars for living’ suggesting they make life easier.
Brilliant review very well spoken clear and all boxes covered and great on the money and trim levels like his stlyle of a review
Very straightforward presentation without the "noise" and professional. Thank you for addressing the "normal person" who spends their own money. Congratulations!

How about a test of Renault Captur vs Renault Scenic. Because to me it is looking like BEVs are getting down to the prices of Hybrids and ICE
Had two French cars Had serious issues with both of them which has unfortunately put me off french cars for life

Did both cars have four wheels? Do you now avoid cars with four wheels?
The glove box on this is on the right hand side. UK versions will be half the size as French manufacturers are notorious for doing the minimum when transferring the steering wheel.
" It's telling me I'm a safe driver " he says while fiddling with the screen while he's driving 😂
A few weeks ago, I almost got killed in a Renault Clio. The brakes stopped functioning on a very steep (curvy) incline and the car started rolling back quickly. The breaks were hard as a rock! I know that previous Captures were pulled off the market for brake issues. Instead of coming out with the new models, they should fix the existing ones first!

Had a 2020 captur and loved it just swapped it yesterday to a pre facelift brand new 2024 captur techno and love it even more than my 2020, i kinda miss the rev counter though ( i dont know why just do) but love everything else, its so nice to drive, and ive basically got it for the same amount of money as i was paying for my 2020 version as renault were doing really good deals to shift stock so winner winner for me
I have got one of these, the pre-facelift version, it is super to drive and I find that it performs well, off the mark and accelerates brilliantly when you need it to, I have not experienced any issues with the battery not having enough charge as reported here though. The Google operating system even tells you the price of petrol at garages as you get near to them, which is useful, it colour codes the in green or a kind of red, depending on the price. I am pleased that mine does not have the French flags in the car, I think I would have to cut them out if it did. I am currently getting just north of 55mpg, which is super for a 1600cc petrol engine car.
I enjoyed watching the video review, I recommend Techno trim 😊
There is also a mild hybrid with 160bhp available with a regular automatic transmission. Would have been nice I you were accurate
As a long time driver I find these new cars hideous. 1.Why are they constantly pushing these American sized cars on European narrow roads (and parking spots)? 2. Visibility is poor to the point where you can't see a wall, a roundabout or a child standing in front/by the car. 3. What's with all these sensors constantly beeping for no reasons? It rains? Yeah, I'm not blind. 'Two meters until I hit the wall?' Well, if the whole car wasn't a giant blind spot, there'd be no need for sensors in the first place. When driving in reverse I can see the Mount Everest, the Sun, the Moon and the stars, but not the road! 4. Not allowed to talk on your mobile phone while driving? But, it's perfectly fine to use a touch screen while driving 150km/h. No, not distracting at all.. I won't even go into DPF, Ad-blue, brake & rust issues. The list is too long. If only these modern car-designers loved driving as much as they love technology..

You obviously didn't drive an American size SUV, this is not even an SUV this is a crossover. Small in comparison to American cars. And why let's say it has to do a lot with the success of the 1st generation Nissan Qashqai (built in GB)
Looks great but Renault have too many similar looking (exterior) and sized cars now. Nice to see entry level prices have been kept low!
Peugeot from the front Dacia in the middle and I’m gonna say Lexus lights on the back .. all v v random
whats the real mpg on that car in long drive
The 6 speed manual transmission sounds like the only fun thing about the car.
Why don't car companies offer bigger wheels as an option? I don't want 19 inch wheels in something this size
Why are they persisting with the 90bhp tce when Dacia are offering the same 1.0 tce but with 110bhp in the Sandero and the Jogger. This would take at least a second off the 12.4 secs 0 to 60 time.

The Duster is far less refined than even a Renault. Road noise is intrusive and cost cutting is very obvious in the ambiance and build quality. This is the trade-off. If you're ok with this, the Duster is a great car.

The duster looks quite nice though and uses most of the same parts as the captur, but I agree it doesn’t have the best build quality. Dacia aim for a more utilitarian aesthetic where as Renault are more modern and high tech.

A Dacia is a Renault
A great improvement in the looks department in my opinion, but what a missed opportunity from Renault with the smaller petrol engine. I test drove a similar unit in an older model and it's just too underpowered for the size of car so ended up walking away. I dread to think how long it would take to hit 60mph with four people on board. I'd rather sacrifice a few MPG for something a bit more driveable. Should have put the 110hp unit that is used in the Dacia Jogger.
Cute steering wheel.
No diesel - no good. The hybrid will be thirsty whenever it's not leaning upon the little electric reserve. Hard uncomfortable seats - what on earth happened to Renault?! They used to be fabulous back in the old rust-bomb days and even relatively recently I took my mk3 Clio for granted, but then any occasional passengers would immediately comment upon how smooth it was. Then I bought a 2014 Fiesta and THAT is DREADFUL by comparison. The environmental and safety mullahs have ruined driving, but that's the idea - make driving less accessible to ordinary people (because of course we will all live in 15-minute cities and never need to go anywhere anyway), thereby freeing up the pleb-crowded roads for the deserving few. I sometimes wonder if the NCAP isn't altogether unintentionally similar to another four-lettered abbreviation beginning with N (although the other abbreviation actually wanted to make motoring easier). Now I'll be banned for being both islamophobic and populist - that algorithm robot is a clever fellow.
Renault in Australia is basically finished. Expensive, poor dealer footprint and support.
Great explanation of how manufacturers trick us with ‘their figures’, very well demonstrated here by the boot size. I’d say disingenuous at best.
For that price, Renault, or Volvo XC40, I know where my money would go

Great job by renault on this facelift. Nice looking and practical interior worthy of a voiture à vivre.
As a previous owner of the Captur with the 18" wheels, those 19" wheels will be a huge pain in the bottom region for sure. The interior is still a carry over from 2020 Clio. Boot space is like half of what a Ford Puma offers. Overall a very disappointing car.

What are you talking about the T-roc has way less interior quality no soft touches at all...
@whatcar
18 күн бұрын
T-Roc wasn’t very nice inside when originally launched, but was overhauled and now has a pretty smart interior by class standards with lots of soft-touch plastic.
These stupid safety systems are there to get some extra Euro NCAP brownie points. And that's why most manufacturer give you an option to disable the most annoying ones. It's like the start&Stop. You cannot usually disable them permanently (it registers as a 'fault'), but you have a button that you have to press everytime you start the car. Now how stupid is this, adding 'safety' features that are actually very distracting, annoying, and that most driver would want to instantly switch off. Lane-keeping assist, speed limit warnings, even collision warning (when on a small country lane), these are extremely annoying, even potentially dangerous, and it's treating the driver as if he is a child. Thankfully, I don't get the speed limit warning in my car beeping at me, but I do have the lane keeping assist grabbing the wheel sometimes, even when it's suppose to be off (there is still a 'safety' that will kick it on when the car things you're heading for a bit of offroad).
Way nicer looking than the awkward Puma.
